Cost is about $900 more to add in. Granted, it's a steal if you hit up buffets especially for kids price, especially character ones. I know there will be no free dining as we are going next thanksgiving but we keep going back and forth about this or upgrading to the CL floor. Any advice?

Figure out your rough food budget as if you had no dining plan. If the dining plan included food for that comes out to more than $900, it should be worth it. If not, it's probably not.

Typically, it works best when you already wish to dine in the manner the plan was designed:
-- CS Lunch & TS Dinner
-- Higher end of the price spectrum locations
-- Higher end of the price spectrum menu items
-- Already interested in soft drinks and dessert at each meal

You can use menus at AllEars.net to get an idea of item cost (they'll likely change between now and next Thanksgiving, but it should give a general idea).

To add to the above, also no desire for appetizers or alcohol and don't forget that tip is not included in the dining plan. Also, if you are the sort to normally split entrees here and there that doesn't help either. :thumbsup2

That's what I'm wondering. We don't overly do table service with 3 small kids. We try to plan 2 character meals and one table service elsewhere. However, we were going to sit down and figure up the places we want to eat and see what it would come too. If we do character breakfast we usually just do a snack lunch and then grab QS dinner.
