Hi,

16 year DVC member here. Recently tried booking a studio at ANY DVC resort for the week of Nov. 7. NO STUDIOS AVAILABLE except for Saratoga Springs. Our home resort is Old Key West. I thought we were supposed to be guaranteed our home resort regardless of when we booked. Any thoughts?
 .... the dancing banana seems to make things all better....ahhhh.

All reservations, regardless of home resort status, are based on availability. Owners have a 4 month reservation priority advantage at their home resort, but within 7 months any member can make reservations at any DVC resort - also based on availability.

Had you tried at 11 months, there would likely have been no problem getting a studio for November, but 3 months away many others have had almost 4 months to reserve at your home resort.

There has never been a guarantee for specific dates at any of the WDW home resorts and some times of the year have really become popular. You'd find the same issue right now if you tried to reserve during the first two weeks in December. I suspect you might still be able to find something in September though.

Aulani is now selling some fixed week memberships where members can own a specific week each year so those members are guaranteed a specific week without worry about other owners reserving that villa, but otherwise inside 7 months everything is fair game.

Sorry you couldn't find what you wanted at OKW (you might still find a 1BR or 2BR though).

You are booking very late. You are never guaranteed a reservation at your home sort. Booking is first come first served being a 16 year member you should know that.

Try a wait list. Good luck.

Being a long time member does not make you understand all of the ins and outs of a DVC membership. I noticed that the OP has only made 3 posts here on the DIS. Reading here on the DISboards will educate the OP about the DVC more than the average member can learn on their own.

We are fairly new members (May 2009) and we often speak to DVC members while dining or standing in lines at the parks. Many do not understand how the DVC works.

I'm just grateful that we found this forum shortly after we bought. And to nukemedteck, it's okay to ask questions, there are many here that are willing to answer them.
