So now that it looks like Katia won't be a big impact on the Bahamas or Bermuda. That's good news!

Now here comes Maria and it's projected to hit the Bahamas dead on. Ugh. This is our first crusie and lesson learned. We will never again book a cruise during Hurricane season, at least towards the end of the season (August-October).

I'll be crushed if I don't get to Castaway Cay!

We are watching it too. We sail on the 18th with a double dip to CC
Still debating on purchasing cruise insurance.

Hurricane season lasts 6 months (June 1-Nov. 30). Storms can have an adverse effect on the ability to fly to Orlando - whether you're going to WDW or on a cruise.

We purchased the insurance through Disney when we booked the trip. We always get the insurance when we go to WDW and now for our first cruise. I hope I don't need to use it.

We leave for POFQ next week, and the extended forecast looks, damp, shall we say!!!

Pixie Dust, pleeeaaazzz!

DH doesnt believe that it CAN RAIN at Disney.... HA HA.... he asks me every time I pack the ponchos, why I am bothering.....

Lets hope this time hes right!!

Tell him you pack the ponchos as insurance that you won't need them. :cool1: If you leave them home you'll wish you'd brought them. :confused3

I live in Florida and the active time is mid August to early Oct. We have been to the Bahamas in Jan and missed CC

Dont give up hope yet! It could still turn a number of different ways from what they are forecasting. This is our first Disney cruise and have been looking forward to it for months!!! We leave on Sunday from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas, and I'm faithful everything will be ok! Maybe its wishful thinking??? lol Either way, we purchased trip insurance so we'll just have to wait and see. Keeping fingers crossed!!!

Now here comes Maria and it's projected to hit the Bahamas dead on.

The latest model from the Weather Channel shows Maria's projected path missing the Bahamas by a wide margin. As of now, she'll be taking that northeast turn much like Katia is doing now. No need to panic.

maria is not likely to hit the Bahamas, there is a cold front planted right in front of it, it will turn, by how much is the question

So far it is looking good for the Bahamas. It is not in "the cone." I just hope it stays that way. Now if only other storms would stop popping up. :) Wishful thinking!

That can happen any time of year. If there are rough seas, it can damage the ship to be up close to the dock. We almost missed Grand Cayman last year due to high winds making it difficult to tender.
They will never jeopardize safety.

I'm leaving Sunday on the Dream for a B2B, so I've been watching it like a hawk.

Hakuna Matata!!!! :D

We are booked for Sept 2012 on Fantasy and I hope and pray that a hurricane or any adverse weather hurts where we live or where we are headed on our cruise! I definitely bought the insurance, what good it'll do, I hope I never have to find out~~

Yo soy Cozumel, y estoy del pie!

I am Cozumel and I am on my feet!

Tropical storm.... no problem.... Wilma hit here in Cozumel on October 20, 2005, when I was preggers with my son.

No airport runways, no piers, no electricity, no water... yet the community pulled together and had the Island up and running, welcoming cruise ships in a little less than a month... take a peek...

:scared1:

:sad2: :sad1: Wow, they changed that track fast!! We have to keep hope that it will move back towards the east...

As luck would have it, a new Tropical Storm is ramping up. It's too early to tell, but the projected path has it hitting the Bahamas around the same time as the 9/11 Dream cruise (the one I'm on, of course), gets there.

Lets all gather our good vibes :goodvibes and help push that thing north.

Personally, if it stays on track, I hope DCL moves our Castaway Cay day to Monday instead of Tuesday. I'd rather miss Nassau (even swimming with the dolphins), than CC.
