What do you use to carry your tripod? My old tripod (Walmart bluelight special) has it's own little nylon tie string bag and I think the strap is about to break off. I decided today on a new tripod setup for my birthday (Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 & 498RC2 head) but need a bag. It will be about 25 inches when fully assembled I think.

Has anyone seen this bag before? It looks kind of cool, especially since it will adjust to whatever size tripod you have. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/bazooka-tripod-case.aspx

That looks great!

My new tripod came with a zip-up bag, but once I added the new ball head, it doesn't fit unless I take the ball head back off and squeeze it in next to the legs. Not ideal, so I might be in the market for a new bag soon too. I'd be curious to see what anyone else might suggest. I like my lightweight bag, and wouldn't mind something similar, but slightly longer.

Or I might go back to using my daughter's pink princess folding lawn chair bag. Fancy tripod bags look enticing to crooks...... probably not the lawn chair bag.....

I haven't tested my idea yet, but I was thinking of using the bag that our Totesport Sun Guard Umbrella came in.

We got the umbrella from Walgreens and it has a wonderful should strap that seems like it would be perfect.

I don't use a carry bag - I actually have been pretty happy going with the tripod strap route. My camera bag has an external tripod holder for when I'm travelling and transporting...then for when I'm walking around, I've got an Op-Tech camera strap that attaches to the tripod allowing it to be slung over a shoulder or carried by the strap. It's an option to consider - there are several manufacturers making tripod straps.

Manfrotto makes a tripod bag. I think it's even cheaper than the one you posted a link for. I have a similar setup..... the manfrotto 055xprob with a ball head. It's also 20-some inches.

I've used a fold-out chair bag the few times I've been out, but I don't care for it too much. There's actually too much room (so the tripod hangs quite a few inches away from the top of your body; plus the bag strings get hooked on the ball head sometimes). I think I might look into zackiedawg's idea about a tripod strap though. I could see that being very convenient.

My tripod came with a bag that was much too heavy and not foldable. I bought a stuff sack from REI that fit the tripod and was light enough it could be stuffed into a pocket when the tripod was in use. Even so, I usually prefer no bag at all and just use a strap (also from REI).

a quick search on ebay for tripod bag or tripod case, turned up hundreds of options

My son is my favorite but when he is not around, nothing!

I hadn't even really thought of not using a bag and only using a strap. And yes, the fancy bags would look more noticeable. Once I get the setup I might try some chair bags I already have... good idea!

I was also wondering if the one I posted might be too bulky for carrying a lot. It is different than most of the ones I saw on B&H in that it's adjustable. There were so many on B&H that most only had a handful of reviews.

Mickey88~ Yes, a quick search of ebay, B&H, etc will turn up hundreds of options. Part of the reason that I posted. :) I'm looking for what people on here found as their best option since I'm not used to carrying a tripod very much now since I hate dealing with the cheap one I have.

I made my own out of the original strap that was on my camera bag (which I replaced with an Op/Tech SOS Strap.) Here's some shots to show what it looks like:

I usually wear it on my back, though occasionally I'll just wear it over one shoulder. Here's what it looks like from behind.

It does tend to move around a little, and I have to be careful in tight corridors (like getting on a Disney bus) as it wants to fall somewhat sideways, but it's not too bad.

I looked at bags (too much of a pain to use - tripods are enough of a bother already!) and the Op/Tech tripod strap (fancier but looks like it'd suffer from some of the same issues as mine plus add some others) and I am happy enough with my current solution that I have not looked for any alternatives since putting it together.

Thanks for posting those pics!!!!! I wonder is my old Canon neck strap will handle the weight of my tripod. Hmmmmm..........

Portable folding chairs that sell for about $10 at discount stores (Walmart) come in long & thin bags that could hold a tripod. The bags sometimes have a shoulder strap and/or a handle strap.
