Hiya! Not sure where to post this... And I gotta preface this by saying.... I am soooo turned around planning this trip, this post is long and zig zags a bit... sorry!

I am hosting a get together at WDW in two weeks and would like to put together some welcome gifts for the 4 families....

I kinda have an idea of what I want get... I think Mickey ears with everyones names on them would make a wonderful start, Mickey pretzels, water bottles, big suckers... that sort of thing...

BUT I cant fathom how to get that many mickey ears, let alone personalizing 24 hats, while I am there.... I suppose I could head over to DTD... but I wonder how much time it would take... is there a limit? Plus I have MY family to consider too... taking time from our vacation to do it.

I saw on Gifts of a lifetime, they offer personalized Mickey ears for 16 bucks... but @ 24.... well, that is a bit steep.

Anyone know if I can preorder these from Disney and pick them up?

Other suggestions? We are all staying at OKW (in 2 bedroom units) so there is a huge WOW factor just walking into the villa, but I would like to add a huge glop of icing on top of that cake, to get the jaws to hit the floor.... Ya know?

Break down of families...

two families of 7, one set has all kids under 10, the other has teens in the mix
two families of 5, both with kids 5 and under...

ramble ramble... swirl swirl...

Any thoughts! I am so lost! LOL

I wouldn't take that much time form my vacation to get Mickey ears engraved or spend that much. I'm more the practical type. Will they really wear/use Mickey ears, even the kids, especially the teens? The kids would probably prefer Disney dollars. How about ordering pins on cheappins.com and some lanyards to get them started on pin trading? Sunscreen would be nice, Neutrogena makes an awesome sunscreen stick that we used constantly, it's small and oil free you don't see it on your face at all. Matching Disney t-shirts for everyone would be fun. Do they use refillable mugs where you are staying? Snacks for the parks that don't melt, like blow pops, smarties, gum, etc. Disposable cameras or extra film. How about a set of family radios for each group in case they want to split up in the parks. Heck I got mine on sale for $20 and they work great, 2 mile radius. Have fun putting together your gift baskets. Sounds like fun.

I wouldn't do the Mickey ears. Some of the kids probably will not wear them so why waste the time?

Disney Dollars are a great idea! They can use them for almost anything at WDW.

Sunscreen is another great idea.

Not sure if I would do the matching shirts, either. Would the teens wear them?

The Mickey bottle openers are cute. Maybe some type of lanyard or pins. How about a disposable camera? Any age group would be able to have fun with one of those.

Disney related candy and snacks are always good.

I think gifts also has the name badges that look like the cast members. Those are fun. You could pick up some things before you go at the Disney Store, little candies, pins etc. Have a fun family trip.:D

I'd skip the ears too. They might be ok for the little kids but I doubt the teens and adults would wear them. I'd go for the disposable cameras like others have suggested. Doubt the adults and teens would want the suckers either. Maybe make one basket for the little kids and another for the teens and adults.

I think I like the idea of giving them disposable cameras. At our Target they have them with Disney themes like the Princesses and Toy Story. I would throw in a Disney photo album. I als would try to have them done before the trip. You can even mail them ahead of time so they will be there when you arrive. They could be brought up to your room when you arrive.
Also, I think the pins and lanyards are a great idea. As well as mickey pretzles, suckers and such. I just think it would be easier for you to just do it all ahead of time. You can find great Disney themed things at the Disney store and other tores too.
I don't think you should spend the money or time on the Mickey ears when only a fraction of the people will actually wear it! Give them things they will all use and enjoy on the trip. Disney Dollars are great for the kids.
Have fun!!!
By the way, this is really nice of you :jumping1:

I don't know what they have now, but I have seen Disney things at the Dollar Tree at the mall I used to work at. Waterbottles, bags, key chains, stickers and coloring books for the little kids. Is it the first time any of them have been to the park? You can get a small, inexpensive guidebook at the bookstore. There's about a jillion different ones, and some are geared toward families with kids.

I think the shirts sound like a fun idea. After thinking a little about the ears, I wouldn't get them. Chances are the kids won't wear them. I remember getting a pair when I was little and I wore them for maybe an hour. After that I couldn't tell you what happened to them. Also I wouldn't put a child's name on anything that everyone can see. This is for safety reasons. There are some scarey people out there and they, too, go to Disney.:( I like the idea of the refillable mugs, lanyards and pins. I'm not sure if there will be any rain but Mickey rain poncho's may be a good idea too. I remember when we were there last year they had little footballs and baseballs with Disney characters on them, that could be an idea for the boys and something princess related for the girls. You might be able to get them at the Disney Store too, I'm not sure. With the sales they have had lately it may be worth a trip to see what they have:)

I'd go to dollar tree they usually have great stuff for gift baskets
including the shrink wrap needed to seal them up
I've seen disney giant lollipops, keychains, stickers.
If its for adults too how about a photo frame
disposable camera is good too
DT has those glow sticks also
Oh and they have lots of plastic baskets some with handles that you could use for holding all the goodies
