My fiance and girls are BIG into video games this year (I personally hate them lol) and are begging for an XBox 360 for C'mas. Has anyone run across an awesome deal on the system yet this year? I hear I missed out big time on the Wally Nov 7th deal *sob* that had buy one get 100.00 gift card free...still beating myself over that lol..any help would be wonderful!!

Do keep in mind when you're choosing which one to buy that if they are really into gaming they will probably want a system with a hard drive. The XBox 360 Arcade version (which I believe is what was on sale last weekend) doesn't have a hard drive and they'd probably end up having to buy and install one later. The Elite version is more expensive, but it does come with a hard drive and probably is a better choice in the long run.

Agreed. If they're going to play online or plan on downloading ANYTHING, you don't want toe Arcade version.

Target will have this:

Plus a $50 gift card for $299.99 on black friday. There will probably be similar deals at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, etc.

I have nothing to add- but it's nice to see you!

It seems that video games are historically recession proof, but the industry is expecting huge drops in sales this year. While this store or that one may have given gift card, extra games/controllers/accessories in the past as a way of getting the consumer to buy at their store, I think all bets are off this year. I think we're going to be seeing some pretty nice price drops. It's unprecedented really, but I think we'll see it.

Check online at Newegg.com.

cNet has a holiday help desk every holiday season where they talk about tech gadgets and the best places to find them. Their holiday guide is here and they will be having a daily live call in show on cnet TV starting next week but I don't have the times handy.

I'm in the same boat - trying to find the best deal on this system. Another contender is KMart - they'll have the 360 Elite holiday bundle that includes 2 games (299) + a free Halo 3(normally 59.99).
