Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

GF is so gorgeous - I wish that I could be there right now! I hate it when there are open seats everywhere and people sit right on top of you, ugh. Your poor DS having an allergic reaction :(

I know, I would love to be there and WARM right now!! :goodvibes

Yeah, it was just weird with those people so close to us, especially when there was open space everywhere!! :upsidedow

Poor DS had a rough go of it with that nasty rash. :(

Shelly your poor DS :worried: I an allergic to pennicillian and amoxicillin gave me a rash once too stupid me to have taken it.

Your pics of the GF construction has me starting to rethink my request for our Poly stay, I have decided on Fiji and thought 1st floor on the Luau Cove side would be a nice view from pics I have seen since you can see the GF and the Wedding Pavilian but now also the construction and cranes not to mention possible noise.

Can't wait to read more!

I couldn't believe he had such a bad rash from the meds. :scared1: It was awful in the days to come. I'm just glad that he didn't experience too much swelling. That's mainly what the doctor was concerned about when we called him the next morning.

Hmm....IDK. I've never stayed on the GF side of the Poly. We have stayed on the TTC side both times -- once in Hawaii and once in Samoa. We loved them both! :lovestruc I think Jodi stayed in Fiji once, but maybe didn't face the GF. She really liked it! I don't know that you would get much or any noise from there even if you were facing the GF construction, it is a good ways away. But you may be able to see it. Heck, we could see it from our Samoa room. :upsidedow

How fun that you were recognized on the elevator! So far I have never met up with anyone whose reports I was reading or vice versa because our trips never seem to line up exactly. I bet your boys were loving that!

How awful for DS to have an allergic reaction ever, but on vacation in Disney World is even worse! I guess this is where the second call to that delivering pharmacy will come in...

Kind of funny about that guy at the pool, but so weird! I had to laugh at your DH's picture of the event. :lmao:

It was fun!! The kids felt like rock stars! :cool1::rotfl:

I know, poor DS was so embarrassed. :sad2: It got so bad on his face the next few days too. But I kept thinking that if this had happened at home he would have been way too embarrassed to go to school. :faint:

Yes, we would be using the pharmacy delivery again on this trip! :(

My DH has a weird sense of humor!! :lmao: He was like - hey give me your camera. I didn't think much of it and handed it to him and he says -- now smile so I can get a picture of you and your new friend! :rotfl2:

Aw, your poor DS! That stinks to have that kind of rash, especially in WDW. I know how embarrassed kids can be at that age- hopefully it didn't affect him too much!

I'm glad you guys got in some pool time! I can't believe it, but on our past two trips it was too cold to swim. In November it was pretty chilly, and on our last trip, some days only topped out at 48 degrees.

Love all of your GF pictures, it makes me want to go back! Well, once the construction is over with!::yes::

OH MY GOSH.. I am laughing like a dang hyena. Beau Gator even came trotting over to see what the heck I was doing I'm making such a dang noise.

Knowing you as I do.... that picture of you with your new friend is so freaking hysterical I can't stop giggling.

What the crap was that man thinking?? Um humm, go on girl with your new man.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm sure your DH got a huge laugh out of it. Tell him I said thank you soooooo much for getting a pic of your face!! Absolutely classic.

I must say that I am glad I wasn't there with you when it happened, there is no way in heck it would have even been a remotely pleasant situation with us together.:rotfl:

Oh my gosh that text--- I got the pic and it hit me that he was having that rxn and I did freak out a bit for you. Bless his heart.
Those reactions are so awful and make you miserable and self conscious.

When I had mine I had been on PCN for strep throat while in Hawaii and finished it and THEN had the reaction. They tested me for every disease known to man and even had med students come look at me as I lay there looking like a spotted elephant for 6 hours. They had NO CLUE what was happening b/c all of my joints were swelling as well.

Anyway---- poor guy.

Did you eat any Devonshire Cream with those scones????? I love that stuff. It is so good on that bread they serve.:cloud9:

Thanks for the update. It truly made my day!!

(PS-- I was in the produce section causing a ruckus when you posted it. I picked up ONE dang cucumber and they ALL came rolling down on top of me. I must have had a look of horror on my face bc the regular produce guy that is in there laughed at me b/c yes, I do leave a wake of destruction in my path. Last time I spilled coffee all over me, the cart and the floor and he had to clean it up. :confused3 Yes, I freely admit that I am a mess.)

Oh My Gosh Jodi!!! :rotfl2::rotfl:

I'm with Belle -- must have been some dream you were having!! :rotfl:

Oh my, only you!! ::yes:: :lmao:

But nope, no work today and I am here!! :yay: Just being lazy this morning. I need to go get some groceries, but it looks so cold and nasty out there. :(

So................I guess I'll do an update instead!! :cool1:

IKR?!?! ONLY ME!!!!:lmao:

the Marina view in Fiji is absolutely beautiful!!!!!! It's not loud, even though there are boats docked there. You have a view of the Contemporary and you can see Space Mountain in the distance. The lights at night are beautiful too.

Just remember that second floor rooms in Fiji have no balcony to stand on--- so request top floor in that building. :thumbsup2

Great update, Shelly! :thumbsup2

The goodies at Afternoon Tea look really good! I don't drink tea, either. I wish I liked hot tea, because I know some kinds are good for you, but I have never been able to stand it.

Too bad your curling iron was a rip-off. I hope it worked ok! It kills me to pay double or triple for something when I know how much it should cost. I guess it's like most everything else that costs too much at Disney. A coke, for example. You just say what the heck and pay it. I hate paying $5 for a coke at a football game but I do it! :rolleyes2

Your poor little dumplin' with his rash! Bless his heart, I hope he wasn't too miserable. Did it itch?

It makes me cold just looking at the boys in the pool. If it's not at least 90 degrees out, I don't think I'm in the pool. It sure does take away from the atmosphere with all the construction and noise. Too funny about the scooter guy right up in your space! I love that your DH got a pic of you/him. It reminded me of when my DD and I went to Vegas and were out at the pool. I made DD sit on a lounge chair so I could take "her" pic. But what I really wanted was a pic of Tan Mom's clone in the background.

That is so neat that you were recognized! I've read where a couple of other people said they were recognized from the Dis, but that has to be pretty rare! ;)

Jodi - the sheet story........:rotfl2: How in the heck did you manage to do that? And the Duke boys :rotfl:

I'm with you on the TimeLife infomercials. :thumbsup2 I always have to stop when I'm channel surfing and see one of those. Love the music from the 70's! But the scary thing is the hosts they get to do the ads - former singers and former hotties from the day. :scared1: How did they get so old and I didn't? ;)

I know, I kept saying -- it's okay, you don't know any of these people and will never see them again in your life!! But he wasn't going for it. :sad2:

That stinks that it has been too cold to swim on your last few trips. What's the weather looking like for your upcoming trip??

Yes, I would recommend waiting until all the construction is done to head back to the GF. :thumbsup2

OH MY GOSH.. I am laughing like a dang hyena. Beau Gator even came trotting over to see what the heck I was doing I'm making such a dang noise.

Well I'm glad I could add some entertainment to this last boring day of January!! :rotfl:

Knowing you as I do.... that picture of you with your new friend is so freaking hysterical I can't stop giggling.

Oh my, that would have been hysterical if you had been there!! See what fun you were missing by staying at Epcot all dang day?!!

That sounds awful. I was worried it was going to get so bad that we would need to see a doctor down there. Luckily our doctor took care of us over the phone and even more lucky - the swelling didn't get too bad.

Did you eat any Devonshire Cream with those scones????? I love that stuff. It is so good on that bread they serve.

I did and it was very good!! :thumbsup2

I can't stand any kind of tea. Hot tea, iced tea, any of it. It tastes so nasty to me!! :confused3:sick:

I am usually like that too, but in this situation I was just happy to be able to get one. For awhile there is was looking like I was out of luck. :scared1: :rotfl:

Your poor little dumplin' with his rash! Bless his heart, I hope he wasn't too miserable. Did it itch?

I had Benadryl with me because he is allergic to bee stings. So I started him on that as soon as we got back from the pool. That really helped with the itching, but didn't make the rash go away at all.

It makes me cold just looking at the boys in the pool. If it's not at least 90 degrees out, I don't think I'm in the pool. It sure does take away from the atmosphere with all the construction and noise. Yeah, it wasn't warm enough for me to swim. I like sunshine when I'm swimming!! But my kids would swim if it was only 65-70 out! :faint:

That is so neat that you were recognized! I've read where a couple of other people said they were recognized from the Dis, but that has to be pretty rare! ;)

Yeah, it was pretty neat. I was glad she said something!

Another great trip report. It feels like you guys are always on vacation....I just remember reading your last report with the trip to Legoland!

Sounds like a fun afternoon at the pool with your new friend lol, that sort of thing always happens to me!

Afternoon tea sure does look good :)

Yay for your unexpected Dismeet!

My new friend!! :rotfl2:

Afternoon Tea was good, minus the tea! :rotfl:

It was fun to meet a DISer! ::yes::

Jo Thanks for the input I sorta want to ask for 1st Floor but not sure about the views from there but would be less of a hassle with the scooter.

Just curious- what was the temp when they went swimming?? Looks a little cool for my liking ;)

I get a rash from penicillin too :(

That guy sitting right next to you is to funny. Some people just don't get it.:confused3

Well leaving for sunny FL tomorrow!!!!! I am so EXCITED:banana:
I decided that we are going to sit at the bar at either Cali Grill or Narcoossees for dinner Sat. night. b/c I want to watch wishes. I couldn't get a ressie :headache:
I wanted to go somewhere nice to celebrate the new job, and I wanted to dress up.
Wish me luck!!! I so hope I fall in :lovestruc with one of the condos right away.

I just tried to get a ressie again- and I got one!!!! Narcoossees at 6:00. I really wanted Cali Grill but this is good too! We had my B-Day dinner there and DH and I have been a few times. We have only had the surf & turf. Can't wait!!! MMMMM

What do you think about this??- I have a leftover Disney (non expiration) ticket from a few years ago. Except it's my mother's. While on the trip, we got ours mixed up a couple of times so my fingerprint is also on it. DH said we should try it out on Sunday and maybe go to a park for the day. I love his thinking but not sure.

Boy, I don't remember exactly. Probably upper 70's...But no sun. :upsidedow

Have a great trip! Good luck with everything!! :wizard:

Hmm...you could give the ticket a try and see what happens!

Well, I got absolutely no sleep last night - so I woke up early and caught up from start to finish on your updates - with pictures! :thumbsup2

I am a little behind - so this may be a little lengthy... :rotfl:

First, I love the pic of you and Jo being "celebs" at breakfast - you both look amazing! And how cute that the kids all get along so well, and your DH's went together to the gym. That's awesome. I didn't pay attention - are your trips lining up again next time too? It's fun when we go down with just me and Bob, but we always seem to have a little more fun when there are more people around. I guess it's because there are more people to share stories with afterward.

Most of our conversations when we would always go alone were "Remember when we ___" ...... "yeah"..... "oh, ok. yeah. that was fun" :lmao:

It's nice to have someone to share it with ::yes::

It's very impressive that DS11 got in and out of the Lego store so quickly on your DTD Disney day,::yes:: I agree that is usually ME in WoD and I was good this year too. I actually walked out and bought NOTHING. :scared1: I guess it was because I spent my fair share in TrenD this time. I generally can't find anything in there, but I loved so many things this time I was surprised.

And surprisingly, T-Rex actually looked great to me! I had read some really bad reviews before, so this is good news to me. I think I will be trying it out pretty soon! There was ONE time we walked up and got into a restaurant, and I definitely wouldn't say that it was because we were cool enough. I think that they took pity on us. :rotfl: We had ADR's somewhere at a monorail resort on our honeymoon and decided we didn't want to leave MK, so we walked up to the CP at around 4:30 and they gave us a window seat overlooking the castle, decorated with confetti! It was so cute, and you could tell they really just did it because we had the bride and groom ears on. That was the BEST way to get swag. We were pampered that whole week.

And I am so sorry that DS11 had that rash. Por guy. Especially being at that age when you are so worried about what everyone thinks about you. Sorry to hear that it gets worse before it gets better. It's good that you have the pharmacy number saved when you go down there. I may need to get that info from you. We had our first brush with bad luck while on vacation this past trip, and it snapped me into reality that just because you're in a magical place - bad things can still happen. I think I need to be better prepared next time. I now know where not one, but TWO medical centers at WDW are.

Ahh, I remember when the worst thing to happen at WDW to us was rain

Wow you did get all caught up, didn't you?! :)

Yes, that was an awesome morning!! :goodvibes Fun was had by everyone. :thumbsup2 But sadly no, our next trips do not line up. We will miss each other by about a week. No matter how hard we tried we just couldn't make it happen this time. :upsidedow Maybe next time! :wizard:

Most of our conversations when we would always go alone were "Remember when we ___" ...... "yeah"..... "oh, ok. yeah. that was fun" :lmao:

We love the food at T-Rex! :thumbsup2 It can get very loud in there, but I don't think it's terrible. It doesn't stop us from going back anyway!! :rotfl:

That is awesome that you got into CP on your honeymoon without an ADR! :goodvibes We haven't been there for awhile. I kind of miss it!

The rash was just awful. I felt so bad for him. :sad2:

Yes, I will always keep that pharmacy's business card in my Disney folder that's for sure. Good grief. You never know what's going to happen. I hope your medical issues at WDW weren't too serious and didn't ruin your trip.

Yes, those are the good trips -- when all you have to worry about is if it is going to rain or not!! ::yes:: :rotfl:

I found a few shirts and a bunch of necklaces at TrenD that I liked, but I settled on a hoodie that is kind of retro '70's looking and says LOVE and has a Mickey head in the O. I'll try to see if I remember how to post pics to the Dis and put one up :thumbsup2

And thanks, the injuries thankfully didn't end up being as bad as they could have. On our first night, we were in the MK for EMH's and my sister was asking about the Cindarella castle suite. We were walking across the bridge from Tomorrowland and all three of us were looking up at the castle trying to figure out which window it was. Well, you know how when you get to the circle in front of the castle, there's some wheelchair access areas that are sloped? I thought I was walking down that, but nope. I WALKED RIGHT OFF THE CURB. :joker:  It was SO embarassing. I had my camera in my hand, and landed right on that (so, yay - that broke my fall) and I bruised and skinned my knees really bad.

And then, even worse - 2 mornings later we were getting ready to go to AK. We had a 1 BR villa, so Casey was sleeping in the living room on the pull out. I was blow drying my hair when I heard her screaming in the living room, I ran out and she was lying on the floor with her hands covered in blood. She had lost her phone under/behind the couch, so she lifted it up and slid under there to grab it. She dropped the leg on her head and it punctured her head. I had NO clue what to do... so I got Bob to hold a towel on her head and I called the front desk. I stayed super cool :rolleyes2 and yelled "MY SISTER DROPPED THE BED LEG ON HER HEAD" :rotfl: :faint: They connected me to 911, and I yelled "I DON'T KNOW IF I NEED YOU" and hung up on them.

So, we got the bleeding to stop, gave her watermelon because I figured she lost blood, and when you give blood they give you sugar. (Is it clear that I have no clue what I am doing)

I called my dad and described the wound to him, and he said since we got the bleeding to stop to just take her to the medical facility at the park rather than having the paramedics come. So, they checked out the wound and said that they couldn't "push it back together", so she wouldn't need stitches. So, she just scraped a piece off rather than 'puncturing' her head. :faint:

Luckily, that was best case scenario - but the rest of the week, we kept wondering what was going to happen to Bob. :rotfl:

Oh my gosh AGAIN!! That must have been so scary with all the blood. I'm glad she was okay in the end. Wow, you really did have quite the trip. :faint:

Got my flights for the next trip today!!! :cool1:

AirTran released their rates today. I was going to wait on SouthWest to release theirs tomorrow, but I didn't figure I could do any better than AT's $94 down and $99 back, so I grabbed it!!

So total round trip for 4 of us = $771!! Not bad! :yay:
