Trying to pick a Mod resort

When have been staying at POFQ or last few trips, but after last years awful stay we are thinking about trying one of the other Mods. Been trying to pick between CBR and CS. Not sure of their larger size and the conventioneers at CS. Has anyone stayed at both? And which would you pick and why. Looking at an early December trip this year. We will be flying into Orlando and won't be renting a car as we stay the whole trip at Disney usually 10-14 days depending on work schedule. Three of us traveling my DW, DD6 at time, and myself.

Our fav mod is POR, in the mansion section. Have had 4 great stays there. The last being last Aug.

I would go to POR too but I like the AB as it feels more like a resort.

Second would be CBR for that south seas feel.

Have never stayed at CBR as it doesn't appeal to us theme wise (probably because we go to Marco Island after we are at Disney every trip).

We've stayed at the CSR nine times and have never had a problem with the convention people (it keeps the buses and pools emptier).

CBR and CSR are roughly the same size, with CBR being a tad larger.

POFQ would be the smallest of the moderates.

We've stayed at both CSR (multiple times) and CBR (once) when our oldest son was tiny. We enjoyed both, but would choose CSR over CBR in the future. We didn't run into many conventioneers on our trip and CSR just seemed more relaxing and less crowded. Without requesting it, we were always placed in a room near the lobby, so Pepper Market and the bus stop were close. And I didn't mind the walk over to the pool - it was pleasant and relaxing. Pepper Market was always very calm in the early morning. CBR was fun, just didn't feel like it was the same relaxing escape from the parks that we experienced at CSR. And based on the current room decor (CSR's renovated rooms with white linens vs. CBR's unrenovated rooms or new pirate rooms), I'd definitely choose CSR.

But I'm concerned about your last POFQ stay. We're staying at POFQ after a few days at the beach during Easter week, and then switching to YC when the AP discount kicks in. Nothing terrible about our CSR or CBR stays - just wanted to try something new. Do you mind sharing your experience at POFQ?

We have stayed at CSR but never CBR. I almost picked CBR for this trip but didn't really want the double beds. I know some don't like the food court at PM but we enjoyed it last time we were there.

The service awful, cast members were rude or not helpful. People where hanging out all over the walk ways had their clothing and towels hanging from handrails beer and liquor bottles left all over the place. Now they were all British, they were loud, rude and generally obnoxious I don't know if this behavior is acceptable in Britain, but the staff did nothing about them. The movie was aired every night out side buildings 5 and 6 in the croquet court, now this seems fun, but its so loud don't expect to have a conversation in your room if your room is facing the screen while it's on because it's nearly impossible. We stay 12 days and 5 times while waiting 30mins+ for a bus in the POFQ line after park closing, they closed it after 3 or 4 buses and directed all of us to the end of POR line which was already full and adding the 100+ POFQ guests meant another 45min wait. We have had better stays for less money at POP.

Thanks, peimikes. None of this is good news for our POFQ stay next month, but I really appreciate your candid review. Best to be prepared for those possibilities - we'll be at Epcot or AK for park closing, but never MK or DHS. Did you have difficulties with the buses from Epcot or AK at closing? We're ending our stay at YC, so that will help in case the POFQ situation is not ideal. Thanks again.

The bus issue at park closing was at DHS 3 times and once each at MK and EPCOT. First time we ever ran into this staying at FQ.

CSR! Privacy doors to the bathroom/sink area, queen beds, Pepper Market, lake-side bar, pool bar, centrally located. :goodvibes

This would be my list..
1. CSR
2. POR
3. POFQ
4. CBR & this is why

1st off: Pool . Each resort's main pool is nice, but the POFQ is a lil bit on the kiddish side. CSR nice theming & never ever crowded at all. POR Very nice as well w/ a nice side crowd during all hours. Same w/ CBR. POR's is nice and close to the main bldg, which is very convenient too. CSR a lil far but worth the beautiful walk.

2nd: Rooms. This fairly even for all. It all depends on your taste. I believe all have updated rooms now. I was fortunate to saty in them for POR & CSR. I loved both. POFQ I didn't stay in for more than a day. CBR never stayed inside.

3rd: Food area. I think by far. CSR Pepper Market. Never a wait to be seated. no more than 15 seconds .honestly. Also they bring u the drinks for a really small tip. (not a big deal) All the others were so darn packed & it really discouraged me. I felt like I was back at the values.

4th: Transportation. CSR definetley gets the nod again. Never once did we wait to or from any park or DTD. The fact that its a convention hotel helps. But Both the POR & POFQ have a nice boat ride to DTD. Bad side is the buses there. LOng long wait, especially from HS Fantasmic show. Both buses returning to the resorts from there were a minimum 7 or 8 buses. CBR felt just about average.

5th: Grounds. All are beautiful. POR & CSR stand out IMHO. CBR is spread out and the theming to me doesnt feel like Disney. Plus main Bldg is no where near anything. Check in area. POFQ is very small. Kinda claustraphobic if you ask me.

Lets put it this way: This is Disney, No matter which you choose, they will make it a magical time regardless. Have fun choosing & enjoy!

Can ya tell I'm a lil partial to CSR..? LoL

I go to WDW several times a year and pretty much always stay at a moderate, so have stayed at all four within the last couple of years. I'd rank them:
#1. CSR
#2. POFQ
#3. PORS
#4. CBR

With CSR being a convention resort, conventioneers are in meetings all day leaving the buses for us. Granted we always make rope drops, but I have never had to stand on a CSR bus in the mornings, even if I catch it at the last stop (main building) and I've very seldom stood on one in the evenings, unless I'm leaving at park closing. They have the best pool of the moderates (longest slide), the biggest hot tub on property, and I like that you can get food and drinks right there at the main pool. They also have the best kids playground area. The Pepper Market is now a counter service buffet for breakfast and lunch, which is a great deal if you are on the DDP. Their queen size beds are the most comfortable among the moderates.

2. POFQ-love how small the resort is, Elliot Dyson's show in the lounge, and the boat to DTD, don't care for their new queen size beds though (too hard).

3. PORS-in the midst of a remodeling, love the boat to DTD, not fond of the bus service (if you are one of the later stops you'll probably be standining).

4. CBR-lovely resort, but not a fan--housekeeping has been bad two stays, bus service seems to always stink, not a fan of their food court, resort feels huge, main pool and hot tubs always crowded.

Plus you said you are going in early Dec. Pop Warner week is the first full week in Dec and last year they stayed at CBR. They usually stay at PORS, but due to the rehab were moved to CBR this last year. Who knows if they'll be back at PORS or at CBR. With the recent rehab at PORS, I'd think they'd hate to have them in those rooms.
