My family of five (ages old-10) were at the world from the 24th-28th staying at the ASMu.

ASMu:
The good - Nice AP rates, having to stay in two rooms we got two bathrooms (as opposed to when we stay at the Contemporary where the 5 of us get to fight for bathroom time). Mousekeeping did a nice job as well.

The Bad - The whistling shower- must be Disney's new water saving technique- the whistling/schreeching was so God awful it was impossible to stay in there to take a long shower. Decided to use the one in my parents room and met whistler's mother, this one was even louder and more obnoxious than ours. Also, bugs in the room, a couple of little mosquitoes and a spider that lived in the bathroom but always stayed within a four inch radius of its original spot.

The Ugly- A bug in my bed  :scared: :faint: OMG it was a disgusting little critter, kinda round and a little bit shaped like a lady bug, but bigger, brown and with the nastiest looking barbed legs...bwah

The Parks :wizard:

Since there weren’t many, I’ll start with the lows:
~Being stuck in the Monorail for a half an hour to get from the TTC to the MK
~Food poisoning from EPCOT’s American pavilion.
~Losing 1 &½ park days to food poisoning.

Highlights:
~The Christmas decorations, parades, CBJ show and Spectacle of Lights were awesome!!!! What a way to put you in the mood for the holidays.
~Pin Trading was awesome got a bunch of cool pins and got all 5 of the new cast lanyard ticket series pins.
~BTM at night: one word...AWESOME :cool1:
~Cast Members- there were some exceptional ones this trip. My 10 yo DB even hunted down one of them to have his pic taken with him because he thought he was so funny.

THE HIGHLIGHT:
My most Magical moment :wizard: : I have never gotten the chance to ride the Teacups before. I've been going to Disney World on and off since I've been 7 and am now 23 and an AP holder and yet have never ridden the Teacups because no one in my family ever wanted to ride with me (and the lines were always too long for me to go alone) :guilty:. So on this trip on one drizzly night :umbrella: shortly after Spectromagic, we were heading on our way over to Tomorrowland by way of Fantasyland. As we're walking the skies open up and a beacon of light shines down from the Heavens parting the drizzle to shine upon my most longing desire...the Teacups...with no line... Well, I took this as a sign from God that it was finally time to fulfill my destiny and ride me a teacup. I did the only thing I could do, I hauled booty over there and left my not-so-teacup-lovin’ family behind. Using the skills that I developed and fine tuned during my early teenage years, I was able to completely ignore my family telling me that I should not go on the ride for whatever reasons they gave- what reasons they gave, I do not know- for I ignored them all. Then the moment of truth came, the ride before my group had ended and the gates opened. I chose a fiery looking blue teacup … and so, my voyage had begun. I spun ‘round and ‘round laughing and giggling like a drunken sailor pirate: (more like a drunken schoolgirl, but you catch my drift). My new motto: Who needs liquor when you’ve got Teacups? I had such a blast!!! I felt like it was my first time at Disney, it was just so new and wonderful and magical. That night, that Teacup…it was Disney…it was the magic. The best part was that my little brother saw what a blast I had (and that I didn’t spew my guts all over the pavement) and he decided he would ride with me on them from that point on, so now I have a Teacups buddy.

NOTE: Okay so there wasn't really a beacon of light shining down from the heavens...but there should have been ::yes::

In conclusion: To quote the bumper sticker “Been there, Done that, Going Back!”

thanks for the good points and the bad points. Sounds like you still had an awesome time

cute post - thanks for sharing
I can do Mission Space, I can do RnR - but I just can't do the teacups!

Thanks for reading all. Yeah, I had an awesome time :Pinkbounc

kathymc- the only thing that I just can't handle is Body Wars, the imagery just gets to me. We learned early on that I just don't have what it takes to be a doctor :D One thing I noticed with the Teacups is that when riding w/ my DB it seemed more intense than when I rode alone b/c he gave me a point of reference to focus on while everything else was spinning.

I had to laugh out loud, when I read your description of the bug in the bed! We lived in the Ft Lauderdale area for six years, and I know exactly the bug you're talking about. I think it's a little spider. They never did anything to us, but they are gruesome looking!
Thanks for the laugh!

Sounds like a fun trip, despite the lows! I love how no matter how many times you go, there always seems to be something you haven't done yet!

What did you eat in America that caused the food poisoning?

I'm glad I got to ride the teacups, too :D

It was definitely a very gruesome looking bug. I just kind of flicked it off of the bed, I probably would have freaked out a bit more if I hadn't found it at the height of my food poisoning.

Poly Princess: I had a burger and coke. The burger seemed to be cooked ok but the toppings appeared to have been sitting there for quite a while (it was well after the lunchtime rush). The toppings also weren't cool, like they had just been stagnating there for a while- which is a big no-no in terms of food prep. Its true what they say about hindsight, looking back I definitely shouldn't have eaten any of the toppings but oh well  No biggie. I lived and still had a great vacation :Pinkbounc

My suggestion now would be to go eat during the rush- at least you know you're getting fresh food. Also, this just reminded me of one night when we were eating dinner at Pecos Bill's: a girl who handled food had come out front and was just chilling with some other CMs and she was swinging on the little bars that divide the ordering queues and she had her rubber food prep gloves on. I can't imagine how much bacteria and disgust :scared: she picked up on those gloves. I just really hope she had the common sense to change them when she went back to prepping the food. Again, this was off of peak eating time.

Wow, that's great! Teacups Triumph! We ate at the AMerican Pavillian and, although we didn't get food poisoning, found it to be the worst food on Disney property... stale buns, no seasonings, runny ketchup and ... no ambiance at all. Why oh WHY can't they put the Liberty Tree Tavern here???? I hope you have more trip reports, cause that was a riot.

Great report. So sorry that you got sick. :sad2:

Amen to that! But we don't need to lose it at the MK...cross your fingers for LTT2...lol

sorry to hear you got sick. two out of three of my friends who went to Disney (different trips) got sick also (I don't know where they ate). I think you always need to on your guard when ever eating food that other people handle. not something fun to think about while at disney. I think Disney should be more on top of the whole food safety issue. glad to hear you had good times on your trip also.
