trip from WCC to MK

We have reservations at Whispering Canyon at 5pm on a weeknight, non-peak. Will we be able to make it over the MK for the 7pm Spectromagic? I'm thinking the key is non-peak. And, this would be the boat from WL to MK, then, right? Or, is there a better way to get to MK?

We just stayed at the wilderness lodge in september. We never waited more than 20 minutes for a boat...but you have to keep in mind that the boat ride is about 15 minutes long, and the time it will take to re-enter the park...I think you might be cutting it kind of close.

I would say you are cutting it way too close. We had a 5:00 dinner at the WCC and we were there for over two hours and we didn't even order dessert (we thought the food was gross and our service was terrible). By the time we got our bill and got out of there, it was close to 7:15 (luckily, we drove over and took our car and went to Epcot afterwards and didn't have to wait for transportation).

I have to agree with the pp's, it's going to be close. Perhaps if you show up about 1/2 hour early you may get seated earlier and have time to make it to the MK by 7:00pm.

Id suggest you move the dinner reservation to 4 pm...being rushed is just no fun...plus, dinner will be more enjoyable and relaxing if you are not rushed...time seems to just fly at WDW

Agree with that. Enjoy your time at Whispering Canyon. It's my favourite

I just called Disney Dining and found out that WCC opens at 5pm on the night we're going. Will that improve my chances for a quick seat? I cannot move my dinner reservation earlier. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten the "opening" time slot.

We had the opening time slot and were seated at 5:30. I guess it just depends on how busy it is.

It might be close, but you can cut down your transportation time. There is a bus from WL to MK, the ride should take about 5min, the WL bus depot is just off the lobby, past the gift shop, should be a shorter walk than going to the dock.
