We went to MGM first thing this morning to finish up what we didn't get to do the other day. DD7 BEGGED to ride Tower of Terror...I described what it did (I've never ridden it myself) and she STILL begged to ride it...well, what a mistake that was. She was fine and *I* was terrified, she ended up holding my hand the whole time and trying to calm me down. I cried and cried...just kidding, it was the other way around. She was so petrified, I think the windows really freaked her out. I thought the whole ride took place in darkness...no, there are 2-3 windows that look down on the park and make you realize how freakin' high you are! She screamed for all she was worth, in the picture they take of you, I have my hands over her eyes, b/c she would NOT close them! She cried for about 10 minutes afterward! It was the most helpless awful feeling to see your child so terrified and not being able to stop the ride! So I bought her a drink and an ice cream afterwards, trying to calm her down. She kept repeating, "I don't EVER want to ride that again, I don't EVER want to ride that again!" Believe me, that won't be a problem!
We watched Beauty and the Beast afterwards which was really great!! DH rode Rock 'n Rollercoaster, which he said the beginning really surprised him, with the fast takeoff and the immediate hill and loop. I didn't get to ride it :-( While DH did that, DS slept in the stroller and DD and I just sat on the sidewalk and absorbed the magic and the fresh air. It was sooo nice. I LOVE the relaxing moments at DW...just need to make more time for them!

DD7 and I went thru "One Man's Dream" which was really special, we really enjoyed the movie afterwards. It is narrated by Michael Eisner.

We went back to the hotel after this. We got lunch in the food court (did I mention the ASMo food court has really good food? from what I could tell, it's all made fresh for you, so no threat of getting cardboard pizza). Dh took the kids to the playground which was right across from our room and they had a great time. I rested in the room and enjoyed the time alone!

Sorry your DD didn't like ToT - but at least she tried it - my DD wanted to do Alien so bad - she still wont ride it again - 4 years later - thanks for posting!

I am 49 and I agree with your DD!! TOT is something I don't plan on ever doing again! When we rode it both of our children were older teens. In our picture DS is looking cool and calm waving at the camera, DD is screaming with her mouth open, DH is looking at me all concerned, and I have my eyes squeezed shut and am holding on for dear life! :o I didn't like this ride at all!!!

reminding me that rides are not for everyone.....i can sort of do ToT and I loved RnR coaster.....but I hate splash mt......I like to be buckled in for safety......hahaha.......glad you are relaxing and yes All Star Movies Food court is the best......

Sorry to hear about your DD. I would hate that feeling of helplessness, too.

With that said, however, remember that every child is different. My son just turned 5 & I told him he was not tall enough. I found out later that the requirement is 40" (he barely made it). I told him about it & let him ride & he loved it. Had to get a FP so he could do it again. My 7 yr old son did fine but didn't want to do it again; he didn't like the creepy part at the beginning.
