trip to the vets - Updated Today ......post 25

I bet you feel exhausted  hope the tests come back OK and :wizard: for Sam for his op. Hopefully you will be too busy with your birthday celebrations to worry too much about it.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, totally trying to put this out of our heads for this week, you get so attached to your pets, they become such an important part of your family and Sam really is like my youngest....he was definetely a baby substitute :rotfl::rotfl:

Glad to hear the prognosis is very good for Sam:thumbsup2

Well Sam had his op yesterday.

He went in at 8.30am and the vets phoned at 2.30pm to say we could pick him up at 3pm and all had went well. Vet said they had to cut through alot of muscle to get to the one on his back but the one behind his elbow had came out in one piece, and she was happy that having tied off a few blood vessels she wouldn't need to put in any drains. He's got around 10 stitches in each. Told us all about the aftercare that was needed and gave us an appt for Thursday to get him rechecked.

We got him home by 3.20pm and the poor dog wouldn't sit down, he was sick four times and his eyes were rolling in his head, he was crying and groaning as though he were in alot of pain, so after DH spoke with the vet he had to go through the stress of going back to the vets at 5pm :headache:

They gave him a morphine injection, he cried out in pain something he never does when he's getting a jab:hug:

We managed to get him back home in the car ok. We basically had to just sit beside him when he got home as he would sit but not lie down but then the morphine took effect and he just conked out for an hour and a half.:scared1: He did cry and groan a good bit throughout the evening but I got him into his nice clean soft bed around 1030pm and that was him till 6am this morning. He's obviously taking it easy this morning, had a light breakfast which has stayed down which is good.

Will just need lots of TLC til he's better now :grouphug:

Glad the op went well for Sam. Our dog always used to cry the 1st evening after having operations, its partly due to them being doped up. I remember when one of ours came home after have one of her hips removed, I let her out in the garden & she fell asleep on the grass:rotfl:

Awwww, poor Sam, I hope he has another good night tonight as continues to improve tomorrow.
