. . . false. It is not used for anything. Besides, since it is imperative to remain anonymous (to comply with the RULES), faking an email address is actually a good way to help guarantee your privacy. It's merely a tool, no different than the fake name that you take in VMK in the first place!

I think because it's Disney that they would know how to protect your information. That's why I freely put my name and email address. I mean it can't hurt anyone. Besides for those that have fake emails they can't become Community Leaders. lol And for mules all you have to do is put your year of birth at a more recent year and it doesn't make you have a email address! It just asks for your parents!

Sorry, i guess i am not with this new trend. If you do not have something not nice to say dont say it even if it does annoy you.I do it all the time.

True - let me count the ways:

1) Making up an e-mail address is the equivalent of submitting false information, or in other words, lying. You may do it just to create a mule, but others could do it in an attempt to try and avoid responsibility for their actions or statements, partiularly when those actions or statements may be against the terms of service and in violation of the spirit of VMK as a kid-friendly environment.

Side note - Creating a mule may be the questionable equivalent of using a pseudonym (it comes down to whether it equates to theft or fraudulent use of the VMK service provided free by Disney, or a violation of the terms of service), but again, outright lying - deliberaterly providing a invalid e-mail address that effectively attempts to avoid accountability - is wrong.

2) Arguing that submitting a false e-mail address actually conforms to the VMK policy of providing no personal information misses the clear distinction between (a) your communications with Disney in the course of registering for the service and (b) your communications with other users of the service. The prohibition on sharing personal information is related only to the later.

3) Your privacy is already protected by the terms of service and Disney's privacy policy, which you can either accept as adequate or choose not to use their service.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but that's the way I see it. I just want to see VMK remain a safe and free environment, and I think lying lessens the chance of that being the case.

Wow! I never thought of it that way! Well put! :worship:

You know, the lack of proper English on the net has bothered me for quite a while. But I never thought to berate someone else's children about it before.
Last I knew, regardless of whether it fits into the rules of the language, it is still legal for misspell.

Getting back to the topic.

Before I got my e-mail address,I used my gram's.

When I make mules I ppick an address no one will pick.

::yes::

Go to hotmail.com or any other free email service and create a real email address. Then use it for vmk. How hard is that! It's submitting true information and protects you if you fear getting spam. Personally, I've never received any emails from disney except in response to any of my queries. I'm registered with disneyland.com and vmk. As for creating mules... I have three characters in vmk myself, but i don't use them in a malicious way or even call them mules, lol. VMK should have an email verification step before you are allowed to enter the game. Otherwise people can log in to be mean or hateful and a ban would be a laughable punishment. Plus, if it's a younger child, the parent's email provided would get an annoucement of the child using vmk service. Most other companies require email verification, why not disney?

They want VMK to be very easy to get into. The more people in VMK, the more people going down to the parks to get stuff for VMK (which is their goal, to get more people in the parks).

I understand your point, however safety is vmk and disney's first priority. Email verification is a simple step (I'm not sure how simple it is programming-wise) to protect people in vmk from those that act contrary to vmk values. Next, and still a very big priorty, is getting more people to come to their parks. Hopefully during the off seasons. I'm very close to DLR. The signs passing the resort exclaimed "Disneyland Full, California Adventure Open, Happy Holidays" every weekend in December and from christmas eve through the day before new years eve.

I went to disneyland on sunday the 7th and on monday the 8th. Two - different - worlds. Example: cast members were saying the line at the annual pass center was an hour and a half long on Sunday. Monday, there was no line every time I passed it by. That situation was mirrored by the attractions for the most part. The new monsters ride, the equivalent of pinocchio or snow white's scary adventure (kiddy/fantasyland style), was over an hour wait in California Adventure on Sunday. Monday, 10 mins. Proverbially selling out on certain days only to go to 5-min waits the next. I think they just need to figure out how to spread attendance out... if that's even possible, since they've probably been trying for more than 50 years now.

Ok, vmk's open now, see ya!

Actually Disney does do this....it is up to you to verify it once email is received and I expect that sometime in the future VMK may terminate accounts.

I think you may be right. Star has a few mules. They all go to valid e-mail accounts, however, I have not given them permission. For some reason VMK wants credit card for valification even though they do not charge to it. So I've told him a dozen times to be careful with his mules. Not to give them too much stuff, because they may not be there some day.

they only want the credit card because that proves you are an adult well supposed to but these days so many children have cc that it proves nothing.... :teeth:
