Have an ADR where I couldnt get a 3 person ADR only a 2 person ADR.

Would it be difficult to add a child at the restaurant once I arrived?

Try modifying the reservation online or on the app. They may or may not be able to fit another person.

It might be. The CM has to count everyone, so even a baby might be a problem if the restaurant is at capacity.

I have done this before when my FL relatives last minute decided to join us for the day. They almost always have been able to accomodate. Obviously it is not guaranteed, but that has been my experience

It depends on where you are going and when you are going. If you are there over Christmas, then it is highly unlikely they will be able to add the person to your reservation. And then you either don't eat together and your friend finds someplace else to eat, or you all decide to eat together and you are charged a no show fee. I would keep trying to add them to your reservation. Obviously if you are unable to add them, the restaurant must be booked.

well you'll have to go from a 2 seater table to a 4 seater table and the restaurant may just not have that availability. you can always go up to the hostess stand to check, but be prepared for them to say no, and if you don't check in you may get hit with the $10 no show fee.

I agree with PP that it makes it a little more difficult being that you're going from a 2 top to a 4 top table now. Some restaurants can more easily accommodate 2 tops if they have many of them. You can certainly ask though, but be prepared to wait a little bit or be turned away in the worst case.

They will not hit you with a fee if they turn you away because you show up with an extra person. They will probably seat you if it isn't a top restaurant. If it is a top restaurant, it will be luck of the draw whether they allow it or not. You might have an extra wait before being seated.

Keep trying to modify (use Touring Plans' free reservation finder service), but if that doesn't work, still go and see what happens.

We have gone from 2 to 3 on several occasions. Sometimes, we have been able to do this through the APP. Sometimes the resort front desk has done it. Sometimes calling the restaurant works, and other times, stopping at the restaurant the day before or day of works.
Good Luck, its much easier to decrease, than increase.

How exactly? An ADR for 3 would put you at the same table that the ADR for 4 would.

Just a quirk of the system, from what I understand. Even number ADRs are usually easier to find.

Also, it's better to have an ADR for more people than you have than less. There's no penalty to have an ADR for 4 and show up with 3, but if you have an ADR for 2 and show up with 3 they may not be able to accommodate the extra person.
