Trip planning app

All I want is to put in my beginning location, my ending location, and the time I plan to leave.

I want to be able to tell it that I want to stop for sleep 4.5 hours into the trip and have it show me, relatively, where I'd be 4.5 hours into the trip and what my options for hotels are.

I've tried using Google maps, it's not working the way I want it to. If you know any Google maps tricks, I'm willing to learn.

I've tried Forkut and TripIt and they are both way over the top for what I'm wanting to do. I'm sure for someone who wants every second of their trip planned out, they're great, but to me they're really aggrevating.

Any suggestions?

I don't know of an app, but assuming you get on an interstate fairly close to home, find some place that's ~300 miles away (4.5 * 65 = 292). If you stop frequently or have a lot of non-interstate driving, look at ~250 miles. That should give you a pretty good idea.

Never thought of doing any math! As much as I hate math, that's a good idea.

If you do not want to do too much math, just put in cities along your route and see what the estimated time shows on Google. I would also suggest checking hotel options from about 4 - 5.5 hours from where you start. This way, if you have any delays or make really good time, you know what is available.

I know it is probably the only Microsoft product I never regretted purchasing. I wish they'd bring it back. It's exactly what I'm looking for.
