Tropical Dreams, Mermaid Food, and Wishes on Wheels Oh My! 1st PTR

Your list of movies is amazeballs! And I LOVE your idea to have the characters sign a handpainted portrait. So cool! My dad was an artist and I remember him bringing a postcard size pad of watercolor paper and this teeny tiny box of watercolors. When we had downtime at the resort he painted all these thank you cards for mousekeeping with Disney characters on them. I especially remember one he did with Aladdin & Jasmine since that was the big movie at the time. :)

OMG I am sooooo far behind!
Your mother's day sounds so lovely! Apart from the octopus :crazy2: But a restaurant of fondue? :faint: That sounds AMAZING!
Yay! You get to meet some characters! :woohoo:That is such a great idea to get them to sign artwork. You are just too talented and creative. If I tried to make artwork it would just be a ton of stick-men! :rotfl:
Oh no are you okay? Did your shoulder pop back in? You are such a trooper!
That is one heck of a movie list! Better get the popcorn on! popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

*grumble* Well, my instincts were correct. After the reservation CM had made such a fuss about putting us in an accessible room, I felt like something was off. Today I called Disney Disability services and not one note about getting an accessible room was on my reservation. Carter the terrific CM I talked with this afternoon has put in the request for a wheelchair accessible room with a bathtub.

I'm so grateful I almost cried, but I'm still smarting a little from the sting of the other fellow and how he completely lied to me and disregarded my requests, and after I gave him a good review too. Grr :headache::mad:. I'm a ticked off Rebecca for sure.

Carter rocked though :thumbsup2, and fixed it all I think. I'll call back at some point closer to trip to make doubly sure. I really do trust him though.

That's insane...that the first CM would just say they were doing something for you and just...not do it. I mean...how do you even do that??? I'm glad you got it all sorted out!!

Oh no buddy. That sucks the big one :sad1: Lets hope Carter is true to his word and actually did what he said he would! Keeping my fingers crossed ::yes::

I need to get out more apparently.
I had no idea you could have an accessible room with a bathtub.

Don't mind me... just off to hang my head in shame.

I'm a ticked off Rebecca for sure.

Oh, boy. I would not want to be that other guy right about now.

Ugh! It's a good think you called. Trust those instincts!

*happy dance!* OUR FIRST DISNEY MAIL!!!

Yay! So exciting! :cheer2:

Your movie list is awesome! I might have to steal that if we plan another trip. :thumbsup2

I cannot eat octopus because of the suction cups. It's silly, but I just can't do it
I totally understand!
The middle two fought over the tentacles once. I'm not a fan of the squid tentacles, either.
*shiver* I'm with ya on that ;)
Hope that link works...am I allowed to post a link? You could just put one or two charms on it and I think you can adjust the length.
They are so pretty! Rem, a lil' pricey for my blood, but really nice!
You have a LOT of movies lol I think it's a good goal though to watch a lot before going on a trip to WDW though!!
We have a crazy number of movies to find and view! Currently on Iron Man 3. :)
Rebecca, it sounds like you have an amazing family that wants to make your Birthday as special as possible!!!
I am blessed :lovestruc to have them Holly!
As far as meet and greets and where the characters are located, the best site I've found so far is www.kennythepirate.com. You can view a master list of all characters and parks, or break it down by each park. He's even got a great crowd calendar.
Such a flippin' cool site! Thanks for it!
Akershus is the only character dining we've done so far. It was amazing for the girls (my 2 girlies and my 2 nieces), we even got to meet Mary Poppins which surprisingly excited the then 6 year old whom I had no clue even knew who Mary Poppins was! LOL The kids food was great, but I found the adult entrees a bit too off (struggling for the right words here...) for my liking, I didn't think they were terrible, just not my taste, but that's just my personal opinion. My DH, sister, dad and step mom loved the food.
That is such a sweet moment to share with your girls and nieces! I'm a bit unsure on the food as well, but heck even just a veggie pasta dish will do me just fine. ;)
Your trip looks like it's going to be wonderful, and I'm enjoying coming along for the ride!
Thank you dear! I'm loving watching your trip prep and am so excited that you'll be a there soon!
Yikes!!! Sorry to hear about your shoulder! :sad2: But happy Disney restaurant day dreaming is a good distraction! Disney distractions are the best, aren't they?! :goodvibes
Thanks sweetie! You take good care of that knee okay?! Have an ammmmmaaazzzing trip!!!
Am I a dolt because I never even noticed them? Or just hopelessly naive?
nopers. they are not as noticeable as I feel they are.
I get it. Ruby has very small veins. She always tells them to use a butterfly cathether and sometimes they do.
Other times they say they can do it without.... try for a while... then use it.
Poor Ruby! :hug:s to her. Mine are slippery veins and when I was a kid they were worse. blegh. :crazy2: I also have a fear of needles -except for tattoos lol.
Wonderful idea. Love it.
Thanks!
Well of course you do! What's not to love? I'm very loveable... just ask... uh... just ask... hmmm....

I adore me too!!!
Good! :D
Actually, I'd be more like
Well, maybe not waving the dislocated one...
THAT was one of the BEST Emoticons I've ever seen! Can't stop laughing from the poor thing! panic_zpsyeaj3gr7.gif
Just a prolapsed disc (probably).
Have you freaking had it checked?! If not WHY?
For fun, read chapters 18 and 19 of my Euro trip TR
will do
Actually, I'd like to see it for those exact same reasons.
When I was young I saw part (all?) of it, strange movie I really liked parts of it, but not sue how it would feel with an adult's eyes.
Do you have them on a website or something? Love to see them.
I have some in a NSFW filter on FB, and soon will have my website back up.
Your list of movies is amazeballs!
Thanks so much! Amazeballs is maybe one of the greatest words ever!!! Totally calls for a dancing banana!
And I LOVE your idea to have the characters sign a handpainted portrait.
Danke!

:lovestruc such special memories of your father! Thank you for sharing them!
OMG I am sooooo far behind!
I feel the same way dear! so many things to catch up on!
a restaurant of fondue? :faint: That sounds AMAZING!
it is drool worthy ;) You don't have fondue restaurants in the U.K.?! If not you must try one while in Florida! :D
Yay! You get to meet some characters! :woohoo:That is such a great idea to get them to sign artwork.
Thanks buddy! I'm excited and hopeful about the whole thing!
If I tried to make artwork it would just be a ton of stick-men! :rotfl:
That's quite cool as that is really the basis of any figure anyway!
Oh no are you okay? Did your shoulder pop back in? You are such a trooper!
It did pop back in but bleh the silly thing hurts. Sleeping hurts lol. I need an anti-grav chamber to sleep in. ;)
That is one heck of a movie list! Better get the popcorn on! popcorn::
I LOVE popcorn! *passes you some* popcorn::
That's insane...that the first CM would just say they were doing something for you and just...not do it. I mean...how do you even do that??? I'm glad you got it all sorted out!!
*sigh* Made me feel icky and sad. *crossed fingers* all is good now.
Oh no buddy. That sucks the big one :sad1: Lets hope Carter is true to his word and actually did what he said he would! Keeping my fingers crossed ::yes::
Thank you sweetie!
I need to get out more apparently.
I had no idea you could have an accessible room with a bathtub.

Oh no my friend it does not make you doltish in the slightest. I looked at different rooms for like an hour on the Disney website before I figured out how to search for the few with bathtubs! I need it though 'cause mermaid problems lol. The water is one of my main forms of pain killer, one reason I swim so much.
Mickey mail! :hyper: That's so exciting!! We never got any Mickey mail :sad2: sad times!! It's happening! It's happening! :woohoo:

YAY for Disney mail!!!!!!!!!!! :jumping1:
:hyper:
Ugh! It's a good think you called. Trust those instincts!
Thanks lady!
Yay! So exciting! :cheer2:
I am bouncing off the walls! :jumping1:
Your movie list is awesome! I might have to steal that if we plan another trip. :thumbsup2
Oh yes my friend! Steal away, also I got most of them from wikipedia. :) We just finished Iron Man 3 and now are watching Thor: Dark World. 1st Marvel then a month or so of Disney animated, break for all the Pirates of Caribbean, more animated, then Star wars, finishing with disney animated :D
Yay for Disney Mail!!! It's great getting things unexpectedly (well, at least I wasn't sure what to expect) to keep the Disney excitement going!!!
It was such a such a shock to receive it! :woohoo:
:goodvibes :grouphug:

I also have a fear of needles -except for tattoos lol.

Kay, my youngest daughter has huge panic attacks when it comes to needles.
I remember one of her last ones, a blood draw.
She was screaming! Never heard her do that before.
And yet... She had some teeth pulled... Bunch 'o needles in the mouth? No problemo!

THAT was one of the BEST Emoticons I've ever seen! Can't stop laughing from the poor thing!

 I like that one too.

I have some in a NSFW filter on FB, and soon will have my website back up.

Lemme know when you do. Love to see 'em.

Here's hoping Carter lives up to his word! Love that you posted that shot from Splash!

I think I forgot to comment on your mom, but I'm so sorry about your loss. My dad died when I was 21. Sometimes, it feels like yesterday. He was a total cheeseball when it came to Disney (he loved the Tiki Room). So when my sister and I are there, we plan to do all those rides he loved and a few he would have if they'd had it at DL (Carousel of Progress and Spaceship Earth!).

So for my 41st birthday apparently I can meet any characters I want to (and that are available of course). Is Stitch anywhere but 'Ohana breakfast?
In addition hoping to meet Gaston, Rapunzel, Ariel, Flynn Ryder, Tiana, Anna, Elsa, Baymax, and Hiro! Not sure if it will happen but oh it would be exciting if it did! I'm thinking of making a small 3"x5" or 4"x6" painting of each and asking them to sign their "portrait" then framing them hanging them over my art table.
I'm not sure if anyone answered already, but you can also find stitch in MK! He wanders around the Tomorrowland area. He's near the top of my character to do list too! I hope you get to meet all the characters on your list. :) The painting thing is a great idea! The characters would probably love it too, so unique and special.

My BF isn't into characters at all, and I used to never care for characters the countless times I visited DLR before. However, for some reason I really want to meet a lot of characters on this WDW trip. My BF agreed to go with me but I'm still a bit worried how he's gonna feel when we have to wait in 30+ min lines for characters.

Oh! We've been watching all the Marvel movies in order -except for Hulk as we don't have it and it sucks- and we're on Iron Man 3 in the next couple of days! As soon as we finish the Marvel movies we're going to watch DISNEY movies!
Definitely go watch the new Avengers movie in theater if you get the chance! I really enjoyed it. Just make sure you watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier before you go.

*happy dance!* OUR FIRST DISNEY MAIL!!! :stitch:
YAY Disney Mail! :cheer2: I didn't even know Disney mail was a thing when I received mine, I was so surprised and excited!

I can't believe that CM lied to you. :worried: I'm glad you were able to sort it out with a different CM. Hope everything works out!

Hello, and following! So nice that you have lots of time to plan, and lots of time for us to follow along! Your family looks lovely, and I'm so glad that this will be a fabulous family trip. They will remember this forever!
Hello my friend! It is so nice to have you along for the journey! They are a pretty terrific family and I'm very grateful for them!
The Polynesian looked lovely from the Monorail in November, construction or not. This will be a very posh trip, and I'm so glad you are able to make the trip with your mother in your heart along with you.
Our last trip was one night in a Value and the rest in POFQ -which I think you said you hope to stay at!- It was a pretty resort and I liked the boats quite a bit! I was in a non accessible room so it affected my enjoyment of the trip. I like to be able to get myself around, and with the non accessible room my dear husband had to help a lot. Otherwise grounds are gorgeous and staff was very nice. :)
The Poly will be a dream come true for me! The rooms look huge, comfy, and it seems there lots of restaurants on property! Can't wait to try 'Ohana, Trader Sam's, and to try a Dole Whip Float!
My favorite show, and I hope they still have Celebrate the Magic as well. I can hear the music now...
I've never heard of Celebrate the Magic! Going to have to look that one up! :thumbsup2 I hope to see Wishes from a distance so I don't have a panic attack.
When I went solo in November, it was for my 44th birthday! I decided to make myself an official Princess, so I bought myself my own birthday present of a ring, and put it onto my finger while standing in Cinderella's castle!
That right there is wonderful! Oh what kind of ring? DO you still wear it? I like this idea very much!
I hope you have some time to enjoy these special presentations too!
I think on my last trip I started off with shimmery princess make up, but by day 3 was au naturale. I tried to think of it as letting my inner child show - but with lip gloss!
Perfect Disney is made for our inner children. :goodvibes ! I wear a tiny bit of makeup at Disney and always balm or gloss too!
Oooh - it might have been just a computer glitch. I'm hoping that the CM's really wouldn't overtly lie about something like this, it's just bad karma!
I hope not as well, and as he was a nice fellow I'm just going to assume it was just a paying attention issue. When I was younger and did not have this much pain I would have been okay in a normal room, but now my bones, tendons, and joints just need the extra help from the bars and also room for my wheels.
Getting back to introductions:
Favorite park: Magic Kingdom
Favorite rides: Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, and Soarin'
Favorite Princesses: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle (in her pink winter dress!)
:hyper: FANTABULOUS choices!!! Oh my gosh even just thinking about Disney puts a ridiculous grin on my face!!! OOOh what is Peter Pan like? Oh I just adore Soarin'!!!

Here's hoping Carter lives up to his word! Love that you posted that shot from Splash!
I do hope so, he was such a nice person!
I think I forgot to comment on your mom, but I'm so sorry about your loss. My dad died when I was 21. Sometimes, it feels like yesterday.
Thank you dear  in two days she will have been gone 2 years. That part makes my tummy do flips.
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
He was a total cheeseball when it came to Disney (he loved the Tiki Room). So when my sister and I are there, we plan to do all those rides he loved and a few he would have if they'd had it at DL (Carousel of Progress and Spaceship Earth!).
Such fun that he loved Disney! It's great that you and your sister honor his memory that way! :D
