Trying to find NECK COOLERS in Atlanta, GA

Heidi-Ho!

Can anyone help me find the treasured neck coolers, here in Atlanta, GA? I called REI Outdoor supply in Atlanta, and they are selling them for $6.99 through July 4th. This is the price for just one.

My family is going on vacation to WDW 07/16-07/23/05, and it would be splendid if we could get our hands on some before we go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We found ours in Wal-Mart in the camping/sporting goods area next to the ace knee wraps etc. They were very small and hanging very low on the floor so they were very hard to find. I believe they were $2.xx. HTH

These are really easy to make - good instructions are here:

My suggestion is to buy the best cotton abric you can find - go to a quilt store, don't buy fabric at Wal*** or Joann's - cheap, loosely woven fabric! Then preshrink the fabric (wash in hot water) before making these. This will keep the gel from oozing out through the fabric. Also since they are wet most of the time, you'll want to make sure the fabric is colorfast (washing in hot water will show you!).

Here are some sources for the polymer crystals, but you can get them at your local home center - they are the same crystals you add to potting soil to help retain moisture in the soil:

You can make these neckties with the Disney fabric you find in Walmart if you make a seperate sleeve for the gel then cover it with the inexpensive Disney fabric.
I used a tight woven muslin and put in 1 tbsp of the gel then made a cover with the blue and white checked Mickey fabric.
I used the neck cooler that I bought at the outlet last month for the pattern. They only had one of the coolers and it was $3 and it has a lining in it.
I bought a few in Walmart last year that have the "Joe Boxer" type smily face on them. I found them in the sporting goods section also. Peggie

got my neckcooler from sparklingearth.com for $4.99 and its worth it. love it and even put it on my dog when we go for a walk. i keep them wet all the time,in a baggie and they are kept in the frig. nice and cold.

I just found some at the Walmart in Bellingham,MA.They were on an end cap near the food aisles.I bought 6 and almost cleaned them out !I'm going to try one now and see how they work,they were only $2.88.Not the best patterns,but for the price I won't complain!Ds,my dad,and dh's are camoflauge,and dd's,my mom's,and mine are a pink print.HTH someone!

The $3.00 discount was noted on the website - it was for anyone who wasn't doing a "rush" order. It gave a special code to type in when you went to the checkout. I ordered them on Monday and they arrived on Wednesday!!! The Mickey ones are so cute!!
