Finally, thanks??? to a case of the flu for my six year-old, got this posted. Go to the cruise trip report board. Add your experiences!!!! Thanks to all of you for your advice and encouragement.
Thanks for the great report! I would suggest that you write the comments regarding accessibility to DCL. As I mentioned before, I spent a day with the crew captain, who followed me with a palm pilot, pointing out issues, many which you reiterated. I was pretty upset to find out that nothing had been done to resolve anything when I asked a few months ago. There are many simple things which could be done to improve accessibility and safety. That automatic door on Deck 9 had to be my pet peeve! I'm glad you had a good time despite some trials. Next time, book the accessible stateroom. It was huge, with a large bathroom, plenty of room to store a chair( mine was next to me since I'm attached to parts of it at night- wasn't in the way at all), and if you choose a veranda room, it's plenty large for a chair and other guests to relax on. --Kathy
Kathy, I had read your post, sad that DCL has done nothing with your comments. There was a couple on our cruise with a little girl in a wheelchair. They had just started to get information on the accessibility of shore excursions once they were on board, and seemed frustrated. They said one of the CMs on board claimed there was a web site where DCL was trying to get input from riders on ship problems. I did not see them again to ask if they got the address. I asked Guest Services on board, but they were clueless. Heard anything? I got the impression that they were trying to get input for a new ship. Maybe when the Magic goes into dry dock in October 2003 some things will change. Let us hope! I did send both the report and the link to DCL. No reply (surprise, surprise) yet.
