Trying to decide--Kodak playsport HD waterproof or Itouch 32g with speaker?

Help me decide:

We are going on a cruise in March so my original decision was to get a Kodak Playsport $109--like a flip--that is waterproof to use on the cruise. Some reviews say the software is not as good on the windows programs which is what I have

Then there is a deal with the itouch for $269 for the 32g newest generation with a speaker for free on amazon. I don't have any kind of ipod and don't know if I will use it.

What would you do?

Your comparing apples and oranges. Do you want an mp3 player or a video camera? Of course you can take video and pictures with the ipod but they will noy be as sharp as the ones that you take with an actual camera. Ifyou want a camera get the Kodak. If you want a portable music device then get the ipod.

I agree that you are comparing two totally different items and it depends what you are planning to do with it.
I have the playsport (bought it a month ago at Staples for under $100 from info I found here for our cruise in 2 weeks). It is not as difficult to use as the reviews I read said, there are a bunch of tutorials on you tube to show you how to convert it to windows files (very easy to follow). It was rated #1 by consumer reports and I have been totally happy with it.

As far as the Ipod Touch, it is like having a mini computer- it does a ton MORE than recording videos. The quality of video on the playsports is way better (and can be done underwater) than the ipod touch.

For a cruise, I personally would get the Kodak Playsport. There are so many things that you will be able to/want to record. However, I am worried because I just bought my nephew the Playsport. You mention that the software is difficult to use with windows. I decided on the Playsport over the Flip- mainly because it was waterproof but also because it was cheaper. He is only 11 though and I wouldn't want him to have something that is difficult to use. Can anyone give me more information about this?

linnylu~ The software for it really isn't all that difficult. And if your nephew is anything like all the kids I know ( mine included) they're much more computer savvy than us adults anyways.

If the Ipod is new enough to do video than it is a good choice...

I bought the Playsport just before our trip to WDW in Sept. and love it! Easy to use and great quality. Only thing I messed up on a few times was having the setting on the water setting when shooting outside of the water. The sound quality is muddy if you do that. I love being able to hook it up quickly to my t.v. to view movies and pictures. I acually bought it more for the underwater photos than for the video but I love the video.

I used it recently to take video of DD11's last few softball games, at night. I attached it to the backstop using my Gorilla pod and it took great video under the lights.

If you get one be prepared for a lot of comments from people. Most people assume it's a cell phone when they see it. The comments and/or looks you get when you take it in the water are pretty funny.

Not sure if this is what your talking about, but Target's Cyber Monday (or week) sale has a Kodak waterproof cam-corder for less than $100.

You don't have to use the Playsport software, either.

I use Photoshop for my photos from all my Kodaks.
