Wow, what a great time! Let on Nov.2ndform Philly, had to sit on the runway for over an hour waiting to take off. Our plane was "bumped" by another plane getting into a gate. Who knew, a fender bender. Oh well, got to Orlando later than expected but breezed through ME line and boarded the bus. Waited maybe 10 minutes before we were off. VWL was the first stop. Arrived about 8:30pm so we had to check in and catch up on some fun. Ate at whispering Canyon, very good, and then back to the room to change up and hit the hot tub.
Our room was on the first floor, studio, with a woods view. Nice and quiet. We didn't know anyone was around. The room was in good condition although the toilet had some issues. This was fixed the next day.
Up early on Friday we headed to the F/W festival at Epcot. We started out with Soarin. Some of my girls hadn't done this before. Everyone loved it. Then Talk with Crush. Hilarious!!! Of course we did Test Track while one of my girls did Mission Space. She's brave. I can't stomach that ride. Did it before. One and done. Did a lot of stores. Got my Hummer t shirt. Boy, what you can do without kids around.
Off to World Showcase. Started taste testing in Canada with the cheese soup. Yummy. Got my first taste of wine in France and kept going. Loved all the kiosks. Don't you know as we entered Italy a group of comedians startrd a show. We were one of the firsts to arrive and of course as luck would have it I got picked to be in the show. It was called Romeo and Edna. Has anyone seen this one? I hammed it up as much as possible. The 3 Disney comedians were really funny. What a day so far. We kept on hitting every store possible and testing beers and wine. By the time we hit Mexico the clouds and winds had picked up a good bit. It went form a balmy 75ish degrees to 10 degrees less. We figured we would go to the hotel, change clothes and head back later for fireworks. Well that never materialized. We headed over to the Contemporary by boat. OOOh big mistake. It was chilly and a long wait for the boat. We did arrive hoping to eat at the Grille but to no avail. No room even in the lounge. We went back down and sat in the lounge outside of the Concourse Steakhouse and had hours de vours and drinks. Perfect! Headed back to the WL by bus this time and hit the sack....shew long day, we were pooped.
Next day up and headed by ferry to the MK. Had breakfast on Main Street and hit some rides, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and Space Mountain later. It was shut down earlier for a bit. My one friend hit AK so that she could do EE and then met up with us. She road it 3 times in a row. Got to hit EVERY shop on Main Street. That was a first. Loved just people watching. Ate lunch at the Liberty Tavern. Very dissapointed that they don't do the honey butter anymore with the rolls. This was always my favorite. The meal was good anyway. I guess it was about 5:00 and decided to do more shopping at DTD. We made the mistake of taking the monorail to T&T. There wasn't a bus going to DTD from there. Amateur's mistake. So we walked over to check out the Polanesian. Beautiful resort, not my preference though, too dark and a little dated. Took a bus and headed to DTD. It's amazing what you see on a crowded bus. I'll get into this later. Arrived and guess what, more shopping. I thought it was a little crowded, but from what I was told this was mild. I loved the Disney version of the "dollar store". The 10 "dollar store". After a few hours we took a bus to the Boardwalk to eat dinner. Went over to the ESPN club and I had a Glowtini and soup. The drink was potent but I did my best. While eating, I realized that we had some bags that we needed to claim at the gift shop. It was getting late at this point, so we slugged our drinks and caught a taxi bus to VWL. That poor driver! We were a little sloppy at this point. He got us there FAST. We lapped a few busses on the way. Got our bags from the store and did some last minute shopping. Headed back to the hot tub one last time and the late night clock was ticking.
Next day I was awoken by a good morning Mickey call and out we went to Roaring Forks for a quick muffin and coffee. It was empty considering it was 6:30am. This place was a mob scene the past 2 mornings with lines a mile long. I think that it is too small for resort of this size. Missed our bus at 7:00 but took the 7:30 bus to the airport. We hit 2 other resorts first. It's amazing how many people aren't prepared when the bus actually comes, shuffeling for vouchers or waiting for family members to run from the room. Oh well we got there in no time and we were the first stop. The plane ride was uneventful and we arrived in Philly on time. No fender benders!
Some observations. It was great to get away without the family, although you see some pretty scary things. Like, why is it when a man holding a baby gets on a crowded bus, no one gives up a seat for him? I was appalled. Is it everyone for himself anymore. And when we were exiting a bus, why do people totally hold up the line to ask the driver for restaurant recommendations? People under dressing children in cold weather and the bickering that goes on with families in public. Geez, I hope I never do that again with my hubby. One more thing, the waiting in line issue. Why is it that people totally disregard you and walk past to form a new line or just plain jump in front? I think people need to go to manners 101 before enteriong the World.
Well enough complaining. All in all a great time. Yeah, I missed hubby and the kiddies, but could totally see hubby and I returning for a long weekend in the future. My girls totally enjoyed their time also. Wish it didn't end so quickly!
