Trying to decide between ME and rental

I am coming into MCO in the evening. The plane is supposed to land at 6PM, and I have dinner ADR for 8:25. I have experienced the ME lines in the morning, so I know I may be pushing it kinda close.

However, if the lines aren't as long in the evenings, maybe it won't take that long to board the coach???

Otherwise, I may just rent a car and return it at the Swolphin.

So, Dissers what are your thoughts on this?

I would stick with DME and then maybe use the $ you save for a cab to the ADR if you need it.

My average trip on DME is just over an hour - IMHO not waiting on luggage saves alot of time and the convenience can't be beat.

I think by the time you wait for your bags, drag them to the rental counter, do the paperwork, cross the bridge to the rental cars and then drive to disney it would be close to the time spent waiting and then sitting on the bus. .

But I admit I like DME .... by the time we arrive at MCO I am done! I like not having to deal with our luggage, do paperwork or drive, then having my bags waiting in the room later in the day takes the cake :)

Are your ADR's at your resort? I only ask, since it is normally recommended to allow 90 minutes for the DME and 1 hour or more to get to another resort. You should be able to make an ADR with 2.5 hours, but there is always the possibility that you get delayed. My experience with DME at 6 pm was that we were first on the bus, and waited over 1 hour before it departed. Then we went to 2 other resorts before ours. I think it took almost 2.5 hours from MCO to the Poly that night. Lucky for us our ADR was at the Poly. Hope you have good luck!

My ADR is at the Poly, but we are not staying at the Poly. We have to get to our resort then bus to MK and monorail to the Poly.

We stayed at POR and had an ADR at the Poly. Took us an hour to get there on the bus then the monorail. Very frustrating.

I agree with tjmw2727. Unless you need/want a car for a few days anyway, just go with ME.

If you are delayed and don't think you'll make it to the Poly in time, take a cab from your resort to the Poly. That will cost about $20.

A car will run at least $50, plus gas (to top off the tank) and you'll have to make the time to return it. Depending on when you are going, you may run into parking snags at the POLY, too. If you are unfamiliar with the WDW roads, I would not recommend choosing after dark for your first experience, either.

Just food for thought.
