Hi everyone! This board seems like a friendly/supportive place, so I think I'm going to join some of the weight loss efforts here. I'm 24, 5'5, and 200 pounds. I gained a LOT of weight in the last year, mostly due to some pretty devastating life changes, although that's not an excuse! Luckily for me, that means I'm still in good shape for plenty of exercise, and since the weight gain wasn't gradual, I am much more frustrated with it than I would have been if it snuck up on me a little bit at a time!

Basically, I tried WW and HATED it, I just couldn't stand those meetings. So I joined a gym, and have been meeting with a trainer biweekly, because being held accountable helps. My newest idea has been to keep track of my exercise and see how long it takes me to "walk" to WDW and try and get there before my next trip. since I'm in upstate NY, that's quite a distance.

I just want to fit in my old clothes again, and feel good again! I figure an upcoming trip to WDW is the perfect time to shoot for, because I want to look nice in all those picutres that get taken! I guess I just wanted to introduce myself, and if anyone has any good ideas or suggestions, let me know!

Welcome to WISH!

I am so happy that you have found us and that you are ready to get yourself going to be that healthier you.

I am jealous that you have a trainer. I am interested in hearing your stories on what you are doing.

Walking to WDW will certainly help you reach success. It is a fun way too!

:welcome: to WISH!! have you seen the recent post to sign up for the next round of WISH-Biggest Loser? i'm counting on the accountability and friends to help me stay focused and shed some poundage!

I'd also suggest that you give yourself small goals that you can achieve as you take the journey of changing your habits.

Don't think of it using the "D" word. Rather, think of making lifestyle changes for a healthier you!

You can do this!

Thanks for all your input! Smaller goals are good, I've been keeping track of my running progress on google maps and it's fun to watch and be able to see things like "omg I've walked from Albany to Poughkeepsie!". Gives me a sense of exactly how far I'm going, week by week, so that I don't get frustrated. I try not to set specific weight goals though, I'm just trying to fit back into my old jeans for now!

How do I find the link for this biggest loser? I've never really looked around this board before, I'm usually over on the theme parks board. Thanks for the support and ideas!

Hi! I'm trying to do the exact same thing (loose wait before my next trip which is in August) I plan on starting Walking to the Mouse House today when I go to the gym tonight I have 1298 miles to go! How do you keep track of it on google maps? The only thing I could think of was to use a tickerfactory tracker but I'd love to see it on a map I think it would give me a great sense of accomplishment.

I think the hardest part overall for me is to watch what I eat and limit the amount I eat. I've already started by not taking seconds at meal time and I made myself drink at least 64 oz of water a day ( I did this by using my Nalgen bottle which is 32 oz and filling it up twice I carry it every where I go)

Good Luck!!! :cool1:

You need a gmail account to create personal maps in Google maps. Once you have one, it's pretty easy to figure out. THey have distance trackers and other tools. You can then save the maps and edit them at any time.

I hadn't thought about ticker factory. I may make one of those soon to add to my signature. Thanks for the idea!

Hey there. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 26/5'4"/and 165lbs. I would like to lose atleast 30 lbs by October. That is when I'm getting married. I've never really been on the W.I.S.H. board until now so I'm kinda excited.

That's the same for me. I keep a food journal, where on the front of a page, I keep track of everything I eat and what I do for a workout (I'm 5'8" and 165 and would like to be down 20# by my Oct-Nov trip also) and on the back, I write down what I'm feeling when I eat and why I'm eating it, and also how I felt about my workout (i.e. too easy, pretty tough, not enough upper body reps, etc). I like it because you see exactly what you've eaten during the day, and it's made me not want that extra cup of yogurt at 9pm when I'm DISing. It's a double-duty book to keep track of my eating habits (I'm horrible when it comes to sweets - I CANNOT "eat just one") and how much I'm progressing fitness wise.

Good luck, and PLEASE don't think of it as a New Year's Resolution - there's hard evidence that those things are broken in 2wks or less - and we don't want that to be you!
