Hi everyone. I'm writing a report for my first WDW trip in just over 10 years. I went w/my father & 2 adult sisters. My younger sister decided she wanted to go as a sort of therapy after our mom died last September. I did most of the planning, including crearting itineraries for each day (these would prove unneccesary, however
)
We booked 2 rooms at POR. None of us had stayed on-property before (unless you coutn Hotel Royal Plaza back in '81). My younger sister's friend was joining us on Thursady night. Unfortunately, my GF had a business trip scheduled for that week & couldn't join us
My cell phone was put to great use that week.
We flew Jet Blue out of JFK, direct to Orlando. The flight left at 8:05 Monday morning, so I was up at the ungodly hour of 5:00. The car arrived before 5:30, and we got to the airport at 6:00. Huge lines, both inside & outside the terminal. We walked in & were whisked to a much shorter line by some blessed man, allegedly because our flight was leaving soo (it was 2 hrs. to take-off). I did not complain.
Flight was good, and arrival was on-time. Bags were even at the carrousel when we got there. Waited about 15-20 mins at the Alamo desk. We rented a full-size for 7 days @ around $200. Piuckled a nice Buick Century from the lot & off we went to the World. Made a quick stop at the Goodings in thge Crossroads SC for breakfast items & any forgotten items, and were at POR before 1:00. Check -in was very quick, but our rooms weren't ready yet, so we left our luggage w/bell servioces, ate lunch in the food court, and went to Epcot.
I knew we were in for an uncrowded park when they directed me to one of the close lots. Walked up to the entrance & came across very few people. As we entered, I checked CE's waiting time, which was 0. On we went. Enjoyable, would be sad to see it changed. We then walked on to TT. My older sister did not ride w/us. Her mistake. Great ride
I do miss "It's fun to be Free" though.
After TT, we went to the WoL pavilion. Rode Body Wars. Horrible ride.
Dated, uncool. Made me queasy for some reason (I had no ill effects on TT). Everyone complaiend about getting slammed around in there seats during the ride. Even the presence of Otter didn't help
We then saw CC. Also a little dated, but still fun & cute.
We then exited the WoL & headed for UoE. Ellen was not neartly as annoying as I feared, and was funny in some parts. It weas a nice long respite from the Fla. heat
It was getting late in the afternoon & my dad wanted to cathc the Fife & Drum Corps in the WS, so we took a Friednship Launch across the lagoon to Morocco. The short wait for a boat was OK because it was shaded. Much better than walking all the way to the American pavilion. Made it there in time to catch Voices of Liberty. They were great. It's good to see performers who know how to engage their audience. We then left the building to catch the Fife & Drums. Dad enjoyed that & got good pictures. We then decided to kill some time before our 8:00 PS at Le Cellier. We walked through Japan, Morrocco & France, taking time in all the shops. We skipped the France movie. As we left France towards the UK, we met up w/the Beast, who wass finishing his greeting session. My younger sister & I both got good pictures w/him.
We got to UK at about 6:30 & we decided to go to Le Cellier to see if we could move our PS time up as we were exhausted. No go, so we went back to the UK. Sat for a while in the park in back & watched the British Invasion show. Lots of fun. After theat we went back to Canada, & saw the movie. By then it was about 10 to 8, so I checked in at the restaurant.
Didn't take too long to get seated, and we had a great server, Meghan. She was very helpful w/the menu. I had the salmon appetizer. That was great.
I had the pan seared halibut for my entree. Also very good. We skipped dessert, as we were really tired & wanted to get back to our rooms. Luckily, Illuminations was well over by the time we left the restaurant, so we had no crowds to deal with. Nice walk out, and the foutnains at the Imagination pavillion are specially cool at night.
We were back at PO by 10:30 or so. We had "water view" rooms, which meant that if I stood in my doorway w/the door open, I got a glimnpse of the quiet pool. Oh well
We were on the 1st floor of Oak manor. I really had no complaints about the room, that A/C was heaven when we got back. The only negative was the long wait on the phone to call for our bags. My dad must have been on for 20 minutes w/the phone just ringing before someone picked up. Bags got there sometime around 11:30. I then sowered & weent to bed around 12:00. Needed a good night's sleep, becuase we were going to MK the next day.
Best thing: Being back at WDW
Worst thing: Feeling sick after BW
Any feedback is appreciated. I hope I didn't scare anyone off w/the length of this report.
