Trying to find name or picture of a Japanese candy

I was wondering if anyone could help me. In the Japanese pavilion at Epcot, they sell strips of different flavored tiny candies that are similar to sweet tarts. Does anyone have a close-up picture of these candies that they could post? My daughter’s been trying to find out the name of them because she absolutely loved them the last time we traveled to Disney. Thanks for any help,

Thank you! I found them in one of the pictures, but it’s not clear enough to see what they’re called or to get a good visual on them. But it’s the candy that is hanging in strips on the right side of the guy with the backpack. Anyone have a good close-up pic of this type of candy? Thank you so much!

Unless you can read Japanese, it won't help to have a close up, but these candies are sold in a ton of Asian food markets and a popular Japanese dollar store type place called Daiso. We have a bunch of these types of stores where I live. They are basically Sweet Tarts.

Thanks... I’ll have to see if we have any Asian markets around here.. have never heard of Daiso. My daughter is taking Japanese in HS, so that’s why she wants to find them now

Those are called "ramune" (ラムネ). The term is a generic phrase for that kind of candy, rather than a brand name. In fact, the flavor is derived from a popular soft drink of the same name, kind of like how you see cola or root beer candies in the States.

If you Google "ramune candy" you'll see lots of choices, and your daughter can pick out the one that looks most similar to the one she liked at Epcot. Careful - I recommend avoiding the "ramune soda" or the gummy options, as they don't have that same sweet and sour citrusy flavor. I always thought they tasted a lot like "Smarties." Good luck!

Ok, slightly off topic, I know, but...

I found these hard pineapple candies when I was in Japan last year. They taste just like real pineapple juice, not fake candy flavor, and they are delicious!! Thanks for reminding me to get online and try to buy some more! I also had apple ones that they brought around on my JAL flights and they tasted great also, but the pineapple was my fave.

Just a funny side note, too....the little pack of Kleenex in the pic was given to me (a whole handful of them LOL) by the nice fellow at the post office who I struck up a conversation with and who was so thrilled to tell me about his trip to KSC and WDW!! It really is a small world.

Lol yes, actually they do. It's in Katakana, which is one of the 3 Japanese alphabets, and is used to spell foreign words/names.
Top reads like this = Pa i nya po ru
Bottom reads like this = Kya n dei

So cool!!! Thanks for sharing that!! I learned so much before and during my Japan trip, but I didn’t realize there were three different alphabets. There’s so much more I want to learn before my next time! Promised my DD a trip to Tokyo Disney (and more) when she graduates college—which she’ll start in the fall.
