Trip of Extremes and Dreams! Tons of Pics! 11/30 -12/10 Update Highlight to the End

Hi Heidi, just wanted to let you know that I read your last TR. It was great! Also wanted to tell you what a wonderful job you did in raising your DD into the caring and wonderful person she is today.

The cancer shirt is the best I have ever seen.

Thanks!!! When I was having radiation, the nurse told me about a thirteen year old with cancer :guilty: who was wearing one and I went online that day and bought one (not pictured). All the proceeds went to Susan G. Komen. The shirt and those words somehow help to fight back against something that just feels so much bigger than you are. People really respond to them.

By the way, the girl, is doing great!! She's a survivor, too!!!

Now how many more days??? You're getting closer!!!

34 Days!!!!!!! I had to wait until DD came home from work to ask her -- she is the official day keeper!! :hippie:

Thanks so much!! That was so sweet and kind. I was very lucky being a single parent having the help from my wonderful Mom and having such an amazing person for a daughter. :cloud9:

Almost forgot to let you guys know -- I have my mammogram and ultrasound on Tuesday for the lump I found a few months ago. All the swelling is down! I'm feeling really positive about it, though, good thoughts and prayers are always welcome! :goodvibes

I'll let you know on Tuesday -- I should have results immediately!

We'll be waiting patiently (or not) for those results. Be sure to post them right away.

I have my "big squish" next Monday (just routine). It's in my family history, so here's hoping for more good results. :wizard:

Hugs~

It finally came! party: :jumping1:

I've been waiting around like a crazy person for this and it arrived this afternoon! Seeing 10 nights on there put the biggest smile on my face, I can't wait for DM and I to just arrive and soak up that magical holiday spirit, reliving our favorite rides, riding the monorail and hearing the spiel, welcoming us onto the 'highway in the sky' :goodvibes, meeting our favorite character friends. I can't wait for SpectroMagic and all the different foods we'll be eating (so MUCH food on the Dining Plan! popcorn:: ). I can't wait for all the Christmas tunes we'll hear walking the parks, exploring World Showcase and listening to the Voices of Liberty. I can't wait to walk the Animal Kingdom trails, and visit with a certain Yeti. I can't wait for that childlike emotion that is so effortless at Disney. Okay, I have to hold my horses until next month! :lmao: :rotfl:

And here is a new picture of myself! ;)

News about the **** coming up!! :rotfl: ETA: Forgot they don't allow the b*doubleO*b word!!!!

HI EVERYONE!:dance3:

Things went great at the doctor! All the swelling went down and although the changes are pretty drastic to the cancer side (a rigid vein :scared: blaaa) everything is doing just fine! The lump was a "honeycomb" effect where tissue tried to rebuild itself. Boy, I just can't figure out how anyone lives through chemo and radiation when it does so much to your bod!!

They discovered a growth in the right side, but it is totally benign and they don't even have to remove it! :cool1:

I see him again in Feb and will have another set of tests in April. Very, very happy and excited that everything is going so good! :3dglasses

However, listen to this! I've been having tension migraines. So he prescribed Imitrex, which he feels is the best drug for it. At the pharmacy -- it is close to thirty bucks a pill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:  How can the drug companies be allowed to do that? Grrrrr -- makes me furious! I only got three of them and I'm saving them for Disney, just in case. Every time I have a migraine, I have to ask myself if it is a thirty dollar one!!!  :rotfl: This is why I have very little faith in anyone changing health care in this country. Ohh, I'm mad about that! :headache:

BUT, since I'm soooooo HAPPY about my health, I'll let it slide!! :woohoo:

Oh, and Barb, please let us know how your Big Squish goes!!! Good thoughts and prayers for you!!!!!!!!

Heidi that's fantastic :yay: and $30 a pill :faint: OMG you have to move here where it's free!!!!!

Thanks for the goodvibes, I'll let you know how it goes!

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: That is FABULOUS news, Heidi!!!! I was going to call you last night to get the news firsthand, but didn't get to it, sorry. :flower3:

Isn't it funny how we can talk about "the big squish" in a public forum & no one thinks anything of it? Cool, huh? ;)

RE: The $30 pills. YIKES!!!! :scared1: I think I remember you saying you got prescriptions filled at Walgreens. True? I used to also. Are you a member of Costco? Walgreens was TWICE the price of Costco for our meds. On ONE prescription alone, I saved $100 (!!!) by going through Costco instead of Walgreens. I couldn't believe it. Even WalMart was cheaper than Walgreens. I suggest you call around & ask what various drug stores charge. It could be well worth your time.

Here's my disclaimer: I have nothing against Walgreens. I just want everyone to know there are OTHER options out there, you just need to look for them. Disclaimer over. No flames or I'll send Heidi after you! :upsidedow

Your good news is awesome! Now you can relax and imagine yourself in your favorite Disney place! :goodvibes I can't believe how fast your trip is coming!

It is great!!! Just seeing him and hearing how well I"m doing was the best boost I've ever had!!

It is fabulous that we can talk about our squishes and other things on a public board because I think it can help. Maybe one person will discover that I found my lump myself, within six months of a mammogram, and they'll do their own exams. You gotta do it every six months without fail. Mine changed and grew very very fast. I was between Stage 2 and Stage 3, with spreading to the lymphnodes. Had I waited another six months until my official mammogram ....... I shudder to think where I would be right now.

I used to get my meds at Walgreens, Barb, for many years. I switched to Publix (our local grocery store) when I spoke with the pharmacist (who is really cute! :upsidedow ) about price of one of the cancer meds. It was $46 a month at Walgreens and he got it for me for $33 and then got me onto a program that they have that brought the price down to $24. They also told me about a card, where if you don't have insurance, you get the card just by asking for it and your drug prices can almost be cut in half. Tamoxifen is over seventy dollars, and now I pay in the thirties, I believe.

No snarking on Barb or you're gonna be in big trouble!! pirate:

Thanks DisneyDusted!!!! We are really gearing up around here for our trip! We are walking every night so I can get a bit stronger. Even with my ECV, I do stand in lines and such, so I have to "pump up!" :rotfl2: Side note: we have early voting here and the lines are crazy, but DD and I really wanted to do it. We stood in line for two hours and I was great! My back ached where I have the bone degeneration, but it wasn't that bad! I think I'm stronger than I even think!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Today I am going to make my surprise homemade shirts, maybe pack some of the unessentials. Make a list of things I have to do for my Mom since I'm leaving her!! :sad2:

WE LEAVE IN ONE MONTH!!!!

I KNEW you'd have my back!!

What does Christopher Robin say to Piglet? "You're Braver than you think you are"? That's you, Heidi. You are stronger than you think you are.

WE LEAVE IN ONE MONTH!!!!

Just think, on Saturday, you can say "WE LEAVE THIS MONTH!!!" :cool1: :cheer2:

My responses are in red, of course. Where IS that secret decoder ring?? :confused3

Hugs ~ B

Ok, ready for the awesome shirt designs! Hummm, I wonder what you will make? Wow, 2 hours waiting to vote! Good for you being able to make it that long, good practice for Disney, right?!

Your responses wouldn't copy over here!! Silly board!!

I was really lucky to find not just a cute pharmacist, but one who really cares. He remembers all my allergies, what I'm taking and helps with over the counter stuff. He is even insisting on giving me a flu shot. (He is also a dreamer! :rotfl2: ) I was so lucky with the prices.

I try to be brave and strong but I do forget until pressed! I'll remember what you said!

I will always have your back, BFF!!

I have been working on the shirt today on and off! I'm very excited about both of them!!!

Today DD and I went to see our candidate of choice speak. However, Chemobrain had other plans for us and he spoke last night! :sad2: So we went to Walmart. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Sometimes one can dream too big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:sad2: :guilty: :snooty: :scared:

I am a total failure at making shirts and I should have known. When I used to help DD with her science projects, they were the saddest things the school had ever seen and the teachers would call me to find out how heavily I was drinking. (Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad, but this shirt was!)

This was the idea: The words Survivor Chick and the pink ribbon with a whole bunch of Disney characters on the shirt, smiling and being so happy.

.....................

IT LOOKS RIDICULOUS! LIKE A CHILD MADE IT! A CHILD WITH A MOTHER WHO IS A DRUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:scared1:  :sad2: :sad1:

So that is out of the picture completely (and literally cuz even under penalty of marrying Gaston, I would never, ever show you that shirt!!!! It is that bad and I love you all too much!)

But I will show you the picture for the one that came out good.

DARLA.jpg

She's one of my best girls!!! :dance3:  :cool1:

So now I'll wear that shirt as pajamas and think of something else to wear that does NOT include me doing anything to it other than packing and unpacking it!!

:grouphug:
