My wife was wondering about this. How hot is the steam room/sauna? She might be inclined to do this, but not if it is too hot.

Thanks, Pacha

The steam rooms can get very hot but there is water available inside for cooling off. I didn't think that the tile sauna was too hot - the one in the men's changing room was the more traditional type and was hot but comfortable.

The tile sauna is a VERY mild sauna. I have low blood pressure (naturally, not a medical problem) of around 90/60, so that lowers my tolerance. But even with that limitation, I can sit in the mild sauna for indefinite periods and read, so you know it isn't bad. I go in there when a tile lounge chair isn't available outside.

I really like the tile sauna. Normal steam rooms take my breath away anyhow so I avoid them, but I stayed for a long while in the tile sauna.

There have been times on the Magic when the hot moist sauna was too hot to even sit down on the tiles - forget using towels and the cold water.

Many problems plagued the Rainforest prior to dry dock, but when we cruised in October, they were still there - often the Rainforest was closed due to plumbing problems and if not the whole Rainforest, then the saunas - once the large one, once the small one and once the dry sauna was cold - no heat at all.

It presented enough problems for us that we no longer use it unless we check it out first to make sure things are working, then we pay a daily rate rather than get the cheaper "by the week" rate.

Also, in MY opinion, the attitude of the staff there (non-Disney) is less than I find acceptable - and I'm a pretty easy going person.

There is a "mild" sauna and 2 steam rooms, in addition to the main room....and a couple of special showers (which never work totally right). I've always found one steam room to be too hot, the other to be very warm and steamy and wonderful....the sauna is nice, but the chairs (tile) get too warm, so I use a towel like a "superman cape" and sit and lean on it.

There is also a sauna in the women's locker room...a little warmer than in the rainforest.
