About time for a pretrip report with only a week to go.

Cast: Me (30) :hmghost: and DH (40, turning 41 while we’re there) :stitch:

Dates:
Pretrip visit to parents-in-law near ports – 27/28 September :grouphug:
DLRP - 29 September – 4 October :goofy: :mickeyjum :donald:
Booze cruise shopping – 4/5 October :car:

Accomodation:
Hotel New York :mickeybar

Transport:
Car and Channel Tunnel (if it’s running – eeek) :drive:

Current plan:
We’ve been planning this trip since we got back from WDW in May, needing a Disney fix before our AP’s run out in late October and seeing as we’d take DH’s birthday off work anyway, we thought why not drive down for the week. We can see DH’s parents as they live near the ports and then get an early trip over Monday morning.

We’re supposed to be going on the chunnel – assuming its working ok by next week. But whatever we’ll be on the Autoroute and bombing (within the speed limit of course) to Paris to get there by early afternoon.
We’ll have Monday pm and all of Tuesday in the parks, then on Wednesday we’re planning on heading to Versailles for the day. Thursday and Friday will be back in the parks and then Saturday will be a take it as it comes day. Might go in for a few hrs before driving back to Calais, the scenic route i.e. via many supermarkets to stock up on food and drink goodies, then Sunday will be a chunnel back to blightly and the long, slow, bottle-clinking drive back up the M1.

I’m planning on doing the DLP tour on this trip (will save the WDS tour for next trip). Will call up and book that next week at the 10 days before the tour limit for doing so.

Meal bookings:

Monday – Buffalo Bills :drinking1 (late seating – in case there are any probs with getting to Paris)
Tuesday – Early lunch at Blue Lagoon pirate:
Wednesday – Dinner at Inventions :wizard:
Thursday – Free and easy – We’ll see what we feel like and where we can get in.
Friday – Birthday Tea Party :cake: (At Pizza Planet – the tea party moves as of 1 October apparently) and California Grill princess: for a late dinner. (It is DH birthday after-all). :bday:

Sounds good!! Have a wonderful time!! :thumbsup2

Will report back on it all but especially that, as it seems i'll be one of the first DISers to try the new venue (although i did go to a character tea at Pizza Planet years ago it wasn't a birthday type).

Sounds good. Be interesting to see how the Tea Party is in Pizza Plannet now!

Well an update.

I tried to book the DLP tour today. According to the lady at VIP relations there is only 1 English language tour next week and that's on the day we are going to Versailles, sigh. I honestly thought they would be every other day at least by alternating French/English every day.

She did suggest that we check again when we arrive as if there is more interest then they may put on additional tours. or we could book the private 4 hr tour for 400 euros :lmao:

So a heads up, if you want to do a tour - they may not run every day, or even every other day.

Oh, what a shame.

My understanding on how it works is that there are two tours a day with the first person to make a booking having first choice of time-slot and language, and the language of the remaining tour determined by whatever is requested next.

We did both tours in August but I booked about a month before we went and we were obviously the first for both parks as we were given the choice of time-slots. There was a Dutch couple on our Disneyland tour ~ the other tour that day was either German or Spanish, in fact some days when I looked at the board whilst going past City Hall both tours were in Spanish so the tours must be very popular with Spanish fans. In fact the lovely CM who took our Studios tour apologised for her English as she said she didn't do many tours in it.

Keep trying just in case they do put on an additional tour ~ you may be lucky. :wizard:

We all really enjoyed them, even though we know 99.99% of the info from here it's just nice to hear it whilst looking at it, so if you're unlucky this time it'll give you a good excuse to go back! ;)

it'll give you a good excuse to go back! ;)

Don't need one of those, already been calculating what time i need off work to go for my birthday, seeing as DH is going for his brithday this yr i think its only fair i get to be there on my b'day :rolleyes1
:goodvibes

A final update before we leave tomorrow morning

Called the HNY today to order some champagne and balloons to be put in the room. The concierge was v helpful and has sorted it for me (at least i hope he has - i'll know for certain on Monday.

Procedure for ordering stuff to be put into the room is as follows:

Call the Disney hotel you're staying in. Ask for concierge.
Ask the concierge if you can order some gifts to go in the room. They will take the order and tell you how much it is. They ask for a fax no..

They fax you a form to fill in. On the covering note it confirms your order and how much it is. You fill in the form and include photocopies of your credit card and ID (i used driving licence as my passport was with travel documents at home).

You fax the completed form back as authorisation for them to charge your credit card.

They shoudl then place the order and the items will be in your room. The concierge had said he'd call back to confirm but i had to leave work before he'd called so fingers crossed all is ok.

Really looking forward to it now. :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2:

You sound really organised - a great birthday trip :goodvibes .

Tea party at Pizza Planet from beginning of October hmmm? I wonder if I can fit it in?

Sounds great! Have a wonderful time...

Good to know about ordering stuff for the room, shame I dont have a fax...:(

The fax thing did seem a bit weird. I offered to authorise over the phone but he said they couldn't do that for amenities (i.e. non-room bookings). He also said they couldn't email the form.

Guess they could send it by post if you rang up a good few weeks ahead.

Yeah it is a shame they cant email it... would be very easy that way. Oh well never mind
