Hi! We just returned from a week at the Reef Resort, part of the Interval Exchange, and three days at the Wilderness Villas at WDW. In one word ...WOW:cool1: ... The resort is on the island's East End which is about 40 minutes from Georgetown. We had a one bedroom suite with a spectacular view of the Caribbean. The suite and resort were beautiful and very CLEAN. The staff had just received work that the Reef Resort and staff was picked #1 in the Caribbean by Expedia for vacation destinations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this resort and it was well worth the 160 points in exchange. I'll be glad to answer and questions. Have a Disney Day!

Thank you for the information and report. Glad you had a great time :beach:

It is nice to hear reports of people using their points outside of DVC. I am glad you had a great trip and thanks for the report!!:goodvibes

How expensive was the airfare from Maryland? I live in Westminster (used to live in Crofton for 25 yrs!), so we will fly out of BWI. Did you do many excursions or just enjoy the beach and hotel? Thanks for any info!:wizard:

Because we have a DS who isn't really "into" Disney, but we do want to include him on vacations, I really enjoy reading about these sort of trips. I'm glad you had such a great time.

So glad to hear you had a great stay! Can I ask how long did you wait for the exchange to come through II????

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for the report! I have been considering this resort ever since our DCL cruise. A few questions...

1. What did you think of the resort--rooms, pool, restaurants, etc?

2. How was the beach at the resort?

3. Did the resort seem too quiet and far away from the action at Georgetown?

Thanks!

Donna

Thanks for posting such a positive experience.

Early on in our ownership we thought we'd take advantage of exchanges but ended up enjoying OKW and WDW so much that we never did. Seeing a disproportionate number of posters on this board expressing their complete dissatisfaction with their exchange didn't help convince me to give II a try.

I'll put the Reef Resort on our list of possibilities...who knows a week at the Reef Resort may well be our first exchange.

BWV-I am sorry but my husband has his pilot's license and he flew us in our plane. It was our first trip of Cuba:scared1: but we applied for a Cuban overflight? permit or something like that and it was a breeze. I understand that Cayman Airlines offer good rates during the "off" season which is summer and early fall. They just announce that they are offering flights out of JFK. Not much help for us Marylanders. We rented a car which is a must and remember stay to the LEFT!! We spent one day a Rum Point and had lunch and swam and jetskiied. Great day. We also went out on a catamaran (sp?) and sailed to stingray city and snorkel at the coral reef. This was through the resort and since we went to the sales pitch in the morning (only a half hour and very low pressure) the trip was free for my hubby and I and $40 for each kids. A $120 savings. My daughter (13) and hubby went on a resort dive at Sunset House in Georgetown and my son (9) and I went on the Atlantis sub and shopped. Another great day in paradise.

dizzneebabe- I can't remember but I think it was close to a year.

donmil723-1. the resort was great. Very clean and rooms were very roomy. the master bedroom was huge with two big closets, safe and king size bed.
The pools (3) were somewhat connected and very nice. We only eat at the bar and the food was very good.
2. The beach was very clean and plenty of chairs. The palm trees are very small I guess new since Ivan and offered little shade. They do have a dozen or more "umbrellas" :big wooden ones with palm covered roofs.

3. The resort is away from Georgetwon but we never missed it. Two nights the resort offered a great DJ with dancing and games and two night they had a singer there the Barefoot Man. There are great restaurants close by and we only went to Georgetown once the whole week.

I hope you do add the Reef to your list of possible exchanges. The island is so lovely with no trash and no crime. We felt very safe and the people of the Caymans are truly glad to see you:woohoo:

Thanks for the info. I am on the list for Hawaii - Maui through II for May/June of '09. I was able to get great info from Dean on which resorts to try for. So I am hoping I get one and I too will give a trip report. Your comments are appreciated! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info! I really liked Cayman when we stopped there on a DCL cruise last year. Have been thinking about another cruise in February 2009 but maybe we should consider The Reef instead!

We stayed at the Reef for a week in May and loved it. We almost bought a timeshare there but decided on DVC instead!
