Trip report from Disneyland Paris & our Med cruise

With the recent buzz about DCL going back to the Med in 2013, I remembered I hadn't finished reading your trip report...so I'm back to see if anything has changed.

You've really put together an amazing trip report Annie. Sorry about the issues with the webpage loading. If it helps I've learned quite a bit from your adventures and I'll know what to avoid if I ever get the courage to try my own web blog.

I've steered away from the prior Med cruises because they seemed too port intensive for me. I liked having a break with sea days in the middle for our Baltic cruise...but after reading your trip report I'm re-thinking it and dreaming about trying a Med cruise for us (maybe 2013:cloud9:)

Thanks for all the hard work you put into this report so far. I've truly enjoyed reading it:thumbsup2

I so WISH we could afford to go again but we can really only afford to cruise about once every 3 years (let along think about flights to Europe again)...and on top of the OTHER vacations we try to slip in. :rolleyes1 OY!!

Glad to see I still have a fan out there....I will try to fiddle with the blog again soon - I got really sidetracked with Christmas thrown in the mix too. I just HAD to order super fancy picture cards for Christmas  which was a small project in of itself THEN I got the bright idea of putting calendars of Europe together as gifts for a bunch of people so I had to put those together (super fun to put together but time consuming) THEN I've also been working on our photobook on Shutterfly trying to get it to the point of finishing it up...wanted to be ready for whenever they had another sale but haven't spent enough time on it lately...WELLLL, they sent out an email last week that the photo books would be 40% off thru Jan. 4th so I have been concentrating on that the past few days then we weren't home at all today (took a road trip down to Charlottesville, VA to visit BIL & SIL) and just got home...then found an email that came today that they're offering an ADDITIONAL 12% off all orders thru Jan. 4th so I am more determined than ever to get this sucker DONE and ORDERED!! :rotfl: I am up to page 29 (and only on the Cinque Terre port) so I need to hustle thru the rest of it SOMEHOW. I want to order a 12 x 12 book and with this many pages (you have to pay to add each add'l page after the first 20 and can add up to 1,000 pics) it will be a nice savings if I can get it completed in the next 2 days!! I have so many pics to sort thru and am trying to keep a running picture count as I go so I leave enough openings for each day. Now that I'm this far I think I could've actually spread things out a little more (and then could've had each picture a little larger rather than cram so many onto 1 page) but it would take waaay too much time to start over again.:headache: I just wasn't sure how it was going to play out.:headache: OH WELL. Such pressure!! :rotfl:

Did you see Cinque Terrestrial suffered bad flood damage not so long ago?! Glad we got to see it.

Really need to change the dates on the cruise we booked while onboard but keep forgetting :lmao:

:goodvibes

I saw something on the internet about the floods in Cinque Terre...but I didn't see any pictures on the news or anything. Apparently some people died too. Sad.

I moved our re-booking that we made to a 4 night on the Dream for Aug. 2013 when they released the last batch of itineraries but I doubt we'll keep it. BUT ya never know!:rolleyes1 It was right after they reclassified those hundred or so cabins so I snagged one that they put in the obstructed view category but looked more like the old "secret verandah" cabins on the Magic & Wonder - hardly any obstruction but a big price break - and only a couple hundred more than an OV cabin. As much as we prefer the longer cruises the 7 night ones on the Fantasy were so much more - just about as much as what we paid for the Med which I thought was absurd...and with the bills from the Med still fresh in my mind I couldn't imagine being able to afford any more than a 4 nighter next time. Plus we only need 1 more to be "Gold" so maybe a 4 nighter would be OK. Since Hawaii isn't looking like a "go" for us for next summer we will more likely try to plan THAT trip for 2013 and postpone another cruise until 2014. If we wait another year maybe we can do a 7 nighter. Crossing my fingers for THAT scenario!! :goodvibes

I've been away from most of the DIS for a whole so didn't see about the reclassifications, I may check them out before moving out booking :)

Will probably move to a 4 night dream for April 2013 for now but like you id rather do a longer one so may eventually change to a fantasy 7 nighter :)

Who knows, maybe out paths will cross again aboard one of those ships :)

:goodvibes

Annie - love the trip report!! Was going to ask you some questions about your Med cruise as it seems the Magic is going back in 2013. Waiting to see what they do with the Wonder. Not sure we can swing Hawaii this summer with y'all but am thinking maybe an East Coast tour is in order at the end of June.

Cruise in 2013 may depend on an interesting itinerary. Maybe wait until 2014. Was so hoping for a 11 or 12 day southern carib. But it doesn't look good so far.

The new ships interest me not. Will just wait and see what DCL has to offer in the next few weeks. And yes, it's killing me!:thumbsup2

:yay: YAY! A surprise reader! I need to call ya...I have pretty much given up on the idea of Aulani for this summer. :sad1: Flights are just too much from here... But if ya'll come back East & we don't hook up for quick DISfunctional Wonderpeep reunion visit I'll be reallllly bummed! We must talk!!:thumbsup2

(PS) LOVE the smilie riding a horse in your siggie! That is GREAT!

Well we went ahead and booked the Med for 2013.
Partly your "fault";)
Your TR was so darn good it really made me want to sail there when DCL went back.
I really liked how you did Rome and Naples especially so I'll be looking at the same company you used most likely.

Thanks so much for all the time and hard work you put into the TR:hug:

:thumbsup2 That's awesome! Which one did you book?! I am not ashamed to say that I am JEALOUS because who knows if / when we'll ever get to go back again!! The longer ones sound FABULOUS!! Now that we've done our tiime in Barcelona & Paris I think they'd be especially nice. The shorter one worked out well for sandwiching it inbetween our time on land but it really is nice to stay put on the ship & not have to pack up & move so often. Our first 5 days were sooo hectic with our moving around. I mean, it was great & I'm sooo glad we did Paris first, but I was also so glad to unpack on the ship!!

I just found out yesterday that RomeInLimo found my blog & they posted the link on their Facebook page. So I commented on it and then they said they put it on their website too! So I guess I'd better get back at it & finish it up if I may be getting some new readers who don't know my agravation that I had with it!

Any chance you can give me the shortened version of your flight home here. I remember reading about how you had troubles going home. We booked a cruise in 2013 to Europe with the Greek Islands. We were thinking of doing Paris before the cruise. But I wanted to hear about your issue with your flight home before I consider using Air France. I'll be using points so, I need to research well in advance so, I can figure where to deposit my points. Thanks, Tina

:headache: Wanted to tell you that I wrote what must've been THE longest post in DISboard history EVER yesterday & when I went to preview it I had of course timed out and when I tried to log back in something went wonky & I lost the whole entire post! It said something about refreshing & logging in again. :confused3 I dunno what happened. BUT...next time I re-write it I will do it in Word so I can use the text for my blog too 'cuz of course I can't do anything in shorthand!! :sad2:
