Do most people here purchase trip cancellation insurance? My credit card has travel accident insurance, flight delay coverage, baggage delay coverage, lost or stolen baggage coverage and travel accident insurance. I'm just worried about hurricane season because we're going at the end of September/beginning of October.

I never previously got Trip Cancellation insurance until last year when we booked in September. Then, I got it from Disney.

Now, I work for CAA and we do sell it although it needs to be purchased within 48 hours of booking your trip.

If you think there'll be a weather problem, I'd go for it, but you probably won't need it. :wizard:

We always have trip cancellation. Last year we had to use it when Transmeridian airlines in the US went bankrupt. Got a refund from the insurance company within 4 weeks of filing a claim. It sure came in handy so we are never without it. We have a Mosaik M/C from Bank of Montreal and we just let our insurances renew automatically every year.

We never buy trip cancellation insurance. When we added up the amount we'd be out (airline change fee - $50 per person, Disney package cancellation fee - $200 if cancelled more than 6 days before start), the amount we'd recover from the trip insurance nver seemed that much. We'd pay approx 100, to recover a potential loss of 400.

Disney doesn't keep the cancellation fee for hurricane related travel problems.. IF you rebook the vacation at a different date.

If you want a refund.. not sure how that works with hurricane season.. but it seems to me they're pretty forgiving.

I just got a trip to Jamaica last week with my sister because they didn't take out cancellation insurance. Wouldn't you know it, my BIL broke his leg less than a week before departure. Even so, my DH and I never take out cancellation insurance. When we consider the cost of the trip vs the cost of the insurance, it isn't worth it. We've more than saved the price of a vacation should we get caught.
