The NHC have started issuing Advisories on Tropical Depression 9.

It's currently a long way out in the mid Atlantic. The forcast models currently show it curving up towards Bermuda in the longer term but it is going to be worth keeping a watch on for the next few days until things become more certain.

Further updates will follow :)

Alan - thanks for this. Jon and I are keenly interesting in this sort of update at the moment (for obvious reasons ;) )

Quick update...

Tropical Depression 9 is still only a TD and has not strengthened into a tropical storm :)

Some strengthening is still possible over the next 48 hours although it is forcast to be quite slow as the depression is currently over slightly cooler waters.

The current forcast track is still for the storm to stay to the east of Florida and heading towards Bermuda.

More updates will follow.

TD 9 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Irene but is still very disorganized. The forcast track hasn't altered much and due to some shear in the area Irene is not likely to strenghten too much in the near future.

Further updates will be posted later.

Alan.
