Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

Loved the pictures from your walk about the Poly. I am thinking maybe you had dinner at Kona's?

Okay well since I know where you went to dinner, I'll comment on the Poly pics.popcorn::

That was the hammock that I called you from the time we stayed at the Poly! Do you remember that? It was my first morning there and I called you and said I was looking at the castle.princess: It's the bestest one they have.:beach:
Cute pics of little dude BTW. He looks so happy!

What did they get for supper that night?

The Poly looks so small and nice. Pretty sure it will feel ginormous after they get finished w the upgrades.:headache:

We just bought ourselves a hammock at home. Your view is a little more magical I think. ;)

You look really pretty all dressed up for your date Shelly! I can't wait to hear where you dined.

You definitely need to get out alone more often!!!!

I know!! :faint: We are going to try, now that the boys are getting a little older.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Nope, not Kona. But you are close!!

I'm going to guess somewhere at Grand Floridian. It's close and a little bit fancy.

We thought about the GF, but we didn't see anything there that really grabbed us. Maybe another time! :)

I just have to say you take some really nice pictures. What kind of camera do you use?

Thank you! :)

I just have a Sony Cyber-shot. It takes really good pics! :thumbsup2

I do remember that day!! That was the day that started it all -- all the deluxe stays for us!! You were like - I'm at the Poly on a hammock and you HAVE to go deluxe and you will never want to go back to a moderate again!! :faint: Remember that?!! :yay:

Hmm...IDK what they got for dinner that night. If I had to guess I would probably say chicken nuggets and pizza. :confused3:rotfl: I'll have to see if I took pics. I bet I did!

I know. The Poly is perfect just the way it is. Everything about it. Why can't they just leave it alone!!

Congrats on your new hammock! :goodvibes I have thought about getting one for here, but figured the view just wouldn't be the same. Plus I would have to store it for 8 months out of the year. :sad2:

Thank you! :) Dinner details are coming up soon!

Lovely pictures of Poly scenery! Can't wait to hear about your dinner date! I can't remember the last time my DH and I went on a dinner date!

Now that the kids are older we are finally getting some date nights...we were trying for one Friday or Saturday night a month,..but it's been few and far between!! LOL!! We usually get one about every 3 or 4 months..but, this is a time of all our lives where the kids are either to little for it to be steady, or we all have so much going on...hopefully we will all get date night soon!:yay:

I know, it's hard to find any time without the kids. :faint:

Yeah, we said that too. Unfortunately it just never happens that way. :upsidedow Oh well, one day it will be just the two of us and we will be wishing the kids were back at home!!

Love the pics of the Poly! :goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes

It is HARD to get caught up on the Dis when you are gone for more than a week! :faint: It has been hectic since we got back, but I have been in PJ's DISing all day and I am finally caught up!

That is really cool about DS14 getting into Archery! I can't believe they only charge $25 for an hour and a half of ANYTHING at WDW  What a bargain!

And what gorgeous pictures walking around the Poly :lovestruc It is such an amazing place. They somehow manage to make you feel so secluded somehow, but still be in the middle of everything. :cloud9: That's what I love about the WL too.

I will be sad to see changes come from DVC construction over there too. :( I heard on a podcast that the Tikiman did that they may be removing the water feature from the GCH. :scared1: I really REALLY hope that's not true. I know so many people will be SO mad about that one. The one good thing I heard was that they were expanding the pool to include a lazy river and make the area more like what they have at Aulani. That may be nice.

Happy belated anniversary! Where in the city did you end up for dinner? popcorn::

And my guess for your date at WDW is O'hana, since you said "close" to Kona ;) Otherwise I would have never guessed that. I remember you saying some of the food there was "funky" :rotfl:

Can't wait for more! I have NO TRIPS PLANNED :scared1: and I am missing it like crazy

Hey Heather

Yeah, I was surprised that it was only $25 for the archery experience. Way more than we pay around here, but a little less than I would expect to pay at WDW!! Of course if we all went it would have been $100. :faint:

The Poly is amazing. I'm so sad they are changing it. I realize the rooms needed a make-over, but I wish they would just leave everything else alone!

Tikiman did report on them taking out the water feature in the GCH, but then later I think he said that wasn't going to happen. I think a new pool area is definitely going to be needed if they bring in DVC. I just don't like the idea of it possibly turning in the chaotic place that SAB is. :sad2:

We went to Monterey Bay on Mt. Washington for our anniversary! Ever been there? We went for lunch and were the first ones there when they opened and we got the best table looking down over the city! It was very nice! :lovestruc

Yep, we went to Ohana for dinner! We really liked it last time, but didn't think it was worth it to take the kids again, since they didn't like any of the foods and ended up eating chicken nuggets and mac & cheese. :faint: So not the most romantic place for a WDW date, but we had a nice time.

After DH got ready we headed out for dinner at Ohana! We had been there once before and we really liked it, but the kids didn't eat much of anything. So we thought this would be a nice date night for us, since we could leave the kids in the room and only be a few minutes away.

And we made it -- Ohana!

We got checked in and were seated within about 10 minutes.

Our server was very nice. She was actually from PA, about 45 minutes from where we live!

She brought out the bread and then salad.

Everything was very good.

Then dessert came!

Dessert was good, but definitely not as good as last time it was a little soggy in the middle. But we managed and ate around the crispy edges!

We were so stuffed!!! So much food! :faint:

Total Bill: $72.40
Rating: 8 out of 10

Up Next: Our last evening

Looked like a great night! The food does look good.

We are eating there for the first time in July with my sister and family. Should be fun! :)

OK, well that's AWESOME news about the water feature. I was really sad about it. And, honestly - I am DVC, and I am not super thrilled about the add on at the Poly. Just leave it alone. :( It wil probably too expensive for us to even buy points/or use our current points there anyway, and I am worried about what all those 'huts' on the water are going to do to the views of the MK. :confused3

Anyway, looks like a great date! I love that dress you were wearing, very tropical and fitting for the Poly :thumbsup2

Random question: did your server tell you she worked at Eat N Park when she lived up here?? A few years back we had a server at O'hana from our area and she went on and on about how she worked at Eat N Park. She was the one who gave Bob a Lapu Lapu that had a hole in the bottom of the pineapple. It was leaking all over the place, so when we got her attention - she told him to CHUG IT, winked and brought him a new one. :lmao:

I know you're not a big drinker, so IDK if you've had a Lapu before... but, they are STRONG. I have a HILARIOUS picture of him after 2 of those. :joker:

Yes, I hope they leave the water feature alone!!

I'm totally not thrilled about the Poly DVC either. In fact I haven't heard too many people who are, DVC owners or not. It's just too much. Too much DVC on the monorail. They need to leave at least one of the MK resorts alone! But hey, no one asked my opinion. :confused3:rotfl:

Don't even get me started on the ridiculousness of the 'huts' over the nasty gator & snake infested water... :scared1:

Hmm... I'll have to ask DH if our CM said anything about working at Eat N Park up here. I really don't remember. But I think I sometimes have ADD when I am at WDW!! :lmao: I was probably looking around and not listening! :faint:

That is too funny about the 2 Lapu's! :rotfl:
