Been back from a week and already planning our 2017 trip.

Our last few trips have been in early January and we're looking to switch it up to September or October. We can do any week during those months. During those months I've only ever been there Labor Day weekend, so still the crazy summer crowds.

From a weather perspective, I'm guessing October is better generally (less wet/not as humid?)

I know all times are considered more crowded now, but between September or October, what would you pick from a weather and crowd perspective?

September will be less busy but a lot more humid than say end of October. With most schools starting back in August now, Labor Day isn't as busy as you'd expect.

We went Sept 12-19 and weather wasn't awful. We had one day of ponchos on for several hours, other than that there was short shower late afternoon or nothing at all. I didn't find the hear or humidity to be terrible. And the crowds were extremely pleasant, a ton of walk on times.

We went the first two weeks of Sept in 2014 and the heat was horrible - as in the heat index over 100 several days. I did better than I expected to do in it, but not everyone in my family did. We live in SC/GA so it's not like we aren't used to heat in humidity. We aren't used to hanging out all day in it though. The crowds were nice and light. We had 8 days in the 4 Disney theme parks that trip and the rain was only an issue one day - when it poured all day. We did the water parks two days and had to leave one day due to the thunder storms.

We've never been in Oct but it looks like we'll be going the first week of Oct in 2016 and the end of Sept. This is due to an organized group though so we didn't get a say. Two people in my family said never again to the start of Sept after our last trip, so I really hope Oct is noticeably better. I know crowds will be heavier than early Sept. But dealing with moderate crowds is easier for many than dealing with 100+ degree heat indexes.

We've gone twice in late Sept/Early Oct and the weather has been HOT and HUMID both trips. Almost unbearably so at times. Only rained one evening on both trips. The crowds weren't as "low" as we expected but definitely manageable. The fall decor is festive and the Halloween Party is a neat experience.

Oct. features Food & Wine Fest with a full concert series, highly recommended but be sure to avoid Columbus Day and the weekend prior to it, noticeably more crowded then. As mentioned you'll probably experience some heat.
