Trying to get the week of Thanksgiving

We called to make a ressie for the week of Thanksgiving but were told that there is nothing available. The CM said that they have not opened all of the sites yet. Does anyone know when they will open more sites? The CM said that they keep some on hold so that the same people cannot reserve them year after year by calling ahead. Does anyone now how true that is?

I'm not sure about that but try AAA. I was able to get a site even though Disney said they were sold out for Spring Break week. I think they must hold some back just for them.

I think your assessment about only opening a certain number of sites at a time is correct, but I have never seen where you can determine when they do this. However, the closer you get to your date there are more cancellations for those that have made advance reservations and now have to cancel them. Thing to do is get your foot in the door even for a day or two outside your desired window and the add and/or cancel what you don't need/want. We started out trying to get Halloween Thanksgiving 2008 back in Aug 2007 and initially could only get 20 Oct to 20 Nov, but about 5 weeks later were able to add 21 Nov to 1 Dec 2008 so now were are set.

I was able to get thanksgiving week this morning, booked with AAA but with checkout on the 28th because thats all they had, I took it hoping to keep checking back for checkout on the 29th.

This will be our first time to the Fort, we are going to take our pop-up, we have wanted to for years but always go resort.....we shall see how it goes! Hoping to have 2 other families along for the trip they booked too but are still waivering, AAA agent said we better take it no matter if we know for sure or not, they can always cancel.

I wonder what's wrong with the same people getting a site year after year? Our first trip was Thanksgiving Weekend 04 and that's our no matter what, we're doing Thanksgiving at the fort. When I booked for 05 I called in March and it was booked, called the next day and wallah, Hadji says we got it. Never give up because getting a ressie at FW is getting about as hard to get as me getting a date with Beyonce. It's very frustrating but chances are if you call every morning at 0700 your chances will increase. I try to book while we're there by going to the Outpost and seeing what they can do. It's a tough weekend but just keep trying. I booked according to my ressie on September 9th, 2007 so you can book way out. BTW, I had to book 11 nights to get that, so try for more nights and if you get it cancel a few days later what you don't want/need.

For T'giving week 2007 I started calling in early August. I called twice a day every day and had pieced together 9 nights by early November. I got it one night at a time. In the midst of all that frustration, I made my ressies for T'giving 2008 - how's that for a quick learner?
