There are so many choices for hotels in the San Diego and Anaheim area. I want everyone's opinion on which hotels you have stayed at and loved. We are going mid-November for about 10 days, and splitting it between San Diego and Anaheim area. Cast of Characters: Husband and I (in our 40's) kids, girl who will be 16, and boy who will be 13. We have stayed at Homewood Suites, Embassy Suites, Residence Inns and Doubletrees (not all in Southern California, in different locations) and liked them because of the breakfast included and more room than normal hotels. The only one I know of that I'd make an exception for is the Double Tree Mission Valley, I LOVED their chocolate chip cookies and they were very handy to the trolley, and they have a shopping center next door and within a trolley ride too.

I'd like to stay in the $150-200 range per night if possible. I'd like someplace that in a great location because we don't want to rent a car the entire time, but want to be in a good location where public transportation or private transportation (trolleys, buses, etc.) would be able to pick us up and take us places...

Thank you for your information!! If anyone wants to email me privately, tkpowell@mtaonline.net

I LOVE staying at the candy can inn in Anaheim. It has breakfast in the morning included. You can walk to the park or there is a shuttle every 30 mins. I have stayed here 3 times. It also has a pool area. It is about $100 per night.. Discount for AAA members.

San Diego I agree that hotel you mentioned is GREAT!

Will be staying soon at the Best Western Park Place Inn & Suites -- I did extensive research, and having a room that was as close to Disneyland as possible at the best rate was the most important thing. As far as I know, the BW is literally right at the pedestrian walkway, and is 5 minutes from room to Main Street. :-D

Free breakfast as well, but not sure if that was part of our package deal or not (don't think so)...

Hope that helps!

We are planning the same kind of trip but we are traveling with 6 people.

At Disneyland, we have 2 rooms at HoJo's reserved (can't beat that Entertainment Rate!) and the family suite at Camelot Inn (have a cold continental breakfast). We are trying to decide between the 2 places (1 bathroom and closer? or 2 bathrooms and a little further walk?). Neither Candy Cane or Best Western Park Place Inn had availability for our dates.

In San Diego, we are really struggling with our decision. It is so much more expensive! We will have a rental for the entire 9 night trip so we are now considering renting a condo through VRBO.com for that leg of the trip.

We have never been to CA so I am interested in the posts!

I've have great results with priceline for the Disneyland/Anaheim area. Usually get Hyatt, Hilton and one time Marriott suites. Very pleased with all three hotels. I bid in the that area, when I can't get a good AP rate, almost a dozen times. I've usually get accepted bids between $45 & $65.

I would suggest staying just outside of SD, there's some good Marriot courtyards. and there's a holiday inn near Mission Bay that is good.

last time I was there I stayed at a hotel I think it was a Holiday Inn,
and the Chargers Training camp was staying in the same hotel :D
