Trip Report ... Treacherous Highway, Sick Dog, and Injuries

Great trip report! Sorry about your knee. Hope it's feeling better soon!

Awesome TR, sorry you injured your knee, but think of the learning experience and the other side of Disney you got to see. You made lemonade out of the lemons and kept moving!

While at WDW several years ago our daughter had started to spike a temp while we were in Epcot. My wife had gone to see the sites with her parents while I was with the two youngest. She did not have a cell phone with her, and by the time she returned to our room around 11:00pm, our daughter's temp was at 104 and her mouth was full of fever blisters. The folks at All Star Movies had us in a courtesy van a few minutes later on our way to an urgent care facility just before midnight on a Saturday. Let me tell you, there are an interesting assortment of people in the urgent care center on a Saturday night, but EVERYONE loves kids and all were kind to our daughter. Fortunately, they were able to administer a stronger antibiotic (the fever came because the first attempt to clear an ear infection with antibiotics resulted in a resistant strain that came on strong) and we were back in the parks two days later.

What a nice photo !

It is very nice to meet you and your husband.
Love all the pics, I am also like you in that I don't take a lotta pics.
Sorry that you had some problems while there.
And we also have a furbie that has pancreatitis,,we almost lost him.
Well it sounds like you had some fun.

Hey, if I tell you my complaints,, could you pass them on for me, :rotfl2:

After stopping for breakfast and a few more hours on the road, we arrived at our first destination – Bay Lakes RV Resort in Polk City, FL. We’re in the market for an RV lot in Florida and had been reading about this place for awhile. As with every other resort we’ve visited there were pros and cons, but I must say they have an unbelievable clubhouse!

Saturday, November 14 - Kassie was beginning to show symptoms of pancreatitis. About 1am Sunday morning it became apparent that she was really sick. We took turns sitting up with her all night. I got online to locate an emergency veterinary clinic.

Sunday, November 15 – We took Kassie to Veterinary Emergency Care in Lakeland. Dr. Mattson was great. $400 poorer and armed with medication, prescription food, and Kassie who had been pumped up with IV fluids, we were finally on our way to WDW. We arrived about 10am and requested a site in the 700 loop.

While I love Disney pictures - I too am there all the time & have pretty much quit taking pictures. However, I can't pass up commenting on these statements.

Bay Lake is a beautiful RV development. It is owned by the same company that owns my development, Mount Olive Shores North. Before you make any decision to purchase - double check if the development is in Polk City limits or Auburndale city limits, or just Polk County. If it's in P.C. limits I will warn you that the property taxes are out of sight, as is the water & sewer. Do you know the name of the salesman you dealt with? Was it Lou or Ed perhaps? Lemme know & I'll give you some very important insight on these guys. I've known both for over 6 years.

Also - Dr. Mattson is the BEST! The only problem is he is only open at night and on the weekends. If you need a vet while you're in the area (Polk City), I use Outback Animal Clinic on SR 33. You take 559 past Fantasy of Flight towards SR33. Turn right at SR33, go about 1 block & it'll be there on the right. I usually see Dr. Regina Proutis. She's a very good vet & one I trust implicitly.

While at WDW, I once used Sand Lake Animal Hospital - although fortunately, I've not had to go there in about 5 years. I was please with their service when my little kitty, also named Cassie, had a problem. They were quick to diagnose, to treat, to explain how I should treat, and IMHO, were fairly priced.

If you would like any questions answered about the Polk City area, just PM me. We've live here almost 8 years now, and while it's a clutsy, somewhat country-fied area, we really love it. The best part? It's only 30 minutes from WDW! (Which is the main reason we moved here).

You may also wish to check out our development. There are some pads up for re-sale which you could probably get a good deal on - and are either FSBO's or listed by other realtors. We have two club-houses, a 24 hour guarded gate, and a lot of other amentities.

Debbie, thanks for the great info. We visited MOSN a couple of years ago and weren't that impressed, but at that time we were looking for a port home. Now we've decided just to get a lot. At the fort we stayed across the street from Camelot822, who owns two lots at MOSN. She told us about all the changes that have occurred at MOSN since we visited and the differences in the restrictions between the two areas. We've decided we need to visit MOSN again before we make a decision. I don't remember the name of the salesman ... DH has his card. Will let you know.

Thanks for the trip report.

Jeannie and Charlie are the lady's on site 733. We always stay in the 700 loop too. This year we had site 731.

If you would like Hilda's (camelott82297) E-mail address PM me

Jeff, thanks for the info. Hilda gave me her EM address. She says you're going to show her how to post on the boards soon.

Hope your knee is better. I too have done disney in a wheelchair. Some people are awesome, but others are horrid. I also am glad to be able to do it on my own 2 feet.

Glad that overall, you trip was great!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes for my knee. It's a lot better, enough that I'm sure I don't have more torn cartilage. That was my biggest fear.

Glad everything worked out! Great report:thumbsup2

Update ... I finally went to my doctor today about my non-surgical knee because it's not getting better. Bruising has healed, but it's still very painful to the touch. I either have a chipped femur or a bruise on the bone. Will find out Wednesday after the radiologist reads my x-rays and my doctor gets back into the office. Either way, it's gonna take another 4 weeks or so to heal.

:eek:Im so sorry to hear this I hope your up and around soon!
