DH & I are celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary at WDW this year! :cloud9:

We have been many many times over the years, starting when I was pregnant with our daughter 24 years ago! Our children, now 28 and 23 are Disney fanatics as well and we have all been to my happy place a lot!!! LOL!

Anyways!......DH & I have not been as a couple for many years and I have decided to try a bunch of new restaurants this time. I'm hoping you all can give me some advice on a) if our choices are smart ones, and b) what are the very best items to order at the new places we've chosen! :surfweb:

So here are my choices for our anniversary trip. Please let me know what you think (DH has always left the WDW planning up to me, and I do love it but I'm nervous this time!). We've done V&A and Le Cellier and many other great places. We are not on the dining plan.

Breakfast: Tusker House at AK (our only character meal)
Lunches: Yak & Yeti, Liberty Tree, Tutta Italia, Sci Fi Drive In, Coral Reef
Dinners: Jiko, Kona Cafe, Brown Derby, Bistro de Paris, San Angel Inn, House of Blues

Our only repeats are Sci Fi , San Angel, and Brown Derby and we have not been to any of these since our childen were very little. We did Liberty Tree as a character dinner many times but have never been for lunch.

All your choices sound great, but I would include Ohana's for dinner at the Polynesian. Also, we recently ate at Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom and it was actually very good food and cute atmosphere. Happy planning! :woohoo:

you have some great choices. We recently did AK breakfast and enjoyed it so much. We have gone there with and without the grandkids....I am also glad to see that you have Tutto Italia......the food and the service were fantastic. How about trying Prime Time in MGM studios...oops I mean DHS. The chicken and the meatloaf were pretty darn good........Hope you have a great anniversary. We were celebrating our 43rd....great fun.

Liberty Tree isn't very good, although not terrible.
Sci-Fi Dine In and Coral Reef are great!

Your list looks good. We love Kona Cafe and Sci Fi, San Angel Inn and Tutto Italia. Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern is one of my favorites. Ooey gooey toffee cake is out of this world!:lovestruc

Our family LOVES Tusker House and Sci Fi.
We are also trying Yak & Yeti and Coral Reef for the first time this September. We are super excited! Enjoy your "honeymoon!"

Your lunches look great!!! Yak & Yeti, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Sci-Fi are all on my favorites list!! We also really loved San Angel Inn, though we went for lunch and I see you're going for dinner. Looks like you have some really good choices!!:thumbsup2

We definitely want to try Ohana at some point, but it is booked solid this time. We've been to Tony's a whole lot already. Thanks though! :)

So good to hear good things about Tutta Italia and the Tusker House breakfast! This will be the first trip (of about 12!) that we have NOT gone to Prime Time!! How wonderful that you were there for your 43rd!!

Hopefully we will like Liberty Tree and we'll definitely try the toffee cake!
So good to hear such good things about Sci Fi!

Our family LOVES Tusker House and Sci Fi.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and it does feel like a second honeymoon!! :cloud9:

Thanks! Hopefully dinner at San Angel will be good as well! :thumbsup2

I LOVE Yak and Yeti. I always go there for lunch on my AK days. My favorite items are the Wok Fried Geen Beans and the Hoisin BBQ Ribs. I really liked the Malaysian Seafood Curry but it seems like they've taken it off the menu. :sad2:

Coral Reef was decent. The setting is definitely fun but the food was hit or miss. The Saffron Shrimp appetizer was really great, but AVOID any of the Ceasar Salads! The dressing was like yellow mayo - gross!

Jiko was excellent. Really interesting and unusual flavors for most people. I loved the Ostrich Appetizer, the Trio of Breads and Dips, and the BBQ Chicken Flatbread.

Thanks so much for the suggestions on what to order! :yay:

Yak n Yeti - great choice!! We had such good service here and the food was to die for. I had the sweet and sour chicken, and split a delicious brownie ice cream for dessert.

Kona Cafe - Been here many times, it's definitely in my top 5. I always get the Asian Noodles, they are delicious, and then the White Chocolate Cheesecake :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

House of Blues - The food is pretty basic here, you get what you expect, but nonetheless, the food is great and that's why I've been here many times. It's yummy! I think you've made some great choices! :)

From last week review, we tried Tusker House at AK for the first time. It was not bad, but not as good as the other character breakfasts are Ohana, Cape May, and Akerhus. I thought the breakfast at Chef Mickey was better than Tusker House, and it is not one of my favorites. Also, Tusker House was a lot louder than others and quite warm. Both I and diners at other tables were sweating inside for a 8:00 Am breakfast. Not a good sign.

Yak & Yeti was excellent. I had the sweet&sour chicken and DW had sweet and sour pork our last trip. Both were excellent. We were able to sit upstairs and look out the front window at the park and people walking by. It was really fun. The cream cheese thing for dessert was really good.

Jiko was excellent as well. I had the fillet, bbq chicken flatbread, and pistaccio creme brulee - all 3 were excellent. We also had a cauliflower soup complimentary as we stayed at AKL which was terrific. I would definitely go back to Yak & Yeti and Jiko.

We've been to Sci Fi Drive In, Coral Reef, and Kona in the past, but did not go this trip. We've been repeats at Sci-fi and Kona and definitely would make plans to return. Coral Reef was really good a few years ago - risotto was excellent, but there are so many other restaurants at Epcot I haven't tried, it will be awhile before I get back to Coral Reef.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their feedback! We are so looking forward to this anniversary trip! :goodvibes
