Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

Sorry it's taken me so long to get here and catch up on this update.

Friends still?

I brought flowers...:flower3::flower3::flower3:

----------------------------------

I loved this update! It was so cute to see both of y'alls expressions when the boat left without you. Your Dh looked like he was going off to war and you were left on the bank waving your handkerchief in the breeze.:rotfl:

I haven't ever ridden the Liberty belle either. Guess it's going on the agenda this trip bc your pictures looked cute.

Frontierland looked really empty actually! Was that Friday? (I can't remember!) I have always found that Fridays are sooooo awesome in the MK as far as crowds go. I have no idea why. I usually try to book Friday RD and it's really thin until around 1 or 2.

Your waffle looked really really good! That's not bad of a price if you are wanting breakfast foods without the hassle of a sit down meal! Only time we have ever been to Sleepy Hallow was to get coffee and sit on the rocking chairs by the Hall of Presidents.:cloud9: It might be one of my favorite things to do in the mornings at MK.

Great update. Sorry I'm late, I know you're probably ready to move on!:cheer2:

I love following your report! I'm going to have to add Sleepy Hollow to my list now....

 Well, I'll forgive you just this once I guess...:rotfl:

It was so weird to be standing there watching them sailing on by! :upsidedow Yeah, I'd like to ride the Liberty Belle sometime too.

Sleepy Hollow was awesome! That area in general is always nice and quiet. :lovestruc

Yep, that was Friday! I love MK on Wednesday nights and then RD on either Fri or Sat!! ::yes:: :cloud9:

I love following your report! I'm going to have to add Sleepy Hollow to my list now....

Thank you! :goodvibes Yes, definitely give Sleepy Hollow a try! :thumbsup2

Hi Shelly:goodvibes. I am so sorry to have been MIA for so long now! I have been crazy busy. But I am so looking forward to catching up with your TR!

I have had a nightmare of a day, and went on the DIS to distract me a little from today's events. I was at the Boston Marathon today. I was in the city, waiting for my good friend to cross the finish line when the explosions happened. My friend was less than a half mile from the finish when the bombs went off, and was unable to finish. Cell service in the city was shut off, and it took me a while to get in contact with my friend and her husband. My girls were with me, and they are still terrified. Words cannot describe the horror. Anyways, I wanted to check in. This is not how I wanted to return to the DIS, but I just need to vent! What a scary day.

Off to read now!

So Scary! I have a lot of family and friends in Boston and have been worried for everyone! Glad you're back on the DIS and hopefully it will bring you some happiness. Glad you and your friend and family are safe.

Thank you! It has been a very scary day. The memories of the sounds of the explosions and people screaming are going to be with me for a long time. The DIS is just what I need to distract me! I am also off of work this week due to school vacation, so it will be good to catch up with all of you ladies!

Thanks so much! My heart is breaking for the victims and their families. It has certainly been a terrible day for Boston.

Oh Lauren how awful! :sad2: I'm so sorry you & your girls and your friends had to experience such a thing. I bet it was very traumatizing. So glad you are all okay.

Well yes, maybe the DIS is a good way to think about something else! I see you have an October trip listed in your signature...... Tell us more! popcorn::

While DH & DS11 had been off enjoying the Riverboat, DS14 and I had been trying the 'let's stare at BTMRR and that will make it open back up sooner' approach....

DisneyDecember2012965_zps3cb3f85b.jpg

Yeah, that wasn't working so well. So we decided to go take a restroom break over by Splash Mtn. And wouldn't you know it, as soon as we walked back up to BTMRR it was running! :faint:

We quickly got in line and had to wait only about 5-10 minutes.

DisneyDecember2012971_zpsb0b5fcaf.jpg

After that we called DH and they were done too and we walked over and met up with them.

Splash Mtn only had a 10 minute wait at this point. I really wanted to ride!! DS14 said he would ride too. He likes it, but doesn't love it. I didn't want to have to make DH & DS11 wait or split up from them again. So I pleaded with DS11 to give it a try. He wasn't having any of it though. :sad2: I kept telling him to remember how he wouldn't ride Maelstrom all those times and then I finally talked him into it and he loves it like I knew he would. Still nothing..... finally I remembered I had a brand new Lego set wrapped up back in the room for him. I was going to give it to him the next day because we had a special activity planned for DS14 that day. And you know, you've always got to keep things equal!! :rotfl: So I told him that there was a brand new Lego set for him if he braved Splash Mtn...........And what do you know, he was suddenly interested!

Now DH was the only one not too interested. But he was just going to have to take one for the team this time!

So off to Splash we headed. With our ponchos on like a bunch of nerds!! :rotfl: I didn't really care what we looked like, I hate walking around in wet clothes.

DisneyDecember2012973_zps0c8f1258.jpg

We walked through the empty line and were up to the front in no time.

DisneyDecember2012974_zpsa17767c6.jpg

DH & DS14 took the front row and DS11 and I were right behind them. DH was not thrilled about this at all!! DS11 managed to smile right as the ride started.

DisneyDecember2012975_zps899ed302.jpg

Then the whole time it was – Is this it? Is this the drop? Is the drop coming? When is it coming?? :scared1: I don't think he really even got to look around and enjoy the ride much because he was afraid of that big drop sneaking up on him!! :faint:

But we all survived the big drop. And I'm glad we had the ponchos on, otherwise we would have been soaked!

DisneyDecember2012977_zps184ba69b.jpg

Not sure they will ever want to do that again, but at least they tried! :rotfl:

From there we headed back over to Adventureland for one last ride on POTC! With no wait.

DisneyDecember2012981_zpse1a28910.jpg

Next we were walking back towards Main Street. I happened to look over and notice the Enchanted Tiki Room on the left. I mentioned it to the family, like I have the last several trips, and they all kind of grumbled. I told them that they were just going to have to deal with it because we were going in this time!! I know it's corny, but we hadn't seen it since about 2007. :faint:

And what do you know – they all survived and maybe even liked it a little!

DisneyDecember2012989_zpscef75d40.jpg

I normally would have stopped for a Dole whip now, but since I could get them back at the Poly anytime, there was no need!

DisneyDecember2012991_zps827c0b26.jpg

And before we knew it we were back over to Main Street. There was a castle stage show going on, so we stopped for a bit.

We didn't have any pics of Mickey yet this trip, so we popped over to the Town Square Theater to check on the wait time. And it was only 5 minutes!!

Up Next: Back to the Poly

Great update! I love the stare-down at BTMRR to make it work attempt! And then as soon as you left it started up again. :upsidedow Glad y'all got to ride it!

Look at you, pulling out the big guns for the bribe! Hey, whatever it takes - $5, Legos - if it works, then go for it! Your DH doesn't look too thrilled in the pick, so yeah he may be one and done. ;) Can't tell about DS11 with his head down (that's exactly how I look in all the ride pics), but my bet is that he will ride next time! DS14 looks just like you would expect - loving it!

The Tiki Birds is something I can take or leave, but I really hate passing up things when we're there. But come to think of it, I would probably pass up Country Bear Jamboree most times. :guilty:

You really got some great pics of everything that was going on. And I love the family pic with Mickey! ::MickeyMo

Yikes! Why is it that I have plenty of time, and then all of a sudden I'm running late. :confused3 The Dis does it every time. Gotta run!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you were there! Thank God you and your group were not harmed. This is such a tragedy, a horrible, horrible thing. Those people, especially the children, who were hurt or killed is too hard to imagine. What is this world coming to? :sad1:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! It was a rough night trying to sleep, thinking about the awful events of the day. I'm just happy to spend today with my kids, I know some other families are not so lucky.

Shelly- yes, we have a trip planned for October! We are so excited, it turns out our ADR date was yesterday, so before all of the craziness I booked my ADRS! We are doing a joint beach/Disney trip, kind of like you! Except we are going to Marco Island for the first three nights...that's where my in-laws live! And then four nights at the GF! It's about a four hour drive from Marco Island to Disney. And we are also going to Marco Island in June for a week! So we have some great things to look forward to! Well, I'm off to officially get caught up with your TR!

I cannot believe he actually rode Splash!!!!!:thumbsup2 Those dang Legos. :rotfl2: The draw of them is just too powerful.:rotfl:
Next time we are there at the same time you'll have to have another set-- maybe Belle could convince him to ride EE with her.:goodvibes

Your poor DH. He was not amused. He's in good company-- M hates that ride. He hates to get wet. We all wore ponchos last time too and it's a good thing!

The Tiki room!! Its a fun time-- maybe not an every trip thing but I'm glad they went and enjoyed it a bit.

Looks like it really was a great day to be in the MK!!pixiedust:

Lauren-
I'm so happy to hear that you and your family and friends are okay after the tragedy yesterday.
I know it must be so hard to mentally and emotionally come to terms with having witnessed such an awful thing.

Take care of yourselves. Our prayers are with you all.:grouphug:

Legos to the rescue! Hunter's not a big fan of Splash Mountain but will ride it every once in a while. I can't say that I blame ya'll for wearing the ponchos. I hate walking around wet. I remember back in the day when you didn't get soaked when riding.

Great update! I love the stare-down at BTMRR to make it work attempt! And then as soon as you left it started up again. Glad y'all got to ride it!

Yeah, too bad the stare down didn't work! :rotfl: I knew the second we walked away it would open back up. :faint:

Look at you, pulling out the big guns for the bribe! Hey, whatever it takes - $5, Legos - if it works, then go for it! Hey, I'm not above bribery. But you all already knew that about me! :lmao: Whatever works!

The Tiki Birds is something I can take or leave, but I really hate passing up things when we're there. But come to think of it, I would probably pass up Country Bear Jamboree most times. :guilty:

Yeah, we probably won't do the Tiki Bird for another 6-7 years!! :rotfl: We haven't even done the Country Bears since our very first trip in 2005!

You really got some great pics of everything that was going on. And I love the family pic with Mickey! ::MickeyMo

Thanks!:goodvibes

They didn't even complain during it!! Can you believe that?! :confused3:rotfl:

Lego's to the rescue is right!!! :thumbsup2

DS14 and I have only been on Splash a few times before. Once we hardly got a drop of water on us. The other time we were completely soaked. :faint: It was so gross!! And it wasn't even from the drop, it was from a stupid water canon towards the end!

Thank God You and Your DD's were not hurt. Can not imagine the horror of being there.
