Trouble booking at home resort

Yes! Cancel & rebook anyone looking to add a day or more. Dropping a day should be allowed without a rebook, and run the wait list in between otherwise it's essentially the same as continuing to allow walking.

If we did the above, would this have effected my reservations in the past? Yes. I frequently book long before I grab airfare, and then adjust accordingly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Having home resort advantage does nothing for us once that 7 month window is met.

I agree that walking is a problem. But I would have been upset if adding 3 days to our week's reservation (for us to stay a total of 10 nights) was treated as a cancel and rebook, and we lost our week in the process.

View first part of December as a two week period. The first and second week of December are, respectively, the highest and third highest DVC demand weeks of the year at WDW (Christmas week is second). That first week, which can back up into Nov a little bit is extreme even in comparison to the second week and Christmas week. For the first two weeks of Dec, a critical factor is that the points needed are in adventure season, the lowest of all seasons, the crowds are not overwhelming. the annual DVC board meeting with members is often the second week, all Christmas decorations are up and all Christmas events are going on, and since DVC has now been around for 25 years, there are a huge number of members who are no longer limited to going in accordance with school schedules.

I would also guess the first week of Dec would be most popular (compared to the other weeks in Dec) in addition to the previous reasons because it allows you to get in your disney holiday trip AND get home to do your shopping, decorating, etc in time for Christmas :)

Personally I'd suggest all changes are a cancel and rebook AND run the wait list before they go to inventory.

You'd just have to book the 3 days on their own and link them. I'd also suggest allowing up to 2 weeks at a time rather than 7 days but without the ability to just drop days.

We own at VWL, AKL, VGF and have only had trouble booking AKL club level. We've stayed club level once so far, and again this Dec. i'm still missing the last two days of our trip. Ive waitlisted, but we are probably not going to get it.

I totally agee.

Just booked today which is april 24 for std view studio at BLT for 5 days for March 1 -6.

Also booked BW -2 bedrm std view for same dates.

Just got GFV 1 bedroom std view at3 days past the 7 month window for Friday and sat thanksgiving week
And got poly std view studio right at 7 month window and booked another day today which is 3 days from the 7 month window.

Last year got 2 bedroom at BLT during spring break....which was a crazy busy week....at 3 months out. It was a total challenge...I had to check 5 times a day....plus I needed a lock off and lake view....couldn't believe I got it because there are 6 cat. Of 2 bedrooms at BLT's.

The room availability tool on the website is awesome...it's under planning. It lets you check out what's available at every resort and every cat. Great time saver.

on a separate note is club worth it? it is available for my dates but i can't make my mind up

We own at AKV, BLT and Aulani. We have had problems only with AKV for a Club Level room. We got it once but had to cancel and have never been able to get one again. I given up since they no longer offer the sunrise safari to concierge guests. I really prefer a savanna view room at a lower level, so I prefer Kidani Village. We have not had any problems with BLT or Aulani at the 11 month mark. If we wait at Aulani till the 8 month mark, the standard view rooms are often booked. Sometimes the standard views at BLT are booked by 8 month mark, but not consistently.

Whether Jambo club is worth it really depends on what you want to get out of your stay and room. Up until now I've only wanted a savanna view so I could sit on the balcony with a drink and relax. Club views are not the best views, but what they do offer are services such as daily room service, drinks and snacks. If you don't want to have to stock your own room with such items, or head to places that offer such items it can be worth it.

Take heed.. I have heard too many people think the food offerings are meal replacements, and will line up, stock up their plates and leave others with the bottom of the barrel to snack on. It's a shame really, to think one has to be at the lounge at a certain time if you want to even sample the hot items, or elusive zebra domes (which are offered for sale in the QS at a very reasonable price).
