Well I know you don’t know much about me as I haven’t posted often, but I wondered if a trip summary from a newbie might still be interesting?! It was our 1st time to Disney as as a family, DH and I having done the US ages ago, before kids. This time we took our 6 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son, for 2 nights at Castle Club and 4 nights at Davy Crockett. What a heavenly time!!!

Highlights of Castle Club – having a balcony overlooking the entrance portico, gardens and Mickey clock! And that was a standard room – we were amazed! The VIP fastpasses – we felt like royalty! (n.b. they only work between 11am and 2 hrs before park closing), the lift straight to the park entrance (literally less than a minute from our room to the gates), the free tea/soft drinks all day, the free cakes & brownies at teatime, gorgeous quiet breakfast with characters.

Davy Crockett – pool was OK, could have been warmer. Unfortunately loads of ants in bathroom and kitchen (cleared away on 3rd time of asking, and pressies left for kids to say sorry). Nice to have 2 bedrooms so kids could go to sleep a bit earlier and we could talk over a bottle of wine, not poss when all sharing together! Had to hire a car to stay here, but still cheaper than paying for 2 bedrooms in an on-site hotel.

Highlights of DLP – that we did EVERY single ride, show and attraction at least once. We were so thrilled when we managed to fit Autopia in the last half hour before having to leave for the train, as that was the final thing on the park map not yet ‘ticked’! All time fave was Big Thunder Mountain, closely followed by Buzz, Orbitron, & Dumbo. Most overrated IMHO was Indiana Jones. Best meal was Auberge de Cendrillon, where we met Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty & Prince, Snow White and Belle. Loved the Salon Mickey hot choc and croissant mid-morning.

Highlights of WDS – Crush, Cars, Animagique, Stunt Show, in fact loads more than we thought. DH adored Tower of Terror, I loved Rock’n’ Roller. We did every ride and show apart from Stich Live. Best moment was Cruella deVil taking DD’s toy puppy out into middle of parade for a few mins before returning it safely!

We ate at Annette’s (wonderful), Auberge (heavenly), Buffalo Bills (OK), Crocketts Tavern (OK). Fuente del Oro Tex Mex was v.g., Bella Notte disappointing.

We travelled by Eurostar, changing to TGV at Lille, as times were child-friendlier than the direct service. Clean, punctual, all 4 seated together round a table on all sections of journey. Buffet car on TGV sold crème brulee and individual glasses of wine for lunch!

If you get enough time for a day out in Paris, the Cite de Science & Industrie at Parc de Villette is brill for kids – they have a whole section of hands on experiments.

I don’t know if its poor etiquette here to talk about prices but thought it might help anyone wondering about a similar trip – we paid £950 for the 2 nights at CC, £550 for the 4 nights at DC, £250 for the train tickets and £95 for the hire car for 4 days. Then there were meals and Buffalo Bill… oh dear I’ll stop adding it up there! But at least we bought all our Mickey fleeces on ebay before we went!!

Thank you all so much for the advice and tips I got off this board over the last few months. Without you, we wouldn’t have known about Castle Club, owning shares, Salon Mickey, VIP fastpass… etc etc, and it would still have been a good hol, but not nearly as FAB as it was!!

sounds like you had a wonderful time thanks for sharing it with us!

It's not bad etiquette at all to talk about money. We love to hear of people getting a good deal.:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing - it sounds like you had a fantastic time.
Shame about the ants - that's early in the year for them.:sad2:

Thanks for sharing with us, Angie. It was lovely to hear about your trip and even better to hear that you had a great time!! :thumbsup2

Will you be making any plans to go back soon? ;) :wizard:

Angie lovely to get a first timers report on DLP.

Sounds like you had a great time and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see photos :)

Great to read - sounds like you might be going back some time?!

I'll happily put some pics in, could someone explain how?! I tried pressing the "insert image" button but nothing happens? Found how to do smileys at last though!

On the subject of money do you get a good discount on CC rooms being a shareholder?

Fab trip report! Thanks a lot!!! :cool1:

Glad you had a great time! :lovestruc

On the subject of money do you get a good discount on CC rooms being a shareholder?

Hi Lesley - being a shareholder saved us £100 on Castle Club, bringing it from £1064 to £964. That's an odd percentage so not sure how they figured that. I just said yes please! ;) Davy Crockett came down 20%, from £670 to £536. One CM on the booking line was really helpful with prices and suggested bringing the whole holiday forward by a day, which moved us into a different price season. It seemed to me that if when you first got through, the CM didn't seem that helpful or their English wasn't great, it was better to ask a simple question and hang up, and try ringing again to ask the complicated questions!!

Thanks for that. Deffinately worth considering becoming a shareholder then!

It is very easy to upload pictures here. I would suggest this site:

This site is free and you don't even need to register or anything.

I would suggest to click on "resize image" and choosing "for message boards" before clicking on "host it!"
And afterwards you copy the link from "Hotlink for forums" and post this link here in your reply. Then the picture will automatically be posted here for everyone to see.

I would love to see some pictures from your trip. :surfweb:

Sounds like you had a great trip :) Maybe you are spoiled now and the next trip you will have to stay at the Castle Club the whole time!

just having a go at Marcus' helpful advice on uploading pics. If this doesn't work I'll try Cyrano's suggestions, thanks to you both for the info!
Hopefully this is a snap of us on our balcony, overlooking the main entrance.

Oooh, so excited this seems to be working!
Here's DS on our balcony, overlooking the gardens at the front of DLH

The kids settling into life in castle club!

Map of the rooms in CC. Ours is picked out in yellow. Was expecting a standard room on the side!

We spotted Tigger near the main restaurant

This was during lunch at the Auberge de Cendrillon

I'll do some more tomorrow now I've got the hang of this. Does take a while though - is there a way of uploading a whole bunch at once instead of one at a time?!

Thats absolutely fantastic. Hope I'll be brave enough to have a go when I've been

Great photos :) I had a view over the park from my room, but your view is really nice too.

Thank you for your great pictures. And especially thank you for the plan of the CC. It seams as if there are really only a few rooms in the CC that have a "real" park view.

But what do you mean with: "Was expecting a standard room on the side!"

Did you book a standard room and then you have been upgraded to CC? :confused3
