I've started a new thread for Gatordad to tell us about his truck/trannie issues! :goodvibes And, it's on-topic because I'm sure he uses this truck to pull his trailer to FW, right?

And, since we're talking about trailers - we're looking at a "Shamrock" that was just traded in at a dealer near us. It's a 2007, with a back slideout. They're asking $10k for it. It's very nice! Hmmm.....

Oh....and we would pull it with our 05 Dodge Ram 2500 (that doesn't have trannie issues yet.) ;)

My last truck had a chip in it and overpowered the tranny. It split the case in half from front to back, and left pieces everywhere. It also ate a turbo about every 3 weeks... but this is the tranny thread... so I won't go into that ....:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

can I have your 2500 if you win the lottery...... if i had the money, that's what i'd get to pull the turdhauler.

Basically, the trannie is "fried". all the forward clutches are shot. The dealer first tried to put it on AAA for towing it frontwards, then they are trying to say the turdhauler is too heavy. I haven't heard from them regarding today's shenanigans. That's why we weren't at the Fort this weekend......

Although I really like the convenience of the autos, I won't have one in a truck I intend to use to haul with. Especially the autos in the Fords and Dodges. The Allison in the Chevy might be worth considering though.

I had a programmer in my 2000 7.3 never had a problem but ford told me I would fry my tranny. My neighbor gave me a programmer for my 05 but it has the 6.0 in it and you know how problematic they can be so I have never put it in. Open to opinions on installing it though.

The son put a program on the fly chip in my 2003 7.3 last Christmas. Towed the FW once since then and it really drops into gear hard. So I place it in stock haul until it runs thru the gears then I step it up to 75hp increase. It holds O/D better in that position.
I can go up to 150hp increase that's only good to blow black exhaust and smoke the tires.

Ya gotta love this lady....she's JUST smart alek enough to get her point accross and yet remain completely polite. I......I think I LOVE YOU!!!!:worship: ;)

what kinda truck/trans is it gatordad? if its a dodge i might be able to help with info/ poss spare parts/my discounted prices on parts-those other brands not so much.

oh, the allisons good, but dodge has got a new trans behind the 6.7 cummins that supposedly makes the allison somewhat weak

for those with diesel trucks under the year of 2007. with the ulsd are you using an additive for lubricity. our neighbor is a truck driver and part time diesel mechanic and he says it should be used and I have seen in some Rv magazines they say it is not necessary. it is probably too early to tell if the ulsd will hurt the engine over time. just curious as to what the Dis diesel guys and gals think.

I don't remember the exact year, but what I've heard is that engines built after 1999 or some such are okay. Prior to that you might want to use and additive.

And to answer the question, no I do not use any additive in my fuel.

I hadn't heard the 1999 thing guess I need to do some research before buying anymore additive. thanks
