Trying to decide dates for January trip

I’d like to arrive early enough to still experience the holiday decorations, but not so early as to have the worst of the holiday crowds, What do you think it would be like arriving by 1/4 or 1/5? I’d also like to be gone before the half marathon crowd arrives. Does 1/4-10 or 1/5 to 1/11 sound like it would be decent? Thanks.

I am in southern California. Both my HS student and my college student go back to school on Jan 8.

You can also look at Magic Key block out dates. Other than the top MK, Jan 6 is blocked out for all keys. Jan 7 might be busy because it is the first weekend date that most MK holders can go back to the park after being blocked out for 2-3 weeks.
