Triple D's: New Year to Reach New Goals

Great news everyone. Big Vic has decided to come back to the team!!!! We just keep getting stronger and stronger, better and better!!

Bryan:cheer2: :cool1: :thumbsup2

So, I am gathering that we are not reporting mileage and time yet? I am keeping track of it, will everything in January count? Not that it is that high due to the weather! (But I did ride to work today)

Erica, here are some sites to look at for local races, I so far have stuck to the 5K and the duathlons

Thanks for those links! Some of those duathalons look really interesting. I'd love to do a tri at some point, but need to do soem serious swimming practice first. Maybe we'll see each other at an event one of these days -- I'll be the one in the bright green W.I.S.H. shirt. ;) BTW, I am seriously impressed that you rode to work -- it is freaking cold out there!

Big Vic, welcome back.

And to paraphrase a great man . . . I'm glad to be back as well. I am feeling stronger and more motivated than I have in quite a while, and am sure with the help of WISH and the triple Ds, i can keep it up! As SamSam said, nothing likie having to be accountable to get you out there when you least want to go.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Triple D's:

We are getting very close to starting a new year. Dave and Susie have drawn up a draft of the teams and are getting ready to start adding the "newbies" to the teams where they may fit the best or needs extra people to fill up. I am already getting very excited about the upcoming year. I know that they are looking at a few changes for this year as far as format and that's ok. We want to keep things fresh. I am just really thankful and grateful that our team is one of the one's that are sticking together.

You guys and girls ROCK!!!

Bryan:cheer2: :grouphug: :thumbsup2

Bryan, thanks for keeping us up on how things are going.
:cheer2: I'm really excited for our team to start up again! :cheer2:

Oooh, I am defintiely psyched! Now to keep the post-marathon momentum going all year.

I've been keeping track of January, too, but it looks like we're going to start as of february 1st. Is that right? And if so, can I go on record as saying that having the first 2 days coorespond with the day of and the day after the Super Bowl is not ideal for me? :crazy2: Guess I'll have to get in a run early on Sunday and plan on Monday as a "rest" day...

Are the rules for miles/minutes the same as last year?

Hey guys!

Well, I'm finally in a place where I can start thinking about returning to training and planning a race schedule (if you missed it on the weekly thread, I had a miscarriage about 10 days ago so I needed to relook at all my plans and commitments - again). Thanks again to everyone who wished me well - our whole family is in a good place, feeling very blessed and surrounded by love.

I am hoping to get back to exercising this week. My plan is to start with a 30-40 minute walk on Thursday and during the weekend and ease in. If that seems to be going well I'll try to ramp it up a bit more next week. One big goal I have for this year is to add in much more consistent cross-training - in particular some core work (probably pilates or yoga which I enjoy a lot), and some non-running cardio (probably biking).

I am debating whether my first big race this year will be the Broad Street Run (10miler) here in Philadelphia, or the Country Music Half in Nashville. I am leading towards Broad St., since I'm not sure I can afford the travel expenses. We'll see. I'm thinking of taking on the challenge of the Beach to Bell in September, which would be the Virginia Beach Half on Sept. 6, followed 2 weeks later by the Phila. Distance Run Half! That sounds like fun to me - not quite a Goofy, but a really good challenge.

And I did decide that I want to do the Disney Full next January! Yay :cool1: ! I'm excited and nervous. I know I can be ready, but the full distance really intimidates me.

So I should be back on track for contributing miles & minutes by Feb. 1. I'm looking forward to continuing playing with this great team!

Kira I am so sorry about the miscarriage. If you had posted that somewhere else before hand, I missed it and I apologize. I am glad to hear that you are doing better and it sounds like you have a wonderful support group at home so that makes it somewhat easier, I guess. But I did want to offer my sympathies.

Update As far as the miles and hours go, I am not sure if it is going to be identical to the way it was last year. I have been reading a lot of different ideas about how to approach that this year. I know Dave and Susie are trying to take everything into account and will come up with the best solutions possible to make it fair and fun. It also looks like some of the teams from last year are breaking up so we very well could be getting some teammates from Herc's Heroes and Jessica's Rabbits. No matter what happens though, this is going to be a fun and exciting year. Kira said it best. We DO have a wonderful team!! Let's get ready to have a great year.

Note: I will start up a new thread on Saturday, January 31 so we can start February off with introductions for all of us and our new teammates. Plus, I will put in there any kind of rule/posting changes that may occur for the new season.

Less than 1 week away and I am ready to fly!!!

I'm really looking forward to a new year with Triple D's! I don't do many races but this team really helps me keep on track with daily workouts, etc.
I am going to do the Expedition Everest (sounds so fun) and the January 2010 1/2 marathon, that's all I have planned at the moment.

Triple D's Rock!!!!:cheer2:

Kira, just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your loss. You sound like you are doing well, but I know it isn't easy.:grouphug:

Kira, honey...so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
You just take it easy, do what you feel you are up to!
Many hugs!!!

Hey guys I'm sending the famous HockeyChic over to play with you guys. She is training for the 2010 Goofy. She is one of our pretty Canadian princesses.

Please welcome her to the Ds.

Recruiter Panda:goodvibes

:welcome: to the Triple Ds, HockeyChic/Kim! I'm signed up for the Goofy as well, so I'm sure at some point during the 39.3 miles, I'll be staring at the back of your shirt fading into the distance as I limp along. :thumbsup2

Kira, sorry to hear of your miscarriage. It sounds like you are doing well, and best wishes on your training.

I was sent to work in Switzerland for a few weeks so I am not doing as much biking as I would at home. I am doing a good bit of walking though. Looking forward to the start of a new year of tallying the miles.

:welcome: Welcome to the Triple D's HockeyChic, glad to have you on our team.

Hey team. Thank you for the welcome.

I started out on a team last year but just didn't follow through with any trainging. I was a total slug. This year however, I have signed up for the Goofy and have some weight to lose well before I start "official" training. So this time I am committed and ready to help my teammates.

Can someone fill me in on what we keep track of and is it certain days etc??

Thanks

Kim

Oh, you poor baby . . . missing out on the joy of what was the sloppiest, ugliest day in a while out here on Long island to spend time in Europe. I feel for you, dude, really. At least I do now that cablevision and LIPA finally restored my ability to use the Internet...:badpc:

P.S. Bring back chocolate! Please?????
