If you're talking morning EMH, you definitely need to be AT the park at least 30 min before scheduled opening. You want to be there for that full hour to take full advantage and stay one step ahead of those who don't get up for the EMH. If you have park hoppers, it's an easier decision as you can hop to another park once things start to seem to crowded at the EMH park.
If you're talking about the evening EMH, then it always depends on what time the regular closing is. The later the closing, the better the late EMH, and if know you'll stay until the bitter end, the shorter the lines will get. However, if regular closing is 8 or 9, then you'll have lots of company all the way to the end of EMH and, IMHO, it's not worth the effort.
I always try and avoid EMH .. just my way of planning .. to me I would rather choose a park with shorter hours and lesser crowds .. Quality over Quantity...
