TRIP REPORT- The "you should've made her wish for something else" Wish Trip

My goal tonight is to take pictures of the girls with the new suitcases and "stuff". I noticed the activity books are already "worn". Oh well, I suppose I should have expected that!

Since some of you all introduced me to Etsy, I was going to post that I ordered some custom Minnie dresses for the girls. I love that she embrodiers the names on! http://www.etsy.com/transaction/47738368 Hopefully they should be here by next week.

I need to get our t-shirts ordered. I think I'm going to buy these customized transfers and make us each t-shirts http://www.etsy.com/listing/69495584/custom-personalized-pirate-mickey-mouse (Pirate for dad), and get the girls some Thing 1 and Thing 2 tranfers as well http://www.etsy.com/listing/73058355/thing-1-thing-2-iron-onheat-transfer-can?ref=pr_shop. I'm ordering the shirts from Jiffy shirts.com. Hey, if we get free Photopass CD we should look nice for the pictures, right? ;)

Love your dresses too. We must think alike :thumbsup2
Wow I was looking at your ticker thinking wow that is so close then it hit me we will already be there :lmao:

Gabriella had her Make a Wish "Going Away Party" last night. It was held at our local "fun center"...bowling, arcade, and mini golf were all on the agenda, as was pizza and an ice cream cake. We hadn't told the girls about the party at all. They wanted to go to the park that night, since it was actually a sunny, not-too-windy day here, the first in about 3 years it feels like. It worked out that they wanted to get "beautified" before going to the park so before we left they took time to put on nice dresses and fix their hair.
004.JPG

We walked in still not telling them about the party. Aleah figured it out when she saw our Wish granters come in their Make a Wish t-shirts....she squeeled and ran up and gave each of them a hug! It took Gabriella a little longer to connect everything. While waiting for the last guests to arrive, the girls had a ton of fun playing at the arcade. We had trouble getting them to come back to the suite to eat supper until I told Gabriella that she could probably open up her backpack. When we had set our stuff down in our party room the girls had noticed two backpacks sitting there.
005.JPG

Gabriella goes "You mean those backpacks are for us?!?" Yes, she's a little slow sometimes. Maybe it's all the drugs she's had?
006.JPG

So before we ate both girls grabbed their backpacks and tore into them.
010.JPG

017.JPG

The place they chose to open them made it hard to get good pictures....but each girl got a blanket that matched their backpack as well as color wonders, disposible cameras and some sunscreen, notebooks, etc. Gabriella also got some flip-flops and sunglasses and THE Make-a-Wish Barbie. (She's already been safety hidden til such a time comes that Gabriella can play with a Barbie without maiming it.)

Both girls ate a piece of pizza (there were also a huge platter of nachos!) and then Gabriella was all about trying on her backpack and looking through all her stuff.
022.JPG

Supper was topped off with a Coldstone Ice Cream Cake, Princess of course (and was SO good.)
027.JPG

After supper we started a game of bowling, in a lovely private lane we had. However, the girls lasted through one frame before deciding they wanted to play more games. The rest of the adults finished their bowling game while the girls and I played at the arcade and picked out some crap, er, prizes. We never got to mini-golf, as by this time it was after the girls' bedtime.

We said lots of goodbyes and thank yous and the girls left pretty elated, armed with balloons, leftover cake, gifts, and $20 left in arcade cards for another day! We also left with our Make a Wish Packet which had our Expense Check, all our reservations and confirmation numbers, and a free DVD and Birnbaum Guide to Disney World. It was a wonderful night, and the girls left SO excited for their upcoming adventure!

What a fabulous party! Your girls (who are gorgeous by the way!) look like they had a blast--love how they got beautified--and didn't even know they were going to a party! Love the picture of Gabriella in front of the banner. Killer smile!

Love the backpacks full of trip essentials! Every girl needs a place to keep her treasures and personal items--and those backpacks are wonderful. :)

Love how your MAW reps planned everything perfectly--right down the venue and the cake. Couldn't have been more magical!

Have an amazing time getting ready for your big adventure this weekend! You all deserve a wonderful vacation. :)

Look forward to hearing all about your trip!

Looks like it was a great night! I hope you all have a great wish trip full of so much magic and memories. Safe Travels!

How fun!!! I hope you have a wonderful trip! I love that your group sends you off to Disney with a party. How great is that?!!! They must have felt so special. Your girls are adorable, btw. Wishing you much pixie dust!

Our trip report actually starts the day before we left. We spent Saturday morning packing like crazy so we could be on the road by 10:30 am. It was raining when left, and besides losing a card and almost forgetting a camera, my cousin Abby (who is our traveling partner) had just gotten a new spray tan that ended up looking a little spotty because of the rain. But we were on the road only a few minutes behind schedule! We dropped our dogs off on the way up and then headed to the Mall of America. We ate lunch there and stopped by the Disney Store to pick up Abby’s Park Hopper so we didn’t have to bother buying it the first morning.

We then headed over to our hotel, the Waterpark of America Hotel. We got there early (2 pm for a 4pm check-in) but were hoping to swim while waiting for our room. Blessing #1- our room was already ready! We went upstairs and the girls were absolutely THRILLED to find 2 bunkbeds with a curtain they could close.
IMG_4365.jpg

This would prove to be the highlight of the night.
IMG_4358.jpg

(DH is already not liking the pictures)
We changed and headed to the waterpark. Blessing #2- they gave us an extra waterpark pass for Abby free! No pictures from the waterpark as I didn’t want to either lose my camera or have it end up broken, but we had a great time. Gabriella loved the kid play area and going down the small waterslides. She had one she just went on over and over and over. Aleah loved the big slides, especially the 10 story family raft ride! I think Kevin was having almost as much fun at the water park as the girls. About 5 pm, Abby, Gabriella and I headed back to our room to order pizza for supper. Gabriella went and hid in the bunkbeds with the curtain closed (there were little nightlights in there.)
IMG_4353.jpg

Abby and I thought she was playing "so quietly" in there. Turned out she was in there eating ALL of her candy necklace we later discovered. Oh well, it is vacation! It was probably another hour before Kevin and Aleah made it back. He stated Aleah would’ve stayed there all night if we let her.
IMG_4359.jpg

We enjoyed pizza and tried to get everything packed and arranged for the very early 4:45 pick-up time! Right about bed time Abby surprised me with 2 chocolate lava cakes and ice cream for my birthday that day from the hotel restaurant. They were to die for. (And if you can see in the picture, Gabriella was eating with 2 spoons and holding it with her feet! This would start a long trip of her being just crazy!)
IMG_4371.jpg

IMG_4369.jpg

After filling the girls with sugar and more sugar, we told them it was time for bed. Despite having their own bed area, Aleah was tossing and turning a LOT and took awhile to fall asleep. By the time Aleah was asleep, Abby was already snoozing away on her bed. Everyone appeared to be sleeping well except Kevin and I. He wasn’t feeling good and in turn that kept me up. 4:15 am came VERY early. The girls, however, needed no help waking up.
IMG_4374.jpg

They bounded out of bed when they heard us moving around. We all made it downstairs on time.
IMG_4376.jpg

We waited about 2 minutes
IMG_4377.jpg
(their faces here are so funny)
then they saw this.
IMG_4378.jpg

The girls were SO excited to see the Limo. They started going crazy in the car, head banging and dancing to the music. The rest of us just shook our head at them.
IMG_4384.jpg

IMG_4386.jpg
(I know this is blurry but it's the only way to convey their craziness.)
We arrived and found a greeter from Make a Wish waiting for us.
IMG_4387.jpg

She was worried as some flights were cancelled the day before due to a power outage but we sailed through security with absolutely no line. This was the first time flying since Gabriella got the pacemaker, so she got a “pat-down”, which she loved. She giggled through it and would be happy to have it done again on the way back. We made the long trek to our gate and waited for the restaurants to open. We had McDonald’s breakfast while chatting with our greeter who was a huge Disney fan and DVC owner. She began to try to talk Kevin into the virtues of owning DVC. More pixie dust, we managed to get our seats rearranged all together at the gate (we were sitting with all 5 scattered about.)
IMG_4391.jpg

IMG_4400.jpg

IMG_4404.jpg

IMG_4413.jpg

The flight was pretty uneventful. The girls don’t mind flying and they look like pros on the plane…they get their pillows out and arrange their blankets and activities. They kept themselves occupied on the flight for the most part and I thought how nice it was that they were getting older and didn’t need constant attention. I, on the other hand, wasn’t doing too well. I think it was the McDonald’s breakfast and mocha latte that was setting my stomach spinning and to my dismay they no longer put airsick bags in each seat. But luckily I located one and more luckily didn’t need to use it. Once we got off the plane, I felt much better. We were in Florida! And had beautiful hot, humid weather to great us, along with a Give Kids the World Representative. She had a luggage cart waiting for us and took us down to baggage claim and then out to our car.
IMG_4416.jpg

Gabriella decided to be difficult at this point and refused to pose with her sign at the airport, but did oblige at the Villa.
IMG_4440.jpg

Once we had our luggage we were wisked away to our rental car and just a few more minutes and we were on our way.
IMG_4421.jpg

Aleah was thrilled that in Florida she didn’t need a booster seat. At this point it already became evident that they seem to have thought of everything….from the luggage cart to printing the directions to GKTW on the back of your welcome sign! By the time we reached Orlando, the girls were cranky and hungry and we all learned a valuable lesson…they would not be allowed to sit next to each other in the car!
IMG_4425.jpg

Too much fighting and “she’s touching me” whining going on. We stopped at Walmart for a bite to eat at McDonalds and bought some snacks, sunscreen, etc.

Then onto Give Kids the World! We pulled in to the House of Hearts about 1 pm and were greeted with “You must be Gabriella’s family!” What a great greeting! Gabriella was given a stuffed Mickey and Aleah got a Shamu. Richard met with us and gave us our room key and meal key, etc. and explained a few basic things while the girls played on the interactive computers. Then the girls and I rode in the golf cart to our villa, Richard pointing out all the sights and shortcuts along the way. We arrive at our Villa and are excited to find that we are in a CASTLE in the new section, right across from the playgroud. Gabriella loved to talk about going home to her “Castle”.
IMG_4429.jpg

Inside the girls shriek and are exited over everything, especially the fact that they have a HUGE bathroom, and mom and dad only get a small one! We found an extra toy and snack on the table and pop and water in the fridge.
IMG_4431.jpg

Although the stuffed animal was a little questionable looking, Gabriella loves puppies and quickly became attached to him.
IMG_4430.jpg

IMG_4434.jpg

We did have one hitch, and that was that Abby was not listed on our paperwork despite her signing all the forms and me giving our Wish Chapter all her information. The front desk person called me and when I assured her MAW MN had approved her, she said she would take care of it, and an hour later Abby’s meals and stay were all approved.

We quick unpacked and got organized and then headed to the pool.
IMG_4436.jpg

At this point I was pretty sure we were in heaven. The pool was gorgeous and empty!! Maybe only 3 other people there.
IMG_4444.jpg

The girls loved the beachballs and noodles floating about and Gabriella especially loved the zero-entry.
IMG_4474.jpg

She was able to lay down and jump in and splash all around.
IMG_4489.jpg

IMG_4465.jpg
With the palm trees and island music and sun, I never wanted to leave.
IMG_4494.jpg

BUT, someone had to go to orientation! After about a half hour I left the family at the pool to head back to the House of Hearts.
IMG_4499.jpg

I took the opportunity of the walk to take a few pictures.
IMG_4505.jpg

IMG_4509.jpg

IMG_4510.jpg

Now they tell you this orientation will take a half hour….it took an hour, and I left right after the presentation while everyone else was still asking questions!

We changed and got ready for supper. We ate at the Gingerbread House for supper and then went to check out the Castle of Miracles.

Stay tuned for The Spa, The Wish, and The Star.

Fabulous!! As a fellow MN, I'm loving seeing how things went for you guys!

LOVE all the pics!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: :cheer2:

The girls started at the spa and got their nails painted and each got some tattoos. They love this kind of stuff!

Nails drying

IMG_4537.jpg

Getting her first tatoo!

IMG_4542.jpg

IMG_4543.jpg

The way their holding her down you'd think she was getting a real tatoo!

IMG_4548.jpg

Gabriella's turn for her nails!

They also left with new My Little Pony lunchboxes! Then we did Gabriella’s star.
IMG_4552.jpg

I wrote her name on the star. Then she put it in the box for the Star Fairy to retrieve and hang. All the while not letting go of the lunchbox.
IMG_4554.jpg

IMG_4557.jpg

She was then told to Make a Wish and the Star Fairy appeared on the screens in front of her. She didn’t seem too interested in the little program that goes with it at the time, I think too much other stuff going on.

We then went to make their pillows and check out the new star tower!

IMG_4566.jpg

IMG_4575.jpg

I think Aleah is supposed to be making a Wish here.

IMG_4578.jpg

The tree shakes before the pillow is dropped.

And the trip wouldn’t have been complete without a ride on the carrousel.
IMG_4517.jpg

We started to head back to our Villa and on our way found a cookie cart offering fresh cookies and lemonade!
IMG_4581.jpg

It seemed so surreal, just happening upon someone handing you free snacks and drinks. We dropped off their new stuff at the villa and took the very short walk down the street to the World’s Largest Candyland Game!
IMG_4583.jpg

The World's Largest Candyland Game is held at their beautiful new playground. Sadly, we were so busy all week that we never had a chance to go to the playground except today. Gabreilla decided she wanted to participate in the Candyland game, and Aleah did not. Kevin took Gabriella up to start the game.
IMG_4586.jpg

IMG_4589.jpg

It would be boring just to walk to the next space.
IMG_4592.jpg

Aleah started playing the many carnival games that were set up on the street. You know the type...bean bag throwing, duck pond and the like.
IMG_4603.jpg

After playing the game the kids got a ticket which could later be redeemed for crap. This is Aleah's favorite thing in the world...collecting crap. She loves every sort of carnival and spends the entire time with baited breath waiting til she can pick out something plastic worth exactly 3 cents. This crap then gets put into a bag which she carries all around the house, spreading this crap far and wide under my couches and to soon be stuck in my vaccum cleaner.
After the Candyland game Gabreilla joined in the games, but not before meeting who I am told is Princess Lolly.
IMG_4599.jpg

Anything that resembles a Princess is exciting to Gabriella.

IMG_4601.jpg

Aleah and Kevin even played a game of Giant Checkers.

IMG_4604.jpg

Aleah was better at this than Kevin originally thought so this game went on for awhile. I was so thrilled when dad finally decided to throw the game so we could get the girls home and to bed.

IMG_4618.jpg

The girls redeemed their tickets for a bunch of stuff which eventually found it's eay into their new lunchboxes. Did I mention while the game playing was happening the girls enjoyed snowcones, cotton candy, and Kool-aid? They also had a booth for making your own gingerbread houses and a tent with Candy but we didn't make it to either. I wanted to stop at the candy tent on the way home but for some reason Kevin felt like after ice cream, cookies, cotton candy, snow cones, and Kool-aid, the girls didn't need any candy??? We got the girls in bed with their new animals, pillows, and lunchboxes, to get a good night's sleep before our first day at Disney.

LOVE reading the Trip report so far...Have to laugh about the collecting "crap" because Anthony does it too...He collects it in boxes and bags because he needs to "organize" it.....:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:Must be a rite of passage for kids.
