Hi all!

We just decided yesterday to plan a WDW trip for next September. Just 11 months away. We want to try to stay at the Poly but if the price is too steep, possibly AKL again. We will be buying AP's. Here's my question. If we book now, will we be eligible for any discounts or is that not possible this far ahead? I know dh will not book the poly at rack rate. Any advice? Thanks!

If you book it now, you'll be guaranteed to get a room at the resort of your choice, but any discounts you can apply will not be out for months. So you'd have to book at rack rate, then convert it when any discounts come out.

Guess it depends, are you planning on paying rack rate if no specials come out? If so, then go ahead.

We're planning on going again in Sept. I'm going to wait until Apr/May (at least) before booking. That's generally when specials come out (at least they have in the past.) When we go will depend totally on the specials. If nothing comes out for Sept, but for Aug or Oct, well, we'll go in Aug or Sept. I paid rack once, never again.

Also, where we stay will also depend on the special. Sometimes Disney offers specials for some resorts and not others.

Just remember, if you do book, you do have to leave a deposit, but you can cancel and get your full amount back.

Thanks to both of you! It sounds like we're better off waiting too. I just hope I can make myself wait!! ;)

When planning a stay at a WDW resort, we always book early, taking the best deal we can get at the time. We arrived at this the hard way, waiting until Jan. to book an AllStar room for March and almost getting shut out. Had to call back several times, adding days to our ressie as we went. Three years ago we booked AllStar very early at $107 per night. A few months before our trip I noticed codes on this board for $99 per night at PO/FQ, reserved that and cancelled the AllStar. Shortly thereafter a code for
$89 for Riverside came out, we cancelled PO/FQ and booked Riverside. You can always 'trade up' to a better deal once you have a room in hand.

Yes Bill I agree.. BUT I also beleive in ONLY booking I can afford at the time I reserve it. This way no "praying to the AP God" is needed. I read all too often where people book a room based on what they have paid in the past or what they can afford only if a discount is anounced. Consider an unexpected discount as a gift and you won't be disappointed.
