Trip Report- Family of 5 in a BLT Studio:oh my

In the other studios where I've stayed throughout my Disney Life there has always been a full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door. Why can't they just do that??? Sheesh......:confused3

They cant because the bathroom door is a sliding door.

Congratulations! Can't believe you did it! When we toured BLT in May and saw the studio sink problem it really grossed me out!!! Since it's just DH and I, we usually stay in a studio and it totally turned us off adding on at BLT. But....we added on anyway getting enough points to stay in a 1 bedroom every other year! I don't think we will ever stay in a studio at BLT.

So nice to hear you had a wonderful, magical trip!

DH and I did a studio stay for 3 nights at the beginning of August. I would do it again for the 2 of us, MAYBE with 1DD, but that would be MAX for us. The hairdryer in the kitchen option is disgusting. I usually took it around the door corner and into the hallway, or actually in front of the wall mirror that hangs over the table (across from the sofa bed). Does anyone agree with me though that the storage options in the kitchenette are ingenious?

5 in a studio:scared1: last time we did 5 in a 1 BR and although it wasn't bad (didn't have #4 then) it was tight - I give you credit... :worship:

DW and I TRUELLY do enjoy our stays with our kids in a studio! We are close, not seperated by bedrooms, like at home. Our 4th of July trip we were in a studio (BWV) with 2 teens and we had a ball. Laughed our tails off and just "caught" up with them and they with us. Sure was a little cramped but even with one rain day we really had a great time....Now I know BLT is a little smaller, but for us at least, I think it'll do just fine.... Shawnpirate:

I have a great photo of my son standing between the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink and you can see just how close it is. But I don't have a photo account anywhere so no way to post it.

Here is a screen capture from the virtual room tour on the public DVC website showing the combined kitchenette and bathroom vanity:

If you want to see the virtual tour, here is the link: http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/miniSite/index?name=CrystalMiniSitePage

If you look at the floor plan in the lower left corner of this screen capture, it shows the bathroom vanity in the same room as the toilet and shower but as we know, that is not what was built.

I believe that the floor plan shown in the screen capture is for a Dedicated two-bedroom unit, as evidenced by the floor plan having only one entrance door. The second bedroom (which would be the studio portion of a lockoff two-bedroom villa) in a dedicated villa does not have the kitchenette. I have looked at the floor plans contained in BLT's Declaration of Condominium, as amended, and the Dedicated two-bedrooms all appear to have the vanity in the bathroom, while the lockoffs have the vanity in the kitchenette area.

as anyone considered blow drying their hair while sitting on a bed??? There is a powerpoint there right?
I guess some of you need a mirror...but I have long hair and I have blown dried it in the most ingenious places...but never including the kitchen.
Just a thought...

And as for Disneypirate85, we all have our own rooms at home as well and so I don't mind hanging out in the same room as my family the whole time. We get on well enough...and even when we have had more space (like a 3 bedroom one time...for the 4 of us) we can have just as many fights but still ALL congregate in the ONE room until we go to bed.

You're right -- that floor plan does not have an exterior door into the studio. It does however have a kitchenette. You can see the sink and the pantry shelving unit. So it's a dedicated 2BR with a kitchenette and the vanity in the bathroom!

:thanks: for the photos. Is the kitchen really across from the vanity? :scared:
Yes. I've seen the model room and it looks just like the photo I posted. I think it would be difficult for two people to be in that space at the same time. So in the morning if one family member is trying to use the bathroom sink while another is making coffee and toast, you will be bumping into each other a lot I think.

But when you click on it it does state it is for a studio and the bedroom only has 1 bed and a couch as opposed to the two beds in a dedicated 2BR. I think that they just show the solid wall in the wrong spot b/c if you look at the sink it indicates the orientation is out towards the kitchenette. There's mistakes in this diagram one way or another.
