I asked last week what "dollar stores" y'all liked. On Tuesday I passed a Dollar Tree and here is my report:

I like it! The gift wrap section is great. They have huge metallic curly bows 3 for $1 (one for $1 at Dollar General). I also got some nice gift bags.

Besides that bought:
200 various sized safety pins (great with dance recital coming up)
package of 70 sewing needles
12 pocket shoe organizer for WDW trip
2 zipper bags to store comforters

The one dollar item that was funniest to me was the pregnancy test. Can a one dollar pregnancy test really be relied on?

Being in Texas, they had a lot of Mexican snacks...maybe when I get brave I'll go back and buy some (e.g. salted prunes; lemon chile peanuts).

I'll certainly shop there again.

My DD4 is POSITIVE proof that the $1 pregnancy tests work GREAT!! When I bought some they actually came 2 to a pack for $1. I was a bit sceptic too so I took both of them. Both read positive and 8 months later DD4 was born. When we did the first ultrasound and saw our little "peanut" picture I remember laughing and telling my Dr. about the $1 pregnancy tests! Glad you had a great Dollar Tree trip. It is always fun to go there because you never know what great things you will find! ENJOY!!

LOL! The pregnancy tests may have still been two for a dollar. I admit that at my age, I didn't pick them up and examine them.

My favorite Dollar Tree purchases:

GLOW STICKS! I got 2 22" necklaces and 2 braclets for $1. Spent $3 total and got enough for each kid to have 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets! This will be a fun little surprise on for the kids on our trip.

Another thing(not disney related) that I was thrilled to find there are body soaps and shampoos. I don't need to buy the designer stuff and the way we go thru liquid body wash and shampoo is ridiculous. Next time I'm running low, this is where I will stock up.

How about the hair "scrunchies". DD12 is always in need of more hair rubberbands and scrunchies. At Walmart it's lik $3.99 for a pack of 3 or 4 scrunchies...at dollar tree, $1 for the same thing. Also got a package of 25 or so hair rubberbands...you know, with the coating so they don't ouch your hair but they're just elastics, not the scrunchies. On the same trip I picked up a can of hair mousse for $1. DD12 was so excited with these low cost items, you would have thought I spend $50!

I used the pregnancy tests too! And I got positives. The lines were lighter than the expensive tests - and I of course used the expensive ones to be sure.

I just returned from the Dollar Tree. I'm there like once a week looking for new stuff. Just last week they had sweatpants and shirts for DD (age 5). How much cheaper can they get. It's great to take them for camping and chilly nights. Who cares if they get messed up.

I always find something new on my trips!!!

Dollar Tree can be a great place :) The other day I went in for the rain ponchos (2/$1!) and also picked up battery operated fans that have a strap to go around the neck. What a deal. I tried them all out as soon as I got home just to be sure they work, and they are pretty powerful. I figure I'll pick up one cheap water mister for us to share and we can all use our own fans.

I see my fill of dollar stores constantly.. in our lil city we have 8 differnt true "$1" stores.. about 10 "$5" and under stores.. and a about 10 other dollar stores in our neighboring cities. My mom is addidcted to these things. I must admit I can be too. I went to one of our "super dollar" stores and spent $75. :rotfl: i felt a lil silly. but got alot of great deals. Usually every couple of months we have a dollar day and go hit as Many as we can in a day.

I'm going to Dollar Tree tomorrow. It was 70 degrees out today and I wanted to hang laundry out. I can only find about 1/4 of my clothes pins! I think DD4 got into them over the winter! I know the wooden clothes pins are a lot more than $1 at the supermarket.

As far as the preg tests go. I've used them twice in the past year when I was late and getting nervous. They were both negative and well, we still have just 4 kids. Whew! DH said, "You used a pregnancy test from THE DOLLAR STORE?!?!?!" LOL

:rotfl: I've had the exact same experience, except we still have THREE kids :rotfl2:
