Anyone else going next week who nervous like me over what this storm can mean weatherwise? It *looks* like he's heading west, but I'm worried about rain and water park closures. Not to mention a bumpy flight and potentially getting stuck at the airport.

I'm sure you are not alone in your worrying. Just don't let that put a damper on the anticipation. You are going to be on vacation and things will be wonderful.

You may want to avoid most of the main-stream news channels when monitoring the storm. So many of them just want to keep you watching so they play up the dangers (not that you should discount it) rather than focus on most likely. The National Weather Service Hurricane Center is a good source to monitor these storms.

Imagine going on a cruise during that time. October is an inexpensive time to cruise, but it is hurricane season; we followed a hurricane to Bermuda 4 years ago. 1900 people on the ship and only 8 of us were at the buffet the next morning.

I logged on today to the cruise line to do my final paperwork for our trip next month. The link to the warning for Isaac stated that passengers were encouraged to check online asap and provide an emergency contact. Ouch.

You do not worry until you something to worry about. Disney is well prepared for these events. NOAA is the greatest source of info for weather events.

We have gone over labor day for the past 3 years and narrowly missed a few hurricanes. It could thin out the crowds (trying to think positive)! but let's hope for the best. I heard today the projected route is going to bypass Tampa and is now heading towards Louisiana. Bring your rain gear.

From what I can see at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ and my past experience, the parks are not going to close (at this time, it doesn't even look like much of the storm will hit the Kissimmee area) and you aren't going to get stuck at the airport. An airport closing is a major thing and the FAA only does it when absolutely needed. Not sure where you are flying from, how many stops you have but I think the most you MIGHT have to concern yourself with at this moment is IF a connection is delayed.

I'm driving to Disney World on Friday and I've been watching Isaac myself. After being at the World for Hurricane Francis, this storm will be a small blip on my radar. And I also went right after Hurricane Floyd.

Out of 16 years living in the Central Florida area I can remember WDW (and the other outlying parks) closing once. That was when Hurricane Charlie was due to hit and then they stayed open 1/2 day and reopened the next day. As a matter of fact, WDW will be the best place to stay in a hurricane. They have their emergency operation down to a "T" and you should be perfectly fine. I do know that some families living in a hurricane projected area will try to book a room at WDW. Relax and enjoy. At least this will be an experience to remember.

They also closed for hurricanes Frances and Jeanne shortly after Charley. I stayed on WDW property through Frances. They did a great job taking care of their guests. We were at AKL. Never felt unsafe. Never lost power. It got a little boring after awhile, but it was only for about 48 hours.

During Hurricane Wilma it is where all of SFLA came to get away! They are really great in entertaining the kiddies

My family was at Wilderness lodge during hurricane Charlie and the parks did close early that day the storm went right over WDW and by the next day the only thing not open was the monorail going to EPCOT as they checked the track and typhoon lagoon did not open because of all the trees that were down. The last post was correct they had everything ready to go and even handed out flashlights to everyone, we never lost power and to this day we talk about being in a hurricane with 100mph winds. You may lose a few hours but all the parks will reopen as soon as everything is checked. Have Fun

We are flying in from NY on Thursday. It looks like we will miss most of it - it mostly looks like it should be completely out of Florida by then. Hoping it dies out. My cousins arrived at Pop Century today and are staying till Sept 4, they may get some rain and wind over the next few days... but I think it will be minimal and should be gone from the area by Thurs. Just hoping our connecting flight doesnt get cancelled.

I don't think it'll be a threat to the Orlando area at all. Even if it were to turn north suddenly, it would have to cross so much land to get to WDW, it will barely even be a storm.

They want the emergency contact number, because sometimes they contact people by phone or email about itinerary changes.

I realize that; I have been on several cruises.
