Monday May 6th - Islands of Adventures

The adventures begin with a walk to the food court to grab some drinks and a cinnamon roll. With about a 15 minute drive, we arrive at IOA at 8:40. We wait about 5 minutes and they open the gates. It is off to the Hulk and Doctor Doom. We decide to take our time because it does not look as if it is going to be too busy again today. I have to say that IOA is very well themed.
We really enjoy this park. Again there are alot of characters out in all of the areas. We are trying to see too much that we eat mostly fast food counter service. No complaints. Once again, it was walk on every ride. I don't think there was a wait of more than 10 minutes except for Dueling Dragons was maybe 15-20 minutes. It was great. We have always planned Sundays and Mondays for our visits to US and IOA. These days work out to be the best. I don't want to leave but we only bought a 2 day pass to the parks. As I said in the previous post, we will stay at one of the hotels at US - IOA on our next visit. We take our time to spend shopping at Citywalk. Our DD loves the music at Citywalk while walking around. I cannot count how many rolls of film we have used already. And the camcorder hasn't quit running.

Well, now it is the next 6 days at the World. I will really try to get the rest of the reports up as fast as I can. DD is in the final days of school and it has been hectic. Enjoy!

Sounds like a nice trip so far - can't wait to read the rest - thanks for posting!

I have enjoyed your reports. I would really be interested in the comparison of WDW to Universal. We are considering changing our plans next Feb.

A great start for your trip. I look forward to the rest of the reports. Thanks for posting.

Hi suevee - I cannot really compare WDW to Universal. Universal would probably be like MGM Studios. Both are movie orientated.
Universal has alot of themed rides to movies I grew up with. ex: King Kong, Earthquake, and ET. Plus have alot of newer movie themed things. MIB, Back to the Future and Terminator 3D. I cannot complain about any of the rides.

IOA is a very well themed park. I think this park was very well thought out. ex: Jurassic Park - it gives you a feeling of Jurassic Park. You hear dinosaurs walking by in the bushes. Sometimes so real. IOA has more rollercoaster rides if you like them.

As I said, both parks when were there had a lot more characters out. If you have little ones. Both parks have really good food, no complaints. I guess everytime we go to WDW, we go to US and IOA. You really only need one day for each park. We actually were out of both of the parks early. Citywalk is really nice. For convenience I stated that we would probably stay at one of their hoptels on our next visit. We have never stayed there before and I have heard good things. Kind of like staying at one of the Disney hotels - just to take a break and go back to the parks later. It is kind of hard - our family really likes both Universal and IOA, some don't.

Look at the Universal threads on this board. They give alot of good info. I hope this helps. And please let me know if you have any questions.

P.S. You can get discounts on tickets to both of the parks.

I find the food at Universal (like the quick fixes ie. fries/nuggets/turkey drumsticks/burgers) to be a lot WORSE than WDW food quick fixes.

The fries at almost every joint in Universal seemed to sit under the heat lamp for days...

WDW fast food isn't superb but I think it is loads more appetizing!

Can you comment on this? Just lookin' for a second opinion on the cookin'! ;)

We loved IOA in September last year. I could only spend one day there, but it's a very fun one day. Thanks for the reports, I am enjoying them.

I really can't complain about the food at either US or IOA. Our first day at US, we tried to stay away from burgers and fries. You can only eat so many. I usually try to find a different sandwich or a salad. My husband really likes the turkey legs. Not for me! We did get a nice hamburger and fries at IOA in Jurrasic Park. They also had a fixing bar. I was impressed. I know what you mean, but I did think the food was pretty good in all of the parks this time. Hope this helps.
